I come here all the time its one of my favorite spot while i am in kailua. Just haven't been able to come in a while. When i went there yesterday the entire crew was new & they change their stamp card to $5 a stamp now. The new crew have no idea to make my simple lychee iced tea. The tea tasted real bitter & had tea leaf in it like it was over brew. Terrible! They did not know how to make a Mango cold brew they basically gave me mango iced tea. What happened to this place. This coffee bean has been here forever and even though I don't usually stop here to get coffee, I have had positive experiences here over the many years they've been open. Recently, I needed to order a large batch of coffee early in the morning. I was thinking I could just get bottles of cold brew from Safeway, but remembered I had a bunch of coffee bean gift cards, so opted to call coffee bean to see if they could make me some boxes of coffee at 5:30am when they opened. The girl I talked to was really nice and helpful. I think she may have been a manager, but even if she was just a regular worker, I commend her for being so pleasant so early in the morning. I honestly like coffee bean more than Starbucks because they have a better variety of drinks I think. I like that the stamp cards like never expire... I think I have some that are 5-10 years old at this point and that you can get gift cards from Costco that make your drinks or food 20% off. I am also really into the pesto pasta, but that's not that important. They do offer quite a few food options though, and a lot of it seems fresher than Starbucks' previously frozen foods. Right now, the plantation iced tea with lilikoi and lihing is a popular tiktok trend, so I've been getting a version of that. I also like the peach cold brew, the lychee tea and their iced coffee. They have a whole menu of blended beverages, but I never get those.... I also don't like Frappuccinos from Starbucks, so I think they're similar. This location doesn't have seating like some of the other locations do, but it's conveniently located inside Foodland, so you can get your shopping done here with a nice coffee bean drink in hand. read more

It hit the spot after spending the afternoon at the beach. I love the setup and you can forget that they are connected to Foodland. Keep forgetting to leave a nice note, so I apologize but I will say this; I've enjoyed this shop's drinks & food for a long while and the food & drinks are really yummy. Ofc there's hiccups here & there like everywhere but once you learn how you like your order from them & understand how they do it- it becomes all good. Highly recommend their Turkey, Pesto, Tomato Mozzarella sandwich (warmed up) & the Venti Lilikoi Plantation Iced Tea (with extra ice if you like the drink cold & extra syrup if you like it sweet). I'm not a fan of their baked sweets or macarons cup sadly but they always look good (already tried them all personally before). Shop entrance is their own door close to the parking lot & nearest to left of the Kailua Foodland entrance. They have a nice selection of Stanley/Starbucks/Coffee Bean cups, tumblers, & bags. Food (2/5): I tried three drinks: the Vietnamese latte, matcha latte, and a regular latte. Unless you're a sweet tooth, the drinks are subpar in terms of flavor. The matcha latte was strongly overpowered by the excess sweetness. The Vietnamese latte had lackluster flavor. The regular latte was pretty standard but nothing memorable. Service (4.5/5): The staff are extremely friendly. They tried giving me a drink with no sugar when I ordered a matcha latte, so they accidentally charged/gave me a regular latte, and when I told them they made the matcha latte with no additional charge or hesitation. There is also no pressure to tip, which was cool. Ambiance (3.75/5): This location is connected to a foodland, so it really is a grab and go, which was perfect for my party's beach day. I am not a Hawaii local, but probably would not come back since I've had so many better lattes elsewhere. read more

Using a gift card in Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii... Staying home during this quarantine period has resulted in some benefits. For example, I had time to go through my piles of mail and I found a gift card from my friend, Craig Y. LOL! Belated thank you, Craig! So, before I lose it or forget about it, I took my gift card to the nearest The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf which is in Kailua. I read reviews which informed me that this shop is located inside of Foodland (next to Big City Diner) - to the immediate left of the entrance. I had been to The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in Los Angeles because they were having a special $3 blended drink. Lyla encouraged me to get the app which I used there. I thought that I could use the app here in Kailua. However, this store doesn't participate in that program. Instead, I was offered a stamp card. Also, the $3 blended drink is only available on Thursdays. Hmmm... I didn't read that in the email... So - I ordered a Blood Orange Brew Tea and an Avocado Toast. I really liked both items! The tea was fruity and not too sweet! I didn't think that I would like the sprouts on the Avocado Toast, but they worked! It was a yummy lunch! Maybe I'll try a different location that participates with the app. Or - maybe I'll return and just use the stamp card...because it expires on 12.31.20... I started frequenting The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf when I started working across the street approximately 3 years ago. The main reason was because it was the closest place to get coffee and usually wasn't too busy, if at all, in the mornings when we opened. Over the years, I've gotten to know the staff really well, and then in passing due to my ever changing work schedule, but I've always appreciated the customer service that I've received from everyone. Most recently, I stopped by to get some Secret Santa gift cards, and the wonderful Sana was at the register to assist me. She was not only quick to acknowledge and take care of me the moment I stepped in, but also informed me of a special that they had going on regarding gift card purchases and a free drink for the buyer. So not only was I able to take care of my Secret Santa recipient, but I also got a free drink for myself, which Sana made sure to note on my receipt since they were currently out of vouchers. I personally thought it was really sweet that she did that, considering I wouldn't have even known about the drink. But it's the small things like that, that really make this particular Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf so wonderful. They also have quite the creatives since their blackboard/chalkboard near the waiting area always has a really quirky design or art piece that's sure to make anyone smile. Overall, I would highly recommend Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf if you're in the area. They have a rotating seasonal drink and food menu, as well as tried and true favorites (I absolutely adore their Cold Brew Teas and Egg Sandwiches!). The employees are always super attentive and friendly, and I really have no complaints. Plus, if you're in Foodland and in need of caffeine, it's the perfect pit stop. *FYI: If anyone has a digital gift card on the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf app., you can still use it at this location. Just let the employee at the register know and they'll do something on their end, so that you can input your gift card number on the credit card machine. You know when you go to someplace over & over again, you think why? Well, one day I broke out of my habit of going to the BIG NAME coffee place & came here. The Coffee Bean is located in Foodland next to Big City Diner in Kailua. As soon as you go into the Foodland entrance look/go right. To order the register is closer to the parking lot. The pick up area is near the Foodland registers. The menu is above the register area. Besides hot and cold drinks, they also have a display of baked goods for sale. My 2 obsessions for this place is the blended salted caramel cocoa and the cold brew vanilla bean latte. Soooo good! The cold brew is amazing and hits the spot. The Cocoa is for my sweet tooth. Definitely worth my daily visit. The prices are comparable to the other coffee place. They do have a stamp rewards card. (Hubby holds my cards because I have a tendency to lose them.) Service here can be slow at busier times, but I've only seen 2 people working the location. I usually have time, so I can handle the wait. If you ever just want to try something new or just need a vacation from your normal coffee place, I definitely recommend trying The Coffee Bean. 80 read more

T.G.I.M (Thank Goodness It's Monday!) said no one ever! I dread Monday mornings not because I hate my job but because of what time I have to wake up-4 a.m! Womp, womp. So whenever I'm working at the Kailua store, I often visit The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf-especially when they have their Mo'Joe Monday deal! I follow them on Instagram so they do a pretty good job of reminding me of what delicious drink they'd be serving at an amazing low price. I've gotten special kine lattes for as low as $1.99 but most of their Mo'Joe Mondays range from $3 or less and they mix it up between coffee and tea so no one gets left out. Starbucks ain't got nothing on that kind of deal! The size of these special priced drinks may be small but the flavors go big! The service is pretty good too. They're friendly (yes even at 6 a.m) and get you in and out of there so fast that there's never really time for a line to form and before you know it you're enjoying your cup of joe, or tea in hand and ready to face Monday head on. They are inside of Foodland but have a separate entrance so you don't necessarily have to go into the grocery store if you're trying to avoid that crowd. If not, it's quite convenient that you could get some coffee/tea and go grocery shopping or pick up any necessities in one trip. Their new seasonal flavor at the moment is Horchata! It's a blend of rice milk, warm cinnamon, sweet vanilla and infused with rich espresso. Traditional horchata is my go-to every time I see it offered else where but to pair it with my other favorite beverage, oh man just take all my money already! Best holiday drink ever... the pumpkin spice chai tea latte HOTTT and their avocado toast with bacon... the best combination ever

This Coffee Bean location is a little out of the ordinary, in that it's within Foodland. From the parking lot, you can see the entrance (it's a little closer to the Big City Diner) and the Coffee Bean itself seems rather small - at least, where you can look at the menu and display case and place your order. However, if you look to the right, there's an extended seating area. My friend that I usually come to this Coffee Bean with and I usually have no problem finding seating ... it's just a little awkward to keep going back and forth between the bar and the seating area to get the condiments and your orders. I always enjoy interacting with the workers at this Coffee Bean - they're always friendly, helpful and patient when my friend and I are indecisive with our orders. And, they're always fast in getting things done and keeping the eating area clean. Here's what we've ordered before: Hazelnut Latte: This tends to be my go-to drink order for hot coffee, unless there's a seasonal flavor (Cookie Butter, Pumpkin Spice, Red Velvet) that I want to try. I love the sweet, subtle hazelnut flavor in this latte, and I always order it with soy milk so it doesn't give me an upset stomach. Coffee Cake Muffin: I love coffee cake, so I had high hopes for this delicious-looking muffin. While my friend and I enjoyed the coffee cake crumbles on top, the muffin itself was rather dry. My friend and I were expecting the muffin to be moist and buttery ... so, while we were glad we ventured out and ordered something new, we probably will not be ordering this item again. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Brownie: This is one of my favorite dessert items to get from Coffee Bean. This never fails, in terms of deliciousness. I love the fudgy chocolate brownie, but I also love the rich, creamy, peanut butter ribbon that's woven into it. I'm a huge fan of strong, creamy peanut butter flavors, so this doesn't disappoint. This tends to be my go-to order; when I got it for the first time, I knew it would be difficult to deviate from. Pumpkin Crunch: When I don't feel like ordering something chocolaty, I often get the pumpkin crunch because it doesn't actually sport a strong pumpkin flavor. I especially like the crust because it's crunchy and I enjoy this version because it doesn't have a huge, thick layer of whipped cream. I normally drink dark roast coffee black so I rarely go to a coffee shop. Stopped by a couple days ago and as I was talking to the barista about the different coffee drinks I decided to order a cappuccino. It was great and went well with my morning cigar. The baristas were really nice and helpful and they didn't kind all my questions. Went back again tonight and it was a different crew. Ordered another cappuccino and the taste and quality was the same. It was just as good as the first one I had. These baristas were just as nice and helpful. The couple of drinks I had there were consistently great and the service was also consistently good. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has been located in the same little corner of Foodland for as long as I can remember. Before I was a big coffee drinker, I used to love getting their ice blended drinks because it provided a small kick of caffeine and a whole bunch of sweetness. Now that I have a more acquired taste for coffee, I find that the ice blended drinks are a little too sweet for me, and I don't think that they're quite worth the price. Still, $5 isn't too much to ask for, especially since that's the price for a latte at any coffee shop (excluding Starbucks) nowadays. This past visit, I ordered the dark chocolate ice blended drink. This coffee shop is located inside of Foodland and is quite busy in the mornings. Their Chai Tea Lattes are delicious and just what I need to start my day. Service is good - but some barista are friendlier than others. They have a good selection of pastries and pre-made goodies. The blueberry bar is tasty, a little dry, but tasty nonetheless. They also offer a guava cupcake that I can't wait to to try! Unfortunately cupcakes don't make for a good breakfast......so next time. If you plan on visiting frequently, plan on getting a frequent buyer card! I had a full card, ordered a chai and a drip coffee and they comped my chai! Located inside the Kailua Foodland (http://www.yelp.com/biz/foodland-super-market-ltd-kailua) is a great coffee spot to relax and plug in the laptop for some wifi time. The wifi is free with the purchase of a drink, just ask them when you're paying. Their tabled area is separate from the cafe, but is just located across the entrance of the Foodland. It's usually quite empty and there are plenty of power plugs if you sit at the "bar" area that looks out toward the front of the building. There are also some comfy coffee lounge chair to sit in. Parking isn't too bad, but the spaces can be a little tight backing in and out. read more
