My review of Starbucks Kailua is based on early Sunday mornings since this is the only time I go there after my morning workout. It is located in the strip mall right next to Jamba Juice and Teddy's Bigger Burger. It's nice when you go the same time on the same day of the week since you usually get the same Barista. Eventually they'll know what you want and actually start making your drink when they see you walk in the door which is great! It is smaller than your average Starbucks. There is limited seating inside but there are tables outside which can accommodate a group of 10. Personally I like the outdoor seating being you're in Kailua and want to enjoy the ambiance. Compared to other Starbucks that I patronize, this one gets drinks out very quickly. Part of that is since I'm there early there isn't much customers but even when there is a line, the friendly baristas get the drinks out with a smile. read more

It's a great spot but the last 4 times I have been here, my order has been anything but correct. It seems they make it the standard way. I am not too picky they get the skinny or full fat down but less than the standard mocha pumps or other small request just don't get done. Sometimes the waits can be super long in the morning but that is understandable as a lot of people go there. Mobile order has been down several times which makes it difficult as that makes the wait go down faster. Staff is nice. They mess up drinks quite a bit during rush hour but they will quickly fix it if asked. read more

I've been here several times between 7-8am for mobile orders and this is the busiest Starbucks besides the original store in Seattle. It seriously takes 10-15 minutes and sometimes even 20 minutes for a mobile order. It is obnoxious. I only order a pike's place coffee which they pour from a tap that has already made coffee so I'm not sure the order of attention they put on their mobile orders but it needs to be a bit quicker. Today's order was placed at 7:44 and it's 7:57 & I had to ask and finally they got me my coffee. Needless to say, be sure you have ample time to park and wait 15 minutes for your order read more

Ok, as most coffee aficionados aka coffee snobs know, Starbucks usually has clean bathrooms, free Wifi, lots of outlets to plug in your electronic drug of choice, nice seating and coffee made with filtered water and replaced regularly so it is always fresh and never burnt tasting. Baristas are on top of their game here. Yes I came here and asked for a couple off the menu drinks and they hooked us up. Off the menu items you ask??? Yes, what I am about to share with you is some of the secret menu that they have shared with me and that I have personally ordered and tasted. Hold on to your sippy cups and take some notes so you, yes you can order like a pro and impress your friends and confuse some customers as they try to look for what you just ordered as these are not listed on their menu board. Ok here we go: Captain Crunch Frappuccino: If you like Frappuccinos you will love this refreshing strawberry and creme treat. It has one shot of caramel, two shots of toffee, one shot of hazelnut, and two scoops of chocolate chips. I prefer mine without the chocolate chips. Snickers Frappuccino: Ok if you like snickers then this one is for you. It has two pumps of toffee nut and caramal drizzle on top. YUMMY!!! Biscotti Frappuccino: Buy a piece of your favorite biscotti and ask the barista to blend it with your choice of frappuccino. It will give tiny biscotti bits that will add big flavor to your frapp! Butterbeer Frappuccino: Ok so you are a Harry Potter fan and you wanted a butterbeer but didn't want to the Three Broomsticks to get one. Well you can now get it at your local Starbucks. if they don't know what's inside, just ask for a creme frappuccino base made with whole milk and whipped cream. Add in 3 pumps of caramel syrup, 3 pumps of toffee nut syrup and caramel drizzle. Better watch out as this drink might put you under a spell that keeps you coming back for more. You are not a big Frappuccino drinker??? No worries, try some of these drinks. If you are like me and either don't sleep much or you need to have that pick me up... try the next two drinks. Dirty Chai: It's a Chai Latte, hot or cold, make it dirty! The dirty is a shot of espresso. If one isn't enough then get a double. Once I got a triple but it came out a little too bitter for my taste but it did the job and gave me that boost. Liquid Cocaine: Okay this drink might have you bouncing off the walls but is soooo worth it. What's inside... Order 4 shots of espresso and 4 pumps of white chocolate syrup over ice in a grande cold cup. Stir and get ready for blast off. Make sure you tell them not to add any milk so it will be pure caffeine and sugar. Strawberry Lemonade: More in the mood for a refreshing drink then this one might be for you. It's not on the menu but you can order it without explaining it to them. It's pink strawberry lemonade slush that will have you licking your lips. I know there is a bunch more but I haven't tasted them yet. But these ones were the ones I tried. Have fun and enjoy! Kailua Starbucks is the worst Starbucks I been to. I been there several times and each time I had a problem with the coffee. This last one was the worst out of all the times I been there. I had ordered a hot chocolate. When I got my hot chocolate I tasted it and it tasted a bit funny. After taking a few sips and my husband even tasted it and he said that it didnt taste right. So I took off the cover and looked inside. It did not look like hot chocolate. It looked like chocolate with oil mixed. Later that night I threw up and my husband and I was not feeling well. If your on the windward side and want Starbucks, kaneohe or target kailua is good. Had no problems when I went there. read more

This kailua starbucks is convenient if you find yourself near kailua town. It's also newly renovated, with a nice stone table outside. It is also a very popular starbucks, throughout the entire day; there always seems to be a line, even a short one, at the most random times. The baristas are very nice here and they usually have a variety of food options. I noticed that they changed the look of their menus recently, so not all their normal options are listed on the large menu. This isn't really a problem for me because I'm such a starbucks fanatic that being a starbucks barista would actually be a very fitting job for me :) I have had my fair share of awkward encounters here, particularly when it comes to other customers not realizing there is a line! Come on kailuans, be a little more observant! They just changed the layout of this store when they renovated, so the line switched directions, but that's really no excuse. Smh. read more

Normally I love starbucks but when they got my drink wrong at the cash register as I said everything I wanted... the person who prepared the drink (Tiffany) was beyond rude. She proceeded to tell me that I said the wrong drink... I said Strawberry Acai with coconut milk, no strawberries, light on the acai... she said I should have said pink drink... well ok, got it but how am I supposed to know what it is called, that is how I have always ordered it... then when she made it again, it was wrong and still hd strawberries... we could see how she was obviously annoyed... I used to come to this location very often. The servers were working hard to satisfy everybody's drink orders. Very busy. It was fine service. The issue for me is I noticed they had changed the more comfortable seating Instead of tables inside, to a long tablebar against one side wall opposite the main order area. I did not feel like I could sit comfortably. It was not inviting to linger over coffee. Then I asked for the code to the bathroom, the nice barista said there is no code it's open. THE BATHROOM WAS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING I needed to pee so bad but it almost made me PUKE. I couldn't even walk into the restroom. I promptly left. I won't be back. The clean bathroom was why I would come to Starbucks in the first place. I'll make coffee at home or skip it altogether. read more

Showed up this morning at about 7:15, we weren't greeted. I walked towards the bathrooms and noticed a sign that says that their bathroom was no longer for customers so I asked where the bathroom was and was barked at by a rude associate named "Bella," who rolled her eyes and told me to walk around the whole building. I walked back over to the bar area to wait for our mobile order. Her associate was bringing food over for a different mobile order (short shaved blonde), Bella was explaining to the customer that they were just waiting on the customers food and the other lady walks behind her and very loudly says "Just Chill out, it's here it's here." After being there a few minutes a few other customers walked in, they were greeted and asked their name for mobile pick up, Bella grabbed their drinks smiled and moved on to the next customer. After about 5 minutes of us waiting and other people being greeted she rolled her eyes toward me and asked our name. We were given our drinks and we walked out. Pretty bad customer service and pretty rude ladies at that store. I'll wait for Target Starbucks to open next time. You work in customer service, maybe learn some manners. read more

Kailua town = WICKED crowded. I kid you not, the line was literally out the door!!! We were there on a Sunday morning, which may have contributed to the coffee rush, but we've been here at other days/times and there's always a line. That being said ...... They were extremely efficient (and pleasant) and the line moved very quickly. As I've come to know and frankly expect from Starbucks, the quality of coffee and treats were absolutely fantastic. I have been a frequent customer since September 2010 on the Windward side. My 5 year old son and I usually stop in 1-2 times a week at least during early afternoon hours for a quick treat close to home. From my past job experiences I've always worked and had responsibilities of giving 100% customer service to the consumer. I was also a Starbucks Barista at one point so I have a general idea of what the company is expecting of their staff from knowing their "REGULAR" customers, to what specific drink(s) they order, or even their first names at the drop of a hat. I worked at 2 different Starbucks locations in the past, one having drive-thru service and the other being a lobby only store. Our staff always kept track of who supported our store often and recognized them, IT'S NOT THAT DIFFICULT!!!! I feel like it's just common courtesy and way of showing respect to the customer when they see these same employees on a day to day basis every week... Instead of pretending like they don't recognize them at all. From my Starbucks experience at this location it has just been so, so, and I'm to the point where I almost don't want to be at customer here anymore. This is the best Starbucks that I have ever visited. The location is magnificent with beautiful and unique "modern" decor inside that somehow evokes the hawaiian style and a wonderful outdoor patio seating area in a lush tropical environment only seconds from major Kailua shopping and dining experiences. Parklng is very easy but unobtrusive. The counter service is the best of any Starbucks by far, including those in Europe and Asia that I frequent. The Coffee drinks that are served at this Starbucks are superb and always top notch in quality and presentation. The food is fresh, crispy and well plated, with lots of choices for breakfast or just a sweet accompaniment to your specialty espresso drink. They even have vegetarian options and will use fresh soy milk if you ask. I n short, this is the best Starbucks you will likely have the pleasure to visit; trust me, I have been to many and none compare to this one! read more

I use Starbucks as a means for charging up my iPhone and just chilling here when I really have no place to go to in Kailua - and just to get away from the ills of Honolulu. Don't get me wrong, I love Starbucks' drinks and food offerings, but it had come to my attention that I'm just saving up my $$ and not spend it on frivolous things - like expensive cups of coffee. Yes, I do brew my own at home, but its not the Starbucks beans. I do miss the Starbucks daily brews, but you gotta do what you gotta do, I suppose. This Starbucks was humming on the weekend, so that's cool. Plenty of people in the lines and plenty of people just chilling out and working like it was a library, but not as quiet. The usual drinks I formerly get are the frappuchinos and the daily house brews. Starbucks is just like any other fast food establishment, they just happen to be the proveyors of coffee at its purest form and I love coming here and smelling fresh brewed coffee every time I step into this place or any Starbucks location. Hearing the baristas screaming customers names and what drink they ordered brings music to my ears too. Still continually grateful for the baristas not kicking me out for just hanging out and not buying anything - using their wifi and the electricity to juice up my iPhone. Love you Starbucks! This is my Starbucks. By that, I mean this is my home Starbucks. I work and live in Kailua, so this is the one for me. In fact, when I am in town or out & about, I feel like I'm cheating. Just a little. This Starbucks is in the little strip mall with Mahina & Global Village. There is a Pokémon gym & PokeStop here. There is a small parking lot that can get full during various times of the day. This place seems to be ALWAYS be busy. I use the easy way to get my drink. I order ahead using my Starbucks app! That way I am in & out. Really helps when I run over for that 'I am DESPERATE' Matcha tea latte with soy milk drink. The staff works fast, so people are in & out. There is seating outside & inside for those who can take their time and enjoy their drinks or just catch the beauty of a well done cup! It's so nice to be able to park and walk into a Starbucks with AC on blast on a hot summer day! I was pushing my kid in the stroller and he was burning up outside and immediately stopped fussing when we got inside Starbucks. Lol. Even babies like the smell of Coffee just kidding!! It was definitely the AC that put a smile on his face. That and the expensive organic Rabbit brand baby food pouches. They had run out of his favorite strawberry banana flavor so I ended up getting the apple grape pouch while he didn't like as much. :( Well I got my daily dose of sugar from the addictive S'mores Frappuccino. I know I had one yesterday but YOLO. They're just so dang good. I really love the friendly service here. When I asked the cashier if she could break a $10 she didn't have the cash register open so she went to another employee and they got it open just so I could get some smaller bills. I wanted to get the smaller bills so I could leave a tip but I didn't tell her and just gave her a tip after receiving the change. She was so nice about it all and even said "Thank you! You didn't have to do that!" But it's only right to tip for good service. The place was busy almost every seat was taken inside and outside but I managed to find a table seat after getting my drink. I plugged my charger into the outlet and baby and I chilled for a bit as I finished my S'mores Frappucino and he ate his other baby food. :) Note: Their restrooms require a code so those that haven't purchased anything can't use the restroom. Love this Starbucks, it can be very busy so the order ahead feature is extremely helpful. I go here almost every day and the workers sometimes greet us by name. They set out your order ahead drinks when it's not rush hour so you can just walk in and grab it. They almost always say hi and thank you. I know they run out of stuff but it's not their fault that we run out of stuff frequently on the island due to a number of things out of their control. Also their hours are awesome, love that I can get a coffee here and make it to the beach for sunrise AND and I work night shift and they are open late enough I can get coffee before work. read more

I go here often, like a few times a week, and lately they have been really dropping the ball There haven't been many people in store ordering but always TONS of mobile orders and rarely is one staff person posted up there taking care of those orders. So people coming in to get their mobile orders end up crowding by that pick up area waiting while their coffees get cold or the ice melts. Today was the reason I felt like I needed to write a review bc again everyone was waiting for somebody to address what looked like 10-15 mobile orders waiting with about 7 people waiting and not one staff member looking like they were taking care of the people coming in the door for the mobile orders ‍ I finally got my drink and they made it wrong (forgot my almond milk so it's just a black cold brew yuck) (probably bc they're so busy and overwhelmed), but I didn't notice until I was on the road (bc I had to rush out since I spent so much time waiting). Really been disappointed lately with this starbucks, despite how good and friendly the staff usually is. There are just some people who aren't cut out for a customer service job-one being the cashier who helped me this morning. With a very brash greeting, she had me rubbed the wrong way already with just her "Hi". Instead of asking for my name politely, she barked "What's your name" after I had placed my order. However her tone became friendlier when she asked if I needed a receipt-bipolar much? To top it off, she basically threw my sandwich at me and said "Here you go" I wasn't expecting a bubbly, sweet borderline fake attitude but a smile, please and thank you, goes a long way. Kailua Starbucks is my favorite Starbucks. I've traveled all over the country and this is the most friendly location I've ever been to. Every day the baristas are slammed with mobile orders and people waiting in line but they manage to greet people as they walk in the door. I've seen the crew correct mistakes they've made and keep the line moving. The wait is a bit longer than most locations because they have so many orders, but a few minutes extra doesn't bother me. Wow- this place is so not crowded even on a Sat morning. I guess people going to the beach do not need as much coffee out there on the Windward side. I'm on my way to Kailua Beach and stop off in Kailua town side to grab a drink to drink with my breakfast that I brought over the hill. I knew I wanted to eat and drink outside in the side since I don't know how well outside food is looked at over there in Kailua Town at inside places like Whole Foods. The place is really not crowded at all- 1 person in line and helpful staff not in the hurry that the Honolulu downtown barristers are in all the time. Coffee-wise. It is the same. I mean what o you expect- same good service, same tasting coffee. Just the fact that there are so many less people and so much more open seating outside especially. I'd never dream of going there before work- but hey on the weekends before beach now I know how easy it is compared to Kahala Starbucks on a normal Sat that has a line out the door- on a weekend! Most apathetic staff I've ever experienced at a Starbucks. The girl who took my order (a grande ices coffee in a venti cup, unsweetened) didn't ask me if I wanted a receipt and never acknowledged the end of my order. She went over and made my drink in a regular grande cup. Shows how much she was paying attention... She was much more interested in gossiping with the other two girls working. If I didn't work in Kailua this would NEVER be my choice to order a drink here. Rude people snobby roll their eyes talk to eachother... I ordered 2 coffees a bistro box and a sausage roll. Barely into my order the lady tells me my total and I say hey wait I have one more drink... She rolled her eyes at me ! Took my order n I had my skateboard... My hydro flask an my bag. She didn't bother to offer me a package for my bistro box. I get my drinks and my sandwich lady rolls her eyes at me.. A DIFFERENT ONE. I'm like wtf ? N den I ask hey can I get a package. I don't know if it was just an off day, or if something is just wrong at this Starbucks! So, I went in to order a Super hot Mocha-venti, and a venti-white chocolate mocha frap with a shot of expresso and whipped cream. First, the girl who took my order rolls her eyes when she got my order wrong. She didn't even read back my order, I only caught the mistake because she didn't write it down on a plastic cup... then, the barista took FOREVER to make my drinks. I think she skipped ahead a couple of people who seemed to be her friends. I know things are more laid back in Kailua, but this was just a ridiculous experience. I'd say I'm never going back here, but I know I'd be fibbing cause it's the only one that's convenient in that area... *sigh* read more

I am a Starbucks Gold Card member and a former employee. This is the third time I have come to this location bc I live on the North Shore ( I used to work at the Pupukea location which is now a coffee bean) Anyway, the service here is average. The staff is not as friendly as the other locations. This morning I had to ask for the holiday stamp card ( I got a gingerbread latte) she didn't give it to me with my holiday drink. And when I asked for the card she told me if I have a holiday drink, when I just ordered one. The barista also didn't say anything when she put out my drink, lucky I know how to read the cup. I asked for my oat cake to be heated and she gave it to me cold... So I had to ask again. read more

I always receive pleasant and prompt service at this location. I can usually find an empty table between the inside or outside space. And parking is really easy.
