    Mocha and water

I work as an outside sales man and frequent many Starbucks locations all over SD. Matthew greeted me with a friendly hello, took my order and offered me a water. I believe this is the first time that has happened to me at Starbucks. As a former bartender I know any monkey can make a drink but when you're out spending hard earned money you want to be taken care of and that is exactly what Matthew gave me! A++

Starbucks Coffee Master and manager Ryan H proud of the new Clover Vertica.
    Fabio S.

7 years ago I posted about the addition of Clover to this mighty store, sadly it was soon gone. Today 1/10/2024 the Clover is back! The Clover Vertica is the same brewing technology but faster, efficient, and sustainable. I tried the Guatemala today and the flavor was just unrivaled. The friendly Baristas at this store would love to make you a cup of coffee reimagined. Fabio

Cool place to camp. The employees aren't very attentive if you're bleeding on their floor though

    Oatmeal? Or cup of water?
    Kevin H.

This is the absolute worst Starbucks. I've given them multiple chances but continue to disappoint. The manager of this location needs to be fired. Drinks aren't made well, they are consistently out of things (the latest being spoons), which they told me as they hand me my oatmeal). Today's visit: Runniest oatmeal I've ever seen. Drink was ordered hot and they made it iced. Never again!

    French press
    Angel B.

This Starbucks is unlike my OC ones....they have a huge french press called The Clover for my iced coffee which they grind the beans then and there. Then brew it cup by cup. Its like a reverse french press. The brew method leaves the coffee without any bitterness. BTW barista said only 5 SBucks have this machine. Now I feel special. It was the most perfect cup of coffee. I think Im in love....can you be in love with coffee cuz I can. The cashier was kind of cute in a coffee shop kind of way... He fit the typical profile. They also sell 4 cakepops for $5.00 for Vday....instead of flowers bring her cakepops.

My vacationing daughter requested…read morethat I treat her to a morning cup of joe, which made me do a double take because she should be treating her old man, but as many parents can attest, our kiddos will always be our babies, so of course I acquiesced. My baby girl has visited Compa Coffee Roasters (CCR) one time previously, she enjoyed it, and requested that we stop by. This was my first visit to this coffee spot and after just the very first sip of my iced Salted Maple Latte extra sweet, CCR will be seeing this Filipino giant again. Compa Coffee Roasters is located in Rancho Bernardo specifically off the 15 freeway and the Rancho Bernardo Road exit. If you're driving north, make a right after you exit and head east. If you're driving south, make a left after you exit and head east. The coffee joint can be found in The Mercado outdoor shopping center with its anchor store being Barons Market. Besides Barons, Kangnam KBBQ, Pho Cao Dao, Xuan Tailoring & Alterations, Pizza Hut, Fed Ex, and one of our fave boba drink places, Presotea all reside here. There is plenty of parking, but when we visited, it was busy, so you might have to park far. CCR was jam packed when we entered, so obviously I'm a little late to the party of knowing what an awesome coffee spot this is. It's got a really cool vibe with wooden sun art on their walls, flora throughout the space, and the focal point being the diligent baristas doing their thing. There are wooden tables, bench seating, bar top with no bar seating, and plenty of outdoor seating. From the gentleman at the register and the baristas, the staff were friendly and had a positive disposition. Their merchandise was really cool especially their logo tshirts that looked like an old school San Diego Padres logo. I remember when Compa Coffee Roasters had just opened in Rancho Bernardo and I had been meaning to visit, but never got around to checking it out. Blessed that it was my coffee aficionado baby girl who enticed me to go and she was spot on CCR being a good coffee spot. CCR opens at 7am and closes at 6pm. Besides coffee, the java joint serves sandwiches, afternoon eats, variety of food, bagels, toasts, beer, and wine. When I talked to friendly gentleman behind the register, I asked what he recommended for someone who enjoys sweet coffee. He provided several recommendations including their Salted Maple Latte, which is what my daughter had planned to order. I kindly asked for an iced Salted Maple Latte, requesting it to be sweeter, and looked forward to trying my first CCR coffee drink. It was delicious from the first sip to the last, so much so that I savored that drink for quite awhile, which is abnormal for me. That's how tasty it was. It was the perfect sweetness for me, my taste buds could distinguish the coffee, and it was really flavorful. If you're into sweet coffee drinks, I highly recommend CCR's iced Salted Maple Latte extra sweet. You're welcome!!! I'm thankful to God for being able to spend quality time with my baby girl treating her to some cup of Joes from Compa Coffee Roasters. I'm also blessed that our new go to coffee spot is just around the corner from our home.

The pastries looked a bit dry but it could've just been because they'd been out on display for a bit. The two employees working there didn't have much personality but I can't really blame them. It can't be too exciting working at a cafe in the back of a car dealership. The building has a really nice interior, not very coffee-shop giving but if you appreciate pretty architecture you may like it. The food was decent, can't really go wrong with a bagel sandwich. The bacon could've been a bit crispier but it still tasted good. Coffee was alright, I would've liked it more if I had gotten a different milk, it's my fault knowing that almond milk doesn't make for a good frothy latte milk. Overall there wasn't anything too special about the place, but it certainly wasn't bad. I wouldn't go out of my way for it but I have preferences for everything I had elsewhere. If you do happen to be in the area though, give it a shot!

They serve a fair variety of sandwiches and other little items to buy such as coffee and cookies. The location is small with about a total of 5 seating areas including both inside, and out. For service they're all very friendly since it's primarily the family owners who serve you. You go up to the front and place your order and they'll bring the food you order to your table, they do close early since this is a breakfast spot first and foremost, so expect to arrive early if you want to eat here. I usually order The Works in a half since a full size sandwich is well over $20, excluding any additions or substitutions you may make. The sandwich does taste really good, but it does come at a steep price. They've grown in popularity over the years, which may have influenced their pricing (by a lot) which in my opinion does outweigh it's value. While I do enjoy my infrequent visits, I can say this location is more of an occasional treat, as opposed to a constant meal to be had often.

The first three things that came to mind after dining here were high quality ingredients, the customer experience/ambiance, and attention to detail. Eddie who I believe is the gentleman who runs the place was my "cashier" he provided the two recommendations photographed below (I am not a photographer) but I can tell you they were both out of this world. The Prosciutto & Fig, Toast and the Allen's Tuna Cool and Tasty. The staff was warm and inviting, and though this is a coffee shop, they came around table to table, customer to customer and asked how they were doing, and if there was anything they could do to make the experience better. You just don't see that in a coffee shop. This place is an entire experience and it's clearly built around highly effective culture. I will drive out of my way to come here, I discovered this place on a whim and will now be regular. If you get a chance, whether you're a local, or someone just visiting "Cali" give this place a try you won't regret it, ask Eddie about his story of how this place got started with him and his three daughters. I'd be willing to bet you'll add it to your rotation and become a regular yourself.
