Not so friendly place this Starbucks, maybe the influx of tourists, maybe the business, or maybe just an off day but I never find this place a treat anymore. Unfortunately, the assistant manager at this location has decided to discriminate against a quiet, elderly Native Hawaiian man, a frequent customer, by telling him he needs to buy something every two hours in order to sit there and use the internet. There's no corporate Starbucks policy like this - in fact, the stores routinely give free refills! Corporate customer relations has been notified and a complaint case filed. However, this company needs to provide cultural sensitivity training to their staff and managers ASAP. Doing business in Hawai'i is very different than in the continental U.S. and they shouldn't have to violate a kupuna's - or anybody's! - rights in order to discover this. I've spent a lot of time in this Starbucks during frequent trips to Hawai'i island, and frankly, I'm appalled. read more

The manager Michelle is unprofessional loud and obnoxious. When i walked into Starbucks i was about to order my drink and all i can hear is yelling in the back room and the manager came out pissed off and gave the whole staff a hard time with making drinks. I feel sorry for the poor baristas they have to put up with that old grumpy red head. It made me as a customer feel uncomfortable being there. The drink I ordered was wrong I asked for a hot soy mocha and they gave me a iced whole milk mocha. I will not be going back to this starbucks. read more

Always the worst customer service when I go into this Starbucks. I guess they make it a personal mission to literally have the worst workers ever st this location. I go here very often and spend a lot of money here and every time they mess up, take forever, and do it with a lack of enthusiasm. From now on, I'll be supporting small business like everyone should! "Hi! CAN I HELP YOU?" Nice location; however, once inside my wife and I didn't know which end of the counter to go to to place our order. There was no signage to help. So that we wouldn't lose our place in line, and there wasn't one at the time, I told my wife to stand at one end of the counter and I stood at the other end. Three workers behind the counter nearest the cash register looked too busy to look up and acknowledge us. Another worker behind the other end of the counter was busy prepping an order and looked down the whole time. I'm sure they knew we were there but didn't attempt to acknowledge it. If they had acknowledged our presence I'm sure the typical "hi, can I help you?" would have precluded our need to guess "where do we go?" Could it be we were profiled? read more

This is a great Starbucks ! Despite being in Hawaii on the Big Island it can be quite chilly ( In the 50s ) So this Starbucks has a fireplace. One of the negative parts of this starbucks is that it only has one unisex restroom. Otherwise it has a great set of staff member who are friendly and effecient. read more

That green sign can often be a beacon in the wilderness, and if you are traveling between Hilo and Kona (or driving through Waimea/Kamuela) on your way down to or back from the beach, this shop at the Parker Ranch Center is a sight for sore eyes! It has the usual fare in a small but comfortable store. read more

This Starbucks is a quick in and out with plenty of parking and at least 2 people working at all times. It is definitely not the best place for a real Kona coffee experience but for a quick warm up or a boost to get you to your next stop it is clean, efficient, and predictable. read more

Jason the barista is awesome, but the woman who can't understand what I ordered got me the wrong drink. I specifically told her seven pumps of pumpkin spice and tai walls not mocha walls, it was very annoying, thank goodness Jason fixed my drink in a few seconds and I went on with my day. read more

Lately Kamuela Starbucks has been opening way past the 4:00 am opening time had to leave or was gonna be late for work, girls excuse was got there late,no cash in register, and coffee is not ready , it was 4:15 and still didn't open really not good service for sbux share holders.unacceptable. read more

This Starbucks is clean, the staff is consistently kind and professional. They regularly donate free coffee to local school events and charities. The staff has come and volunteered to build school playgrounds and build local gardens. They are a huge asset to our community. The coffee is great and the environment is inviting. Whoa!! I must cry foul! I have been a Starbucks regular customer since the newlywed couple owners just out of college were working out of the broom closet across the hall from Pike Place Fish in Seattle in 1971. They were a smash hit and the business launched. The Starbucks set up in the farm country of Waimea, Hawai'i has for the past several years been where I have continued to have Starbucks coffee, though I have been residing in another part of the island for 2 years. The coffee still tasted great last week after being a Starbuck's patron for 45 years and the personality of the hustling and bustling Michelle Stevens and crew is as attentive as I would ever like. Definitely worth a tip to help with high prices and low wages these days. In the several years of consuming coffee and doing research at that Starbuck's WiFi spot into things which I share with the U.S. military and others, I have NEVER, I repeat NEVER heard the management dressing down employees or hesitating to refill a cup of fresh drip or replace anything. The place is neat, bathrooms spotless, and the Waimea Starbucks will remain a place of envy for those too intellectually and socially challenged to want to give to the public. The atmosphere is cool for those up from a hot day at the beach for a frappuccino, or iced coffee, and if I ever had a complaint about anything there, I can not remember what it was. If there ever was any welfare hippies bothering people there I never saw it. I can see how lesser mortals could become jealous at not being in charge there. That Starbucks is higher up the side of as mountain than any coffee shop on earth. To degrade the dedicated work of those folks is a cheap shot. read more
