I work in the same shopping center as this Starbucks. I work on Wednesday's and Thursdays. Every time I go on Wednesday my drink is amazing and always right. The employees are amazing. On Thursdays however there is always this one man that makes my drink and it always turns out horrible!! It seams like he has no idea what he's doing. This has happened at least 3 time to me. So if you plan on going here I recommend going on Wednesday's. read more

Wilson runs a tight, friendly, fast moving ship. He's efficient, super personable and makes you smile BEFORE your first cup of coffee. He remembers and welcomes the regulars. Quiet place, no attitude from staff, pays attention to details and Trent even places a cup holder on top of the hot beverages for you. Pleasant surprise. I really like coming to this location because there is nothing else on my way to work. I come here ALL THE TIME. I come here often. I had to post this review because of something that's happened to me twice in the last couple weeks. There is a middle age guy who keeps couging. I saw it happen to another customer a couple weeks ago, and then it happened to me this weekend. It's almost like he hates pouring drip coffee into the cups and handing it to you at the register. Maybe he'd rather the barista make it so he doesn't have to deal with it. There's just no other excuse! If you know you are getting over a cold, then be aware of the coughing. If you are just a habitual coougher, be aware of that too. The other customer had to ask for another new cup of coffee from another employee (who shot the couging guy dirty looks). For me, I actually asked the cougher for 3 new cups of coffee because he lined them up before coughing. Crazy!! read more

Agree with the other negative reviews. Horrible service. We were the only ones there with an order, but it took forever to get our drinks because the baristas were too busy chatting with each other. So much so that the barista making my Frappuccino was severely distracted. My chocolatey chip frappuccino came out tasting like water with large ice chunks... how is that even possible?? I study in here a lot and I just want to say how amazing the baristas are. During the school year I'm often there from about 5 or 6 until closing time, around 9. Regardless of whether a customer is a good friend, stranger, or crotchety old person, the baristas are always nothing but warm and cordial. I have, on the odd occasion, been so astounded by an individual's ignorance or poor social skills, that I've put down my books and just watched them leave- and yet I've never seen any of the employees lose their temper or speak curtly to a single soul. Congrats, Starbucks. P.S. I can't recall his name, but there is one barista (white, lacking in hair, young) that often conjures up one of his signature iced drinks for people unsure of what to get late at night. They are always extremely pleased with the end result, and several times he has offered me a sample (which I gladly accepted). The other night workers are also amazing. They are cognizant of my need to study, yet aren't afraid to strike up a conversation while I'm taking a break or feeling stressed. They joke freely with everyone, are known to break out into song, and make even the longest and most stressful study session much more pleasant. read more

They are typically busy on the weekend mormings which is when I visit this location -- all the more reason for the staff to make more frequent visits to the condiments bar to clean up and take trash out -- along with the emptying the trash cans outside -- I write this now, because I've been to this Starbucks enough times now to know that they just don't do a good job cleaning up when they're busy. I went there yesterday morning at 6:28am and they had no coffee. No pike, no bold, no blonde. And no apology from the team. They did have decaf, however. I couldn't believe what they were telling me, so i said "You don't have any coffee!?!". They said, well yes, they have coffee, they just need to brew it. The store manager apparently runs this store (ie little or no oversight), hence the long lines and slow service every morning. BTW the reason there was no coffee from my perspective is the associate was gabbing it up with one of the the other two or three customers in the store this morning. Took about two minutes for them to acknowledge me waiting for them to finish their conversation. This location has the store manager on the complaint card - not the district manager. Not good for starbucks and not good for customers. Unfortunately there aren't many options in oakton. I recommend the dunkin donuts in Vienna or the peet's coffee in Vienna if you just want a quick coffee. read more

The servers for this location can be slow sometimes. Forget about peak hours and weekends, you'll wait forever (And I'm not even counting the minutes waiting in line to place your order). I'm pointing this out because there is a certain 'speed to order' expectation from years of being a SB customer (Like most of you). Upon first entering this Starbucks, I am taken back at how clean and friendly the staff are! Karen is the shift manager here and she always has a friendly smile on her face. Brittany always shares stories with me and makes me feel like one of the employees. Diggy and Trent are two young men that move incredibly fast and produce an amazing product. If you can, get here early cause the lines get SUPER long, especially during the holiday season. read more

Starbucks in General has been going down hill. The more they grow, the worse they get and a lot less do they care about customers. I've gone to this Starbucks many times and they almost always have a line and are very slow to serve. As a previous employee of Starbucks for 4 years, I have the right to say when someone is slow because I've been on the other side many of rushes. Their coffee has never been my favorite, I always like the a lot of milk with a little bit of coffee. Lately though all of my espresso drink have come out bitter. I'm sad that as they've grown, the company got rid of the fun seasonal products such as mugs and pitchers and cups. The final straw was when this past weekend we called and placed a coffee traveler order with Sam for 8:20am on a Sunday. We decide to get there a little later to give them a few extra minutes, however our order was completely forgotten. No apologies, no anything. We finally got our traveler at 8:50am. Very unacceptable as we were supposed to be at our destination at 8:50am. read more

This is the worst Starbucks location I have ever been to. One barista constantly makes my drink over flow the cup, and then hands me the sticky, wet, scalding cup every time instead of double cupping it. Another barista has to be watched through the entire process to get my order right. Almost everyone (with exception of some of the new staff) never smile or are polite. "Meh I've experienced better" about sums up this particular location. I used to go to the Starbucks in the Centreville shopping center which was FANTASTIC. Now, I live closer to this one, but I have to say it is not an equal replacement. I've come in at varying hours, early, morning rush, afternoon...but the experience is always the same. Every time I come in, the wait is out the door, which is to be expected during the morning rush, but the baristas work at a GLACIAL pace. Now before you say I am just another spoiled metropolitan- I actually used to BE a barista for many years, so I know how long a line should be moving and how long an average order should take. I waited in line for over 15 minutes for a cup of coffee once, only to find the two baristas working the espresso machine were engaged in what appeared to be a side conversation and were not even looking at the drinks being placed in front of them, let alone making them. Not to mention every time I wait it out and get to the ordering counter, I am always met with a frosty greeting and a lukewarm demeanor from the cashier, like they're doing me a favor by taking my order. Makes stomaching paying for a $3 muffin that's been sitting in the counter all morning just that much harder. Would recommend trying Peets down the road if you have the option-- or De Clieu in downtown Fairfax if you have the time. read more

I love this Starbucks. It's a nice place to hang out when it's not too loud and there's outdoor seating for when I have my dog with me. The people who work here are great and very friendly. I only go in a few times a week and already they just ask, "Hot or cold?" and grab my drink. However, while most of the customers are pleasant as well (if a little too chatty for John K.'s taste), some of them seem atrocious & wreck the atmosphere for the rest of us. I witnessed one guy absolutely red-faced and screaming at an employee for not putting his drink (a free glass of ice) to the front of the line because he was in a hurry. Wow, dude, just wow. Another time, I saw a guy get upset because they told him he needed to stand in line to pay for his drink. He kept saying, "...but I'm only getting coffee..." It used to be the premier Starbucks on Chain Bridge connecting McLean to Vienna and then Fairfax, not anymore with the rest of the Starbucks on the "fast lane". Starbucks got a nutty idea of adding long tables inside their tiny coffee shops so now when you enter a Starbucks you feel you are entering a mini bus terminal, not particularly clean and not particularly enjoyable. My go-to Starbucks before I go grocery shopping. Typical, fast, and friendly. BUT: can someone PLEASE update the hours of operation? WARNING: They close at 8:30 PM on Sunday NOT 9:30 PM. I know this isn't a big deal to most people but if you are a busy mom whose only chance to go grocery shopping is Sunday night after you have put the kids down and you walk up to said Starbucks at 8:49 pm because Yelp told you they closed at 9:30 and the one thing you were looking forward to most that day was enjoying a hot beverage while doing the grocery shopping in blissful peace and you find it closed, then this is a HUGE deal. read more

I was there mid afternoon to get just a regular coffee and it wasn't particularly busy but somehow I got stuck waiting for someone to acknowledge me. The tallest barista kept mumbling take your time to no one in particular and I almost thought I had become invisible lol. Finally some other employee noticed me and asked if I had been helped. This is the worst startbucks in the area. The staffs are very poorly trained and managed. Several of them frequently mess up my drinks, and instead of taking responsibility, they interrogate you about what's wrong with the drink and the attitude is just terrible. One time this big white kid with big circle ear rings looks like he was about to beat me up cuz i told him the drink doesn't taste right. I'm usually very satisfied with starbuck's quality and customer service in general, BUT NOT THIS ONE. It's worth it to drive a couple of miles to another starbucks. I'll start out by saying that the staff was positively wonderful - very friendly, very helpful, and they obviously have a rapport with the regulars. The Smores frappucino was a fun, sweet drink, and the ham and cheese croissant was cheesy, flaky, and very delicious. The chocolate chip loaf was standard - rich and chocolatey, but nothing too special. It was busy, as it was Friday morning during rush, but the line moved quickly and we probably waited under 10 minutes for our drinks and snacks altogether. My drink, however, was not very good at all, unfortunately. I ordered the skinny cinnamon dolce latte - it was on the menu on the app, but not on the menu in the store, but the barista knew what I was talking about when I asked. Perhaps they recently took it off? Anyway, my drink had a very strong mint flavor. I'm not sure why or how - it was topped with cinnamon but was cloyingly sweet and the real cinnamon with whatever mint-flavored syrup did not work well together. I did try it before I left but didn't have time to ask them to remake it and I thought I could drink it anyway, so that is on me. I did not end up drinking even a quarter of it, unfortunately. I would definitely come here again, as the staff was great and the croissant was really tasty, but I would avoid anything with the cinnamon or mint syrup for the time being. read more

My wife and I stop here often in the middle of the day for tall bold coffees. Unfortunately, the quality of the coffee varies widely from day-to-day. Today, we were there around 2:00 pm and our coffees were weak: neither of us finished our drinks. We make Starbucks coffee every morning at home and know very well when coffee is weak/strong, fresh/stale, etc. Please pay more attention to quality in your brewed coffee! Thanks. read more

These guys do a great job considering how busy the location is and how they are understaffed most of the time. I order using the app on my iPhone because of how busy the location is but having a chaotic job myself, I forget sometimes and they almost everytime will offer to make my food and $10 drink I order if it's been sitting for more than 15 minutes - considering how demanding, entitled, and just rude snobby jerks the majority of the client are, these folks do an excellent job keeping the flow at a high pace, without choking any of the above mentioned client. Don't pay much mind to the negative reviews - reading them just reads like a list of spoiled brats who think the world is there to serve them hand and foot without them ever having to show love, respect, or humanity towards anything other than self preservation and interest.
