They are clearly understaffed. I stood for about 15 minutes in a relatively short line before anyone took my order. He continued to make food between taking orders which slowed everything down. I then waited another 20 minutes until I even got my drink. I only waited because i'd already paid for it and invested the time, but this is absolutely ridiculous. Me and my friend sat down for no more then 6 minutes and this man comes up with his iPad and claimed that we had been there for 15 minutes and said if we didn't make a purchase we would have to leave. So I went to go order a water which costed me 3 dollars... After I went back to my seat, my friend told me that him and another barista were whispering loudly about me and saying "Who do they think we are to give out free drinks?" and was side-eyeing me. This is a popular choice for UMD students to grab some coffee and work. There are a decent number of seating inside. The baristas have been friendly every time I've come. They had yet to mess up my order. Though I can see how people can pick up the wrong order since they just basically place the finished drinks on the other end and don't check if people pick up the right one. I have seen them have to redo some drinks. It is located in a shopping center with paid parking (except Sun). But it is hard to find free parking in College Park. read more

Usually they're ok but I've noticed huge inconsistencies with the quality at this location. I've had a number of frustrating experiences and poorly made drinks and today I got sized down from a TALL and it wasn't even filled up all the way. I couldn't even ask for it to be remade because i needed to make it to work. But very frustrating. read more

I am sad to say, my experience was disappointing. Maybe the barista making our drinks was new, but it took well over 20 minutes for 2 fraps, and it was no where near busy. I think the man who may have been store manager Eric realized how long she was taking and finished making the orders, both drinks were sized up. You'd think that'd be a positive but it's because the drinks were not made to standard and tasted like straight milk. No one had a nasty attitude or anything but that doesn't mean not to make the drinks correctly / to standard, my partner was viscerally upset with her sadly made caramel crunch. I visited the store today to do some homework and had a canned drink with me that I had purchased earlier in the day. Since it was room temperature, I asked an employee for a cup of ice. He then asked if I had purchased a drink at the store or if I was with someone who did. I replied no, and found the question a bit odd, mind you I was unaware of any policy requiring customers to purchase a drink to sit in the store. The employee did not inform me of this policy at that time, so I simply took a seat. About 10 minutes later, while I was working with my AirPods in, the general manager (I believe his name was Eric) knocked on my table to get my attention. He explained that I was not allowed to use the store unless I made a purchase. Although I was frustrated - especially since I had already spent $4 on parking - I acknowledged the policy and placed a mobile order for the cheapest item available, as that was all I could afford. A few minutes later, both the manager and the employee approached me again and said they had to ask me to leave. I explained that I had purchased a drink and even offered proof. The employee then acknowledged that I was fine to stay. However, shortly after, the manager returned, now holding his tablet, and asked for the name on my order in a noticeably rude and condescending manner. After I provided my name and order details, he told me my drink was on the counter, making it seem as though I was inconveniencing him. At this point, I was feeling extremely uncomfortable and singled out. To add to the situation, when I finally went to get my drink, the employee approached me again and offered to remake it, saying he had used the wrong milk. I hadn't noticed any issue with it, so the interaction just felt strange and unnecessary, I also noticed that whenever I glanced in their direction, they were already looking at me, which made me feel even more uncomfortable. Overall, this experience left me feeling harassed and unwelcome. After each interaction, the way they handled the situation left me feeling increasingly anxious and embarrassed. I understand that Starbucks has policies in place and I respect that, but the way they were enforced in this situation felt excessive, especially since I had complied by making a purchase, and the manager seemed to not believe me. The repeated interactions, dismissive attitude from the manager, and unnecessary scrutiny made the environment extremely uncomfortable, and I don't see myself going to that location again. I hope that in the future, your staff can handle these situations with more professionalism and awareness of how their approach impacts customers. read more

This is a HUGE Starbucks. I was in my old college town recently and stopped in to this Starbucks for a quick sweet baked good. The employee at the register was extremely friendly and upbeat, rang up my order right away, and offered to warm up by banana nut bread. The banana nut bread slice was flavorful, fresh, delicious, and baked just right. Heated up it tasted excellent! Although there were a ton of people inside, there was still plenty of seats. The store is really open and bright without designated sections of the store, but the overall feeling was warm and I didn't feel too old or out of place, despite every single person being under 20. read more

Horrible experience. I usually let things go but tbh this is crazy. I Show up at 6am. There are two people. I'm the second person who orders a drink. One of the girls is the only one that makes the drink and god knows what the other girl was doing except looking at a paper. Anyways I order my drink and I'm waiting and these two other girls come in and order their drinks. Tell me why they got their drinks before me. To top that they make my drink in a plastic cup instead of making it in the cup that I gave them. This wouldn't be an issue if I didn't order a cold foam. So as she's going to hand it to me I have to remind her that I got a cup so she goes do u want me to just pour it into your cup which I had to say yes to because I had already waited 15 mins for a drink. I stopped in for an Iced Mocha Latte on 8/20/11 and my 1st thought was "This place needs some HELP!". It was my 4th visit & I hadn't remembered thinking that on any of my previous visits. But the cashier (a young college girl, I assume) was mind numbingly slow. Good Lord, the line (at this typically fast-paced, well-decorated, java joint with ample seating & power outlets) stretched back to the door. She was flitting about behind the counter getting cups, making coffee, all the while handing folks the wrong pastry, forgetting who even ordered a pastry, and NOT getting me my bev & ringing it up. Ugh. Meanwhile, the Barista was coolin. He'd fulfilled most if not all orders from the people in the growing line and in some cases delivered our drinks to us in line. He was helping frantic cashier by smiling and saying "gosh, I don't know what's going ON over there!" The only downside here is the fact that for such a big place there is only one restroom for women and one for men. There have been several time I had to wait like 10 minutes in line. I used to come here all the time during my years at UMD to study, and I'm still a regular since I work close by. They have plenty of seating and of course the free WI-FI. The WI-FI can be shotty though sometimes. There are also not that many outlets, so bring your laptops fully charged. But it's still a good spot to work on your homework (bring headphones though). The baristas here are pretty good. They are accommodating and friendly. Also, this location does NOT have a drive-though...not sure why some of the reviews say it does. If you are looking for a drive-through location there is one not too far from this Starbucks on Cherry Hill Road. And don't forget to pay for the metered parking outside. This Starbucks has been holding me down through undergrad... frankly, as I gear up to graduate, I couldn't have done it without them. A few things about this Starb: The baristas are amazing. Working with college kids isn't always easy, but they're always well-mannered and the drinks are always good. I've rarely ever had a subpar drink from this Starbucks. They're super flexible as well - always willing to suggest alternatives if they're out of something. They're really good with mobile orders. There's rarely ever a backlog, and also rarely ever a time when I get there and my order isn't ready. Because it's a campus-adjacent location, they occasionally do stuff for students like stay open 24 hours during finals. That's super appreciated by me, as I don't live on campus any more, so it just offers an additional space to do work and study. Speaking of workspaces, this Starbucks offers a pretty good amount of space and outlets are conveniently located. Overall, I LOVE this Starbucks. The people who work here are so, so nice, and they deliver consistent quality every time. read more

Sooooo, this morning I come into this location hoping to have my mobile order ready. I ordered on the app at 9:08. The prep time for my order was 2-5 min and usually it's pretty accurate. So walking into Starbucks at 9:13 and being the only customer not served(they were not busy at all), I expected to have my drink ready. Unfortunately, there were two workers standing talking and it took them about 3-5 min to recognize me and they had no customers. So after they do recognize, the girl proceeds to ask me what I ordered because their mobile order machine is not working. So they look up my order and the same girl begins to make it. While making my drink, this girl decides its more important to be on her phone while I sit and watch her but clearly she did not care or think I would notice. I visited this Starbucks about once a day when at UMD over the summer and have to say it is one of my favorite locations. The baristas took the time to learn my name and my order which made me feel special (and made it clear that I had a Starbucks addiction haha) and I also witnessed them giving advice to other customers on what types of drinks were offered. There is a ton of seating which is great but there could be a few more outlets. One thing I found slightly dissatisfying was the presence of a lot of people who weren't even customers yet they were using up many of the chairs. I wish this were better enforced and these loiterers were kicked out. Another gripe with the store was the wifi which was spotty and slow (although sometimes this was a blessing in disguise because it prompted me to get off Facebook and study!). read more

It's a Starbucks that's got plenty of seating. Usually that wins more stars in my book. But the large parking lot has individual parking meters (costing $0.75 per hour, for a max of 2 hours), that pretty much discourages any sort of leisurely reading experience at this particular location. There's no parking validation with purchases, and the barista told me that the lot actually enforces the parking tickets aggressively. Thumbs down for the parking situation at this Starbucks. Don't come here to study if you're getting here in a car. read more

I'm surprised this Starbucks had such bad reviews, because I was actually really happy with my experience. Normally I wouldn't even think to rate a Starbucks, but my last few experiences have been less than stellar. Unlike other Starbucks, this one filled up the cup to the top -- if I'm getting a latte, mocha, etc, I'm not going to be putting cream in it so why wouldn't you fill it up to the top? My friend got plain coffee and they actually asked her if she wanted them to leave space, which she didn't. She really appreciated the fact that they asked. Both the guy behind the cash register and the one making my coffee were very friendly. It wasn't busy -- which may have something to do with it -- but they took our order quickly and efficiently, and the order was ready really fast. I've been to other Starbucks locations (who hasn't, right?) only to find that this one was eerily quieter than most - it seemed like even the espresso machine was mindful of the studying students. I find myself here on Saturday mornings and it's not too busy then. The baristas are friendly and courteous. The coffee comes out quickly and correctly, which is what I need when I'm coming in for a caffeine fix. The location makes for great studying, working, or people-watching. Awesome Starbucks location! I love coming here just to hang with friends or read a good book. It's a very relaxing location and the staff members are very sweet and welcoming. The interior is huge and has plenty of tables for students to come in and study and comfy chairs/sofas for people who just want to relax and read. i don't know what's up with these guys but exactly. "meh, i've experienced better." they mess up my order every other time, and inconsistently at that. i can't even adjust my order to their standard. (what standard?) their staff size is comparable to the much busier location right off the beltway (also on baltimore avenue) and yet their service speed is about 30% of the other. what GIVES? the parking lot is an even bigger nightmare. now they have muni-meters. yes, i'm gonna run down the middle of the parking lot to stick in a dime, go to starbucks, then run out while waiting for my drink if it takes too long to go put in another dime, pick up my coffee then race to my car to avoid a $30 ticket. who wants to play THAT game before i've had my coffee?!? read more

I don't really leave reviews unless something is insanely awesome or insanely terrible. I just had a very frustrating visit to this Starbucks. I frequent about 4 Starbucks in the area, and this is the first time I've been to this one in years. I now remember why. First of all, their menu on the app wasn't accurate AT ALL. I specifically went to this location for the drive-thru and because they had certain items in stock on their menu in the app. When I got there, they were out of mostly everything I wanted to order. So I changed my order a bit but wasn't really happy about it. Then when I got home and tried my drink, I was super disappointed with it. Watered down, flavorless, and not hot enough at all. At most it was warm. In the future, I'll continue to avoid this location and drive a bit further to another drive thru. This was going to be my treat for a lazy Sunday. So much for that. read more
