Last week while I was working on the big island, I had some scheduled work appointments in Kea'au, Honoka'a, & Kealakekua. After finishing my job in Honoka'a, I made my way up north to Kamuela town, and I decided to stop by the local Starbucks that was located at the Parker Ranch Center. Upon walking into the coffee shop, there was a short line. The wait wasn't too bad, but after placing my coffee order for a dark roast coffee, I asked the barista for - "very little cream" in the coffee. When the barista put the cream in my coffee, her back was turned to me, so I couldn't actually see how much cream she was actually putting into my coffee (ya get where I'm going with this?). After picking up my cup of Joe, and heading off to my rental car, after I took a sip on my coffee, I literally spit it out & opened the lid of my coffee cup to take a look at my coffee! Aiyah! My dark roast coffee turned into a very light tan colored coffee, as the barista dumped so much cream in my coffee, it was ruined! Yeah, I get it.........we can't put our own cream in our drinks, as we're in the middle of a pandemic, but may I suggest the next time the barista puts cream in a customer's drink, at least do it in front of the customer, so that the customer can tell the barista how much they meant when I said "very little cream???". IT REALLY ISN'T TOO HARD TO DO THIS!!! On one of my recent coffee visits I had at the Honolulu Coffee Company, the professional barista, did exactly that for me, to make the perfect cup of coffee. So at the end, I basically wasted $3 bucks & some change because the barista basically doesn't know how to make a coffee and put in cream! Aiyah!!! read more

Starbucks Kamuela has really taken a dive. What happened to all the old faces? There are all new faces and it seems like they dont have business hours. They open and close whenever they feel like it. Corporate offices of Starbucks really cracked down on this store and it's employees. The way it's been operated right now. There wouldn't be a huge change if they just fired everybody and just closed on the store. read more

Purchased a bottle of water that was $2.62 I paid with Apple Pay as I'm headed back to Hilo town I got a notification from my credit card on my phone [5-10min after I left] that I was charged $7.62 for a bottle of water. I called the store immediately and asked why, the woman on the phone said I would have to come back with my receipt which I was never asked if I needed one for my purchase she then said about how long ago and I told her no 5-10min she said she found the receipt and it showed that I added a $5 gratuity on the bill that I never authorized she then asked the manager what to do and he voided the whole transaction. I haven't seen this transaction removed from my card yet. I don't feel safe ever going to this Starbucks again. I've read more

Placed a mobile order at this location only to arrive at the store and find that they closed early. If you knew you were closing early you should've turned off the mobile order in the store (I know it can be done!!). To top it off I called the store to have them cancel my order. They said for that to happen I have to physically be there. I told them I'm in my car and can walk to the door in a second. Then they proceeded to tell me they can't cancel my order because the cash registers are shut down. The only options I have is to drive 15 miles to the nearest Starbucks at Queens Marketplace or come back tomorrow to cancel the order. Well you know what.....I spent $26 on this order and writing this scathing review is worth more than what I spent. Take my order and shove it!!! read more

Regardless of the rating people will go to this location because the next closest one is like a 30 min drive to Waikoloa, this location is very busy so use mobile order to order way ahead of time if you aren't willing to wait. Service is friendly and the menu tastes like any other location and your order will be up to standard. read more

I mobile ordered my normal drink, iced blonde vanilla latte with vanilla cold foam. I ordered it at 7:50am this morning on the drive into work, I parked and walked in to see my mobile order looking differently than normal. I asked the barista working, "Oh! Did you run out of cold foam?" She responded, "No, it melted by now" very rudely. I look at my drink order time and walk back to my car. I look at my clock in my car at 7:56am. You mean to say, I placed my order at 7:50am and in time to grab my ticket, make my drink, apply the cold foam... in less than 6 minutes my cold foam has melted???? I take a sip and it doesn't taste anything like the same order I placed yesterday afternoon at the same Starbucks using my mobile app to order it. The inconsistency is what gets me. read more

Again went to the local Starbucks and had a great time it was first thing in the morning the customer service reps were cherry and on the ball a friend And I met a little after 5 AM for coffee and some study and we had a great experience. went in again today and the staff was amazing. Soy latte in house cup for a friend and Expresso for me in house cup. very good experience. happy friendly fast service . place was clean Fireplace still broken. been broken for years. either fix it correctly or remove it and make more seating common corporate also let the individual stores make the music selection and control the temperature. Having corporate control the temperature from Seattle makes no sense I don't care what your analyst say you're not going to sell more coffee or move us through the line quicker just gonna choose to go somewhere else on a cold day you keep the AC up really high and the fireplace broken those are my negatives read more

I know I know. I was in Hawaii, famous for Kona coffee, and its associated plantations and specialty drinks and food, and I find myself at a Starbucks. But I swear that this was the only chain food/drink establishment I frequented during our recent stay on the Big Island. Gayle, Jim, Erin, and I were heading towards Hilo and had stopped at the nearby Foodland for some provisions. And since Starbucks was right here, why not? Once inside, I felt immediately comfortable within the community vibe (people and bulletin board postings), and enjoyed listening to various interesting conversations. My strong black coffee was very good, while Gayle enjoyed here latte. The specialty drinks production line seemed a bit deliberate, but you couldn't argue the work ethic and pride of ownership among the staff. read more

Driving over from Hilo I had high expectations that I would walk in and find a hot just-brewed cup of Kona coffee waiting for me. Nope. Still, this is a nice respite from a day of island hopping and I think just about every mainlander with a Starbucks card makes a pilgrimage here to pay homage and get a little energy boost before heading back on the road and on to the delights of Kona and beyond. Lots of comfortable chairs - more than most - and the staff was outgoing and friendly. Nothing more than average Starbucks store. First at all in general cleanness of stores should be improved. If upper management decided to open restrooms to everyone it also should add a employee to help keep stores more clean. Flat white was standard, but americano on ice very weak. Short on coffee. App was showing that store is out of stock for classic coffee cake, but it has plenty of them when we ask the employee. read more

It's just like any other 5 million Starbucks shops you've been in. hahhaaha, really though. This one would be a little unique that it has some cool decor of some old pictures of Waimea Parker Ranch. But really not much to report here. The manager, Melanie (Leena on badge) has no respect to their customers. We made it very clear before ordering that we are vegetarian and we don't consume eggs. When we asked if the butter croissant has eggs her immediately reply was THERE IS NO EGG. We asked again just to make sure she heard us right. She said again, there is no egg and she asked if we were okay with butter for which we said yes, butter is okay. We made the purchase, we started eating and in half way, we felt it's too soft for a non-Egg dish and looked upon Starbucks website where it indeed mentions in the ingredients that Butter Croissant contains EGG. When we confronted her again with proof she got frustrated and wasn't feeling sorry for it. It seemed even if a person is choking to death out of allergic reaction to Egg, she would offer a refund with a smile on her face and no guilt and she did say, she's not sorry for it. This kind of behaviour is extremely inappropriate and not acceptable. read more

Giving this a 5 star review cause it's mean to give anything less and I know it's not the fault of the staff that they are out of ingredients... But literally every time I try to order Salted Caramel drink they are out of the salt for it. I've asked multiple times at the register if they have it and they've said yes only to find out as I'm being handed the drink that they don't have it. If I was told earlier I could order one of the many other delicious drinks. Anyway, rant over, sorry. To our surprise the Barista had no idea how to do a caramel macchiato. She made the drink, then squirted in a ton of caramel so it sank to the bottom, then finished with whip cream. Strange... She didn't have an 'in training' tag on. Maybe they do things differently in Hawai'i? read more

Review #1 for 2018 The best thing about this Starbucks is that it's the only one for 20+ miles in either direction. If you're coming from/going to Hilo, it's 60 miles, and if you're coming from/going to Waikoloa/Kona, it's 20 miles. There are other places to get coffee, but some people need their Starbucks. Stopped in with some friends on the way back to Hilo before hitting Saddle Road. Needed a bathroom break and some caffeine. The store is nice, often busy, and has lots of parking since it's part of the larger Parker Ranch Center. I don't drink coffee often, but when I do, it's loaded with cream and sugar, so my go-to order is a mocha Frappuccino. It's been a while since I had one, so I was shocked to see that after tax, a grande costs $6! That's probably why I don't drink Starbucks very often. No issues here really. Service was fine, and the store was clean. Nothing outstanding, but no complaints either. read more

Was just here the other day and GUESS WHAT?! It has FREEEEEEEEEE WiFi! How exciting. :) It was a breath of fresh air to see their tiny little signs that said "now offering free WiFi at all locations". Although they can be a bit pricy for their coffee, I still love it here. It allows me to get in the zone when I'm doing my work and the atmosphere is wonderful. The staff at this location is great. :) They're really nice. And it seems like it's always busy here. The fireplace is GREAT! I tried this star bucks again because some friends insisted that we meet there. Against my better judgement I agreed. Things have definetly changed here... For the worse! The lady ordering in front of me was a bit irate over them not having a particular pastry but the employee and the manager didn't make the situation any better. My turn to order was preceded by the manager insisting I give her and her employee a moment to discuss something which was very awkwardly carried out in a back room with very loud voices. The elderly woman was so embarrassed that she left without actually getting her beverage. I decided not to order. The lines at this starbucks are always long, service is slow and quality is poor. Never again. There are two other locally owned coffee bars with exceptional coffee and real character. Latte art and the whole bit. Try one of these instead. read more

Yes!!! There is a Starbucks here!! If your doing that long drive between Hilo and kona and need a coffee fix like i did..no worries cause Starbucks is here to save the day.. After traveling around this entire island and only seeing two Starbucks and both in the same town it's such a relief to see one out here.. This location is decorated in the newer style Starbuck's decor that you would find in the mainland.. It's also located in what looks like a newer plaza as well.. Front staff was friendly however this large location could not keep up with the demand.. Drinks took much longer than a normal Starbucks .. This would be a issue if I was living here and was in a rush.. But then again who is ever in a rush here. Lol..Lots of seating inside and out and is located in a large shopping center that has lots of free parking.. Restrooms are available as well..
