The failed on the basics. First and foremost after waiting for 30 minutes I had to ask for my order which they had "forgot" This was a basic Grande Mocha no whip cream, but put into a ceramic mug instead of paper cup. There is no way someone took it by mistake, because they did not have any other orders for ceramic mug. After asking for the order it was produced without any apology for the mistake or long wait. All the available tables to sit at were littered with spills and food scraps from previous customers. It is obvious that no employee had cleaned up the tables for quite sometime. In fact I did not observe anyone taking care of this in the hour I spent in the store. When I tried to clean a table for myself, all the napkin dispensers were empty. I had to ask for a towel, at which they sent someone to fill the napkin dispensers. This was at 1:30 in the afternoon, hardly a peak time. And lastly, they have a major fly problem. It was impossible to leave the cheese and fruit package open as it was immediately swarmed by flies. A truly disgusting experience. When in Grass Valley you should strongly consider one of the coffee bistros downtown as an alternative. read more

The oatmeal was instant. The lady behind the counter dumped the powdery instant crap in to the cardboard container, filled it will the same hot water as they use for tea, put the lid on and served it with a smile. No wonder they can afford to give away pre-packaged individual servings of nuts, fruit and brown sugar crumble, the oatmeal itself was actually the unused and recycled boxes leftover from delivering coffee. Yes, they shredded it and ground it all to crap in their coffee bean grinder, added water and then charged as much for it as a fully loaded vietnamese sandwich. read more

I've been coming here for a couple of years, mostly habit. Employees are usually nice but often stressed out. It gets a ton of traffic. The inside is often filthy, and make sure you check the TP in the bathroom before getting started with your business. Their hours are super inconsistent-- sometimes closing at 9:00, sometimes 9:30, sometimes 10:00, sometimes whenever they feel like, depending on the day of the week and the phase of the moon and who knows. There are some regular foul-smelling transients that camp out inside all day, spreading out a lot of trash, fast food waste, shoes, socks, and they aren't paying customers. None of this is really the employees' fault, seems like management is just absent or apathetic. read more

Very good atmosphere. I went in expecting a line (this particular Starbuck's doesn't have room for long lines). No lines, clean, good atmosphere. The employees were great and the coffee was made perfectly. I will be going back. The only downside to this store is lack of room. When it's busy it's crowded very easily. You don't know who's in line to order and who's already paid waiting for their drinks. They deal with the issue well and the lines go very quickly (if not, for sure I would give this store a 4 instead of a 5) read more

I went 2 days in a row and got watered down half blended coffee , I asked them to remake it due to it's terrible quality and was given an even worse drink with green gunk all over the cup ! I get a pike place coffee and a Americano decaf from them just about every day. The drive through routinely takes 20+ min and the parking lot is full, so no going inside. That is if you can even get in line as it is routinely backed up to the street. Even if there is a parking spot, the spaces are so narrow I can barely open the door enough to get out of the car. They do often get the order wrong, serving caffeinated Americano, or iced when hot is ordered. Who ever the manager is they should be replaced and better staffing & station assignments done. I would have given them only one star but I do like the coffee they make. read more

Just paid 5 plus dollars for one of their holiday drinks (toasted white chocolate mocha) and it tasted straight like warm milk, almost like they forgot to put something in the drink. I've had the toasted white mocha many, many times this season and it has become my favorite drink. I have had this problem a few times with this specific Starbucks where I've recieved drinks from them that don't taste very good at all. If you can, I'd skip this Starbucks and go to the next closest one. read more

Here's a tip, if you have the same people day in and day out occupying seats for hours on end so that people can't even sit and enjoy themselves for a few minutes then there's a problem. Some of these people even bring in desk top computers and sit all day, the employees don't do anything about it. The cleanliness of the place inside and out could use a lot of help. We arrived first thing in the morning and didn't expect to have to wait 15 minutes for 2 lattes. It wasn't crowded. During our wait we noticed the display cases were half-empty & messy and the half and half container was empty. There was no chocolate in the shaker, the whole place looked dirty, and the employees paid more attention to each other than their customers. We sat outside and the garbage can was still so full from the day before that people couldn't throw their cups away. Management needs to run a tighter ship. read more

The shift lead said he forgot to mark it, no offer to relocate my stuff, just vacate that table! This isn't to spotlight the drinks because let's face it everyone knows who and what Starbucks is. This review is because of the amazing customer service we had from Sam. Who is awesome. She was funny and personable. Was able to keep up with 4 different people shouting orders at her and had us laughing out loud. She literally infused our drinks with awesome. Everything is great here in grass valley BUT they advertise cold brew coffee and never have it. I've been there 3 times now and always out. The barista said there's 2 buckets they make it in.... I said you need 3. She gave me a free drink instead.... Now that's customer service. You still need a extra bucket. Thanks tho. read more

I frequent this Starbucks at least 2-3 times a week (especially since I broke my press). The morning crew is spot on don't think I've ever had an issue but the afternoons here are another story. They usually have this I can't be bothered attitude not too mention screwing up a cup of coffee with vanilla cream and whip cream. This place is huge and much roomier than their previous location. It can be a long wait for a cup of coffee, however, this is to be expected when it is the only Starbucks between two towns. I won't lie, I have gotten some not so well made items, such a Chai Latte with so much milk that you can hardly tell there is any Chai in there, etc. But, I know they get busy and rushed, and I have never ever ever encountered one rude employee. If it is a requirement to be nice, respectful, and friendly to work at Starbucks, then this one has it down. A great staff is far more important to me than cleanliness (which they also have got down) and quality. And, for the most part, my drinks are great. read more

This is my LEAST favorite coffee house in the area to go to. Take the long lines in drive through and inside out of it.. we get it, you're the only Starbucks in town and basically the only drive through coffee place, so that's to be expected. However, MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO GET IT TOGETHER!!! Travis, the manager, needs to figure out how to talk to his employees and WHEN the proper time is!! WHEN THEY ARE IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS ISNT IT!! In the other morning and he proceeds to tell the sweet blonde woman on bar that "Have you ever thought about going to a different store? You get too stressed here." How is that an appropriate thing to say in front of customers?? Doesn't handle complaints well, still haven't heard back after a poor interaction with a few of his young partners, don't believe many of them are over 17, that could explain some of the incompetence.. like the young lady that was TEXTING WHILE taking my order. I'm all for multitasking, but when the customizations are wrong at the end, maybe you can't really multitask? Store dirty regularly, always seem understaffed in the evenings, always being told "sorry, we are understaffed today! I'll get right on it!" Love this starbucks. the driveway is a little tricky, it is easier to get in when coming from the road rather than the parking lot.

I've been to this location twice now, and ordered a mocha Frappuccino. The first one had no chocolate, the 2nd had to much. The place had full trash cans and no drink cozies. Not going to this Starbucks again. Better get your coffee from Auburn. read more

Reading others reviewing this made me want to add to the mix. I'm not a coffee house person, rarely go into any of them locally. I spent a good 5 minutes looking over the menu and decided on a simple Latte. After being served, I thought the flavor was bland and by the time I finished realized they foamed the milk but forgot, or intentionally didn't put any espresso into the cup. I think it was either plain incompetence or spite since they probably realized I was an old guy who took forever to check out the menu. Obviously, I won't go back. read more

In my opinion this is the worst Starbucks I have been to. The blended and iced coffee drinks don't taste that great. Their ice taste like dirty tap water. They don't ask if you want whip and even if you tell them "no whip" they still put it on your drink. There was a few times I ordered a blended drink and everytime there was something wrong with it. If you go in to tell them they get annoyed and take it really personal. I get that they are normally really busy and are in a hurry to keep the line/drive-thru going but they need to stop, slow down and listen to the customer. This location really needs to work on their customer service. The Starbucks in the big Safeway is way better. The only reason I gave 2 stars is bc it's convenient to have a drive-thru if you don't want to get out of the car. read more

Filthy and Rude! The man who took our order was somewhat impatient, although there was nobody in line behind us. He open mouth yawned right in front of us. The store, although a lovely Starbucks, was absolutely filthy! The counter where the barista placed our drinks was covered with puddles from numerous drinks that had been made prior to our order. ..I had to get napkins to wipe off the bottoms of our cups. There were spills, splatters, and garbage on the counters and floors. The garbage can was full. The ladies' restroom was out of order; the men's restroom was filthy and nearly out of soap. The staff is pretty much always friendly, so I don't have a problem there. The problem however, is lack of timely service. They take soooo long to get the drive thru customers through, its terrible. The manager should train the staff to make the drive thru customers a top priority as the cars end up funneling on to the street, and blocking the on coming traffic.
