My go to starbucks because its the nearest one to me here in Emeryville. This one is always cramped and its always got a long line. Takes about 5 minutes to get your drink, which i think is average, during busy times for Starbucks. I would recommend studying here, the tables are limited and pretty cramped together. read more

I fell in love with starbucks during my freshman year of college 8 years ago. Everyone at this store is friendly. They make my drink, a tall extra, extra caramel macchiato perfectly and rather quickly. I always enjoy chatting in Spanish with la pequena barista. I don't understand what the reviewer below has against her but trust me this store has great employees. They are efficient during peak hours and non peak hours, and have never been offensive even when customers ask for extra syrup, shots, remade drinks during rush hours. Since Janelle has been managing the store, the service has exponentially become better. I guess even yelp has trolls every once in a while. Very friendly service! I asked to try iced green tea with peppermint syrup...I didn't taste it at first so when I went back for my refill, I said, "I don't think I really tasted the peppermint, can we try it again, maybe an extra pump?" and they quickly realized and apologized that they forgot to put it in (that would explain it) and upgraded me to the next size and put it in this time. This Starbucks location is right next to my work so I am usually here every other day. They renovated earlier this year so the tables and layout are very modern and following their new format. I do notice a lot of flies sometimes but it doesn't really bother me. The service is hit or miss. They are very busy so I can understand why their baristas would seem unhappy most of the time. The line is always long but moves quickly. I usually spend at most 15 minutes here. Sometimes the barista will be upbeat and friendly and other times you get one with attitude, but if you don't mind that you will be just fine. As for the drinks, definitely try the new cold brew. It's brewed over night so it's a bit stronger than the usual iced coffee. I highly recommend it if you are a caffeine addict like me. However, you come later in the day they might run out because they don't make any more during the day. read more

Let me put it this way: I'm a Peet's snob but this Starbucks location has won me over. Friendly staff, awkward crews of Expression students everywhere and if you're lucky, the occasional sweaty sign flipper that has either overdosed on speed or just super juiced on pointing out the "HIP, NEW CONDO'S FOR SALE!!!" that are apparently down the street. Amazing that it takes a minimum of 7 to 8 minutes to get any drink order in the morning. Employees are pleasant, but speed is very slow in comparison to other Starbucks. Also, what is the deal with the 6:30pm closing time. Again, no alignment with other Starbucks units open until 8 or 9pm. I live nearby and would totally drop in between 7 and 8pm. I prefer to drive to this Starbucks for my afternoon pick-me-ups. I work in Emeryville and the other Starbucks on Christie is always closed when I go there. The staff at this location are nice and quick. It could be that I go during the slower afternoons, I have no idea what this place is like in the mornings. Whatever, I go here when I don't feel like getting heart burn from Peet's crack laced coffee. Today the barista sweetened my iced coffee by mistake and then I put a splenda and it was WAY too sweet. The barista offered me and extra shot, which I kindly accepted, and my drink turned out perfect. Any Starbucks that offers free espresso shots are all good in my book. Some of the baristas here know me and remember my order. Little personal touches like that keep me coming back. The neighborhood is interesting. Nice place to sit outside and people watch while escaping my work duties. Now if only Starbucks would start selling vegan pastries and cookies, I could skip Peets completely. I come to this Starbucks a few times a month on my way to work and occasionally afterwards. The service is always friendly and quick. They never get my drink wrong or my name! The location is always clean, but parking can be tough. If you live or work nearby, walking works out best. They are conveniently located as long as you don't get stuck down the street when a long train is crossing. read more

My boyfriend and I frequent this place. The neighborhood, parking, staff, not-crowded all add up to a nice SB location, but... it's friggin' cold! And I'm talking uncomfy cold-feet numb, hard to type cold. My fingers are even struggling as I type this review. This may be one of the reasons it's not crowded. So, just a heads up, if you decide to spend more than 10 mins here, I suggest coming prepared-bundling up or bringing a space heater, hah! :) Again, we like it here and would probably be here more often if it wasn't so cold. The store is always very slow, especially in the mornings. Even when there are only a few people in line, it can take over 10 minutes to get your drink. Im not sure if the baristas aren't trained well or their system is inefficient, but it's always a poor experience. Also, the mobile pick up makes it even more difficult. I appreciate the flexibility, but I just went in, and I was the only one in line and thought I could squeeze a coffee before my bus, but it took 10 minutes because one barista was making 7 mobile orders first. There needs to be two barista bars to make this fair. read more

Place was slammed at 9am. I went to the end of the line thinking i was going to be late to my meeting. To my surprise the line moved very quickly. The staff did a great job moving the line quickly. I had a turkey bacon sandwich and a latte everything was as expected. Will be back next time I am in the area. read more

I'm a regular starbucks customer and in fact the location near my home continues to be my favorite haunt. This location however gets a fail. I went there every day for a few weeks until one day when I ordered my regular bold coffee. The lady fills it up, runs out of coffee then tops it up from the decaf next to it. Meanwhile her colleague has taken the money. I call her on it. She rudely explains that if I don't want it I can wait until she brews a new batch. Apparently it is my mistake for not having specified not to top the coffee off with decaf. I'm not kidding. I explain that I have an issue with her topping the coffee off with on the sly and consider it poor customer service. She gets snotty. Polar opposite from my experience at other starbucks where an apology and any number of remedies are offered in such cases. I ask to see the manager or somebody in charge. There is nobody. I can call back the following day if I need to see the manager. Fail x2. It strikes me this place is lacking firm management, good training and proper screening of staff. This starbucks is nearest my workplace and I haven't been back in the 3 months since this happened. Cafe Aquarius across the street does really good coffee. As for the comment below about trolls, I don't see any reviews here that I'd characterize as trolling. They all appear to reflect the experience of the posters, with enough background information to warrant their rating. If you believe a posting is invalid because it violates yelp terms then complain to yelp, otherwise kindly respect that other peoples experiences may differ from your own. read more

ok ok, it's time for an update. again. well what to say, it's still starbucks. therefore in my slightly self righteous and obviously spoiled on amazing bay area fancy beans and pour-overs opinion, it's my last resort for a caffeine fix. I've been to this location a few times and have experienced the same results. The staff has poor customer service, they spend more time chatting and singing on this visit with each other. This is with 3 customers waiting for their orders and 5 in line waiting to order. No sense of urgency, I think this will be my last visit to this location. As a former Starbucks partner, it pains me to say this is hands down one of the worst stores I've ever frequented. Unfortunately, it's the closest one to me. Fortunately, there are other options. From taking over 15 minutes to make a drink (a green tea latte... literally all you have to do is team the milk and dump in matcha powder) to scalding milk and getting sizes wrong 80% of the time, it's clear that the high turnover rate isn't doing the store any favors. The folks who work here are wonderful, warm people. I wanted to like this store, honest and true. But if I've already stopped expecting to get a drink made correctly and within a reasonable timeframe, I'm just going to Tribu from now on. My wife and I frequent this Starbucks a couple of times a month. This morning we decided to drop in a get a couple beverages. My wife asked me to order the "Oprah Chai" tea before she stepped in the ladies room. I asked the young man behind the counter if they sold said chai tea because I didn't see the product information behind the counter before I placed my order. He said yes. I ordered a "grande". Unfortunately, he and the barista smirked and made inside jokes. As I watch all of this going on the barista had the audacity to ask me how I was doing. I also noticed after I placed my order is that the "Oprah" product information was placed to the right, high above a case storing coffee or whatever else. This was the first time I was annoyed by any of the Starbucks employees at this location. Needless to say I won't be returning to this location. read more

Love the happiness in a cup I get every time I'm here!! Even when my "complicated order" gets more complicated, they always seem to get it right!! Now, they've gotten so good that my coworkers can take in my pink coffee traveler and my gold card and they already know the order...that is unless, I'm feeling froggy and try something new. Odds of that are slim to none. Eli is always good for a joke or two and while I can't think of the other basristas names- they always seem to remember mine! Love this location. Customer service here is usually spot-on and enjoyable. Hanna especially provides stellar customer service -- a combination of attentiveness, kindness and quality -- as an all-in-one cashier and barista. Espresso was perfectly caramel-colored, milk temperature and frothiness was just right, and she made eye contact as she handed us our drinks. Wonderfully done. read more
