My wrap was so overcooked it could've doubled as a hockey puck. The staff seemed more interested in chatting with each other than serving customers; I had to flag someone down just to get a glass of water. The restaurant was filthy--sticky tables, crumbs everywhere, and a weird smell coming from the coffee bar . To top it off, they got my order wrong and didn't even apologize. It's sad to see the staff's lack of organization. I ordered a very simple black coffee, and lately, it always takes a long time to get ready or the cup is just sitting on the coffee machine. This starbucks was thoroughly disappointed with the condition of the store. As soon as I walked in, I noticed that the floor was dirty, with trash and spills scattered about. The tables and chairs were also stained and sticky. The counters and equipment behind the counter didn't appear to be properly sanitized either. I saw a barista wipe down the counter with a dirty rag, which only seemed to spread the dirt around. I ordered coffee, but the barista seemed overwhelmed and took a while to get it right. I visited the Shipley Starbuck on May 10th, 2025. I was shocked by how dirty and dusty the place was. Three out of the 4 employees behind the counter were looking unprofessional, dirty and not groomed. There was no wait for me to place my order but I had to wait 30min to get the order made. My other favorite location! I love the baristas here, they rule the drive thru :) They are all so sweet with my pup and so friendly, and they make the coffee to perfection. This group as well as route 40 EC, manage stressful/busy situations like total pros. I am still in awe over their performance during the recent tech outtage! Mostly hood service and rarely gets order wrong. However, I've noticed that sometimes the friendly attitude changes if you select no-tip when paying with a card at the drive thru. You can't be mad if someone doesn't tip on one simple $5 drink. Also, a couple of times when I've ordered lattes they didn't fill my cup up. The top 2 inches would be just straight foam and another inch of empty space. Your drinks are expensive enough, I should at least get what I paid for. There was like 3 sips in my cup. read more

I sat at the counter here for an hour in the evening and that gave me a great view of the camaraderie of the crew and how well they dealt with customers. It's a comfortable Starbucks with the usual drinks and pastries, plus seating for maybe 30 people if they're all sharing tables. Power outlets about and the wifi worked well. A couple of outside tables looked comfortable, especially in the afternoon when the Sun is on the other side of the building. read more

I went through the drive thru so wasn't able to get too many pictures. I love this Starbucks. I've been coming here for years, the service is great (never had a complaint). The staff are quick and nice. They've never forgotten my order. The seating area is nice and cozy. They even have seating outside which is a great place to sit in the spring and summer. Whoever is training the new people you're doing a bad job. First time I came here from a dry spell I ordered an Iced Vanilla Blond Latte (which is made from blonde brew FYI) WITH LIGHT ICE it tasted like a dark roast imposter with the entire cup full of ice. I'm glad customer service added $15 to my members card. But then the second time I came around I ordered the same thing, with some normal Madeleines since chocolate is too sweet. The drink came with the cup full of ice again, but didn't taste like crap. Then one of the madeleines was dipped in chocolate and the other one was normal. MY ORDER WAS TWO NORMAL MADELINES. Other Starbucks stores, take notes cause this store is freaking awesome, honestly. This is the only Starbucks in Ellicott City that doesn't F up my order. I order a Trenta Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew with 8 Pumps Vanilla and an Extra Splash of Sweet Cream, light ice. Typically don't have any problems here--I sometimes come here to study because it doesn't get too crowded when it isn't the rush Docked two stars because when it does get busy (honestly, sometimes even when it's not), the drinks aren't always made with care/correctly. I get it, the pressures of the fast paced environment, especially with the addition of a drive thru, is tough and you don't wanna make some (extreme) customers mad for taking so long. But in my opinion, I'd rather wait an extra minute for you to look at my order and make it correctly. If i'm paying extra for soy milk, please don't use anything other than soy milk. This is especially for people who have special dietary restrictions. The employees here are generally really kind and I give them props for being able to handle stressful customers and the drive thru. read more

Arrived at this Starbucks in Shipley's Grant in Ellicott City yesterday at 4pm and left at 6:30pm. As soon as I got my coffee, I went to get some sugar in the raw.....empty......reported it to one of the employees and also let them know the trash was overflowing. (Ewwww). Employee hands me two packets of sugar and apparently does nothing about refilling the sugar, or emptying the trash. (This pic was taken as I was leaving). I figured I should update my review after today's visit since it's really no longer applicable. I stopped going to this location months ago. Before that, I generally stopped by every day after work, but I eventually got tired of getting half-filled cups, the wrong drink, waiting in line for 20 mins, etc. I had even contacted the manager of the store and emailed the corporate office about the issues several times, but there didn't even seem to be an interest on their part in solving the problems. Eventually I gave up, bought my own espresso machine, and pretty much never thought about Starbucks again. So yesterday I got an email saying I could stop by for a free birthday drink and figured I'd give it another go. Same issues! My drink was completely wrong. And you know what? I love Starbucks and all coffee in general but this specific one makes me think "ugh". I chose it purely for convenience - it's within a half mile from home. But I don't think I'll ever be going there again. I'll go to the farther away one out of desperation for better drinks. They mess up any espresso beverage, which is pretty much everything on their hot menu. I got the new holiday caramel brulee latte on a whim and it was bitter and burnt tasting. I thought that it was just that drink so I never ordered it again. A few days later I ordered the Toffee mocha and it's just as bad. So today I decided to stick with a tried and true favorite of mine and I ordered the Caramel Macchiatto. My gosh, it is the most bitter and burnt thing I have EVER tasted. I don't know if it's because it sits there all day or their temps are too high but I'm done with wasting my money there. Never again! This is your typical Starbucks. My only complaint was the speed of service. They were soooooooooo slow. They had a drive thru full of cars, as well as a bunch of people in line. I am all for being nice and having the barista catch up with frequent customers but when you have a long line, don't hold long conversations. I ordered my usual iced coffee with cream and caramel. This Starbucks is okay. It's in a good location where not that many choices are nearby for coffee. It's probably better for locals, as it's nearby many residential neighborhoods. Pros: Lots of outdoor seating (good for the nicer days), and the drinks are made well (good employees whenever I've been there). Cons: The inside seating is decent, mainly 2 tables pushed together (would fit 4) but it's still tight... so I wouldn't come here if you need a big group table or more than 2-3 people. Seating sometimes can be "awkward" - but if you're studying alone, I'm sure you can fit a seat for yourself. Also, all the seats are aligned next to the windows (one long wall of windows)... so it gets pretty chilly with the cold wind seeping in. read more

Pros: it's close to my house and the employees are always nice and friendly. Cons: it's small so it can be tough to find seating. Most of the tables are 2-seaters. Every time that I have gone in with 4 or more people, the tables are never being fully utilized properly. All of the larger tables are taken up by only 1 or 2 ppl treating the restaurant as their personal office. I guess that's the typical Starbucks experience since I see this at nearly every Starbucks I've gone to. It's location would be convenient to meet up with friends for a drink and chat but because of the seating situation, it never works out that way. On warm days, we can chill outside to talk but on cold days, forget about it. Went to Starbucks this morning to get a sandwich and mocha coffee in the drive thru. When I got to the window the girl put her hand out and didn't even say anything like good morning assuming I'm supposed to pay her( and this is not the first time this has happened with this person) I paid her she gave me the sandwich and I took a bite of it on the way home and it was COLD. I tryed to call the number and it said something like you have reach a phone number something something so I called the Starbucks off of dobbin road and he told me the same number and I said it wasn't working and he said I don't know what to tell you. I'm SOOO NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER. This person in the drive through needs to take customer service classes and NOT ACCEPTABLE for my food to be cold. How about if I wasn't going home.
