As I just ended my job nearby and moving onto a new one, I decided that I'd give my Keurig machine a rest as I needed to pack it up for the move and it the Starbucks on the morning for my last two weeks. As usual the coffee is always brewed so well at this location. I always get the same thing: quad shot Americano. And because I've been a regular, it's always made as soon as one of the baristas sees me which is a nice time saving touch. And as usual the staff here is so incredibly cordial and nice. A couple of shout outs to some morning regulars. Chris: you jolly ol' fellow, your cheery and cheeky teasing always makes me laugh. Thank you for allowing me drink your coffee and eat your food! Tu and Robert: my Asian barista brothers, thank you for making my drinks so consistently good with care and attention. Same goes for Allison, Nicole, and Lynelle. I really appreciate you all! Oh and the food! Some new items have really impressed me. Especially the double bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. And mercifully it's not made on the most dreaded of dreaded breads: ciabatta! Or brioche, lol. And yes it's a decently generous portion of bacon. And even though it's heat n serve, the egg is surprisingly delicious. And sorry folks, I can never wait to take pics. I will be clear, typically I am not a frequent patron of Starbucks, but I had to review this location because I was wow'd by their customer service and the flavor of my vanilla latte. Let's start with flavor. Sometimes you go to a cafe (especially franchises) and it can be either be done well, so-so, or it can taste like burnt mistakes. I was wow'd by the flavor and smooth rich flavor of my vanilla latte from here. It was the cherry on top of caffeinated progress I needed to get done for the day and cannot thank the baristas enough. (Y'all are real ones, thanks for the fix tbh)!! But most of all I was wow'd by the customer service here. Honestly, this location has so many regulars and the baristas are unbelievably great interacting with them and remembering names and orders it warmed my caffeinated heart. I almost wanted to be a regular! They also were really awesome to talk to and chat with. I also loved their reactions when my colleague ordered his six espresso shot venti latte hahaha. They were all so lovely. Can't handle! I was not able to get both of their names, but I heard the customer after me say one of the cashier/barista's name who I believe was Christopher?! Not sure. Where do I begin? Most of us hate getting up early in the morning but this Starbucks location seems to be off the chart with morning attitude. Let's start that I get a Starbucks coffee EVERY DAY. I've literally purchased a drink in every country imaginal. This experience tops the charts of mistakes and they speak English. I order the same coffee every time so I speak slowly not to confuse anyone. I ordered banana bread in the package and 4 shots of espresso on ice one pump WHITE MOCHA. I was asked if I wanted my banana bread heated. Odd because left in its plastic wrapper heating it would not have a pleasant outcome. I said no thank you. I remained in a calm and nice demeanor the entire time. The cashier proceeded to take my banana bread out of the package. I said "I'm sorry I wanted that in the package. The cashier looked confused. The other girl had to approach her explaining that I wanted it in the package. . I again said "Thank you". No one was in the store but me. The barista continued making Togo orders. I'm a server - bartender and I'd assist the person in front of me. I waited as she made my drink. We are not able to see our order as it is passed along. Usually my order is read back to me insuring my drink will be made properly. Two reasons, one it will come out right and two this decreases waste of product. I was not aware of my pending order. My coffee was being prepared then handed to me. It looked a bit dark but I wanted to get on the road. I absolutely dislike chocolate mocha in my coffee. I took a sip by my car and immediately realized my white mocha was chocolate mocha. My stomach turned and once again I went back inside with coffee in hand. The barista had not made a mistake the cashier had ordered mocha per my cup description. My coffee was prepared again. Not feeling so good and chocolate mocha taste still in my mouth my quick Starbucks drive bye had become a nightmare. I hope the cashier was new or maybe tired. She needs a bit more training for sure!! I'm surprised by this experience because this location has a 4 1/2 star rating. read more

Not my favorite Starbucks. There isn't one big thing wrong with it, just a lot of little things. The place isn't shaped well, which means there is limited seating and people can get into each others way. They should probably stop hiring incompetent cashiers who take BOTH drink orders down incorrectly, so the barista makes them incorrectly... One of the drinks was a hot latte, but was made as an iced coffee, so we didn't know it was done being made because we were keeping an eye out for a grande hot coffee cup (not the clear iced coffee cup). After waiting for 20 minutes, we asked where the drink was, and the barista said she was behind, meanwhile the incorrect drink had been sitting there the whole time. I've ventured into this Starbuck's many times on my way to Costco (I think I almost turn the car into the parking lot on auto pilot now) before I can even face Costco shopping. Anyhoo I usually go after working out, so with that in mind I'm not very shall we say "cute looking". Especially now that I'm leaning towards.....gasp....middle age. So I've gone in here a few times in the past and a "certain" barista working at the cash register has been less than cordial. Not rude, but for being a beautiful young lady can't seem to smile...okay whatever I know it's just a coffee. But hey I'm paying for a coffee I've actually seen her be nice to other folks behind me, it just kind of put me off in the past. This is not to say others here have been courteous, because there are some really nice workers here. Just the couple of times I'm come into contact with this particular girl she's made me feel very insignificant and very bored with her job. Okay with that being said, I went in today and a lovely older gentleman was working with a delightful British accent. We had a cheeky exchange of words as I mentioned my Mum being from England too. He was present and friendly and took a few moments to engage all while writing my intricate coffee directions down on the cup and then repeating them back for my okay. And I can't tell you how those few moments of friendliness really made my day. It really didn't take much on his part, and if made the act of buying my coffee all that much better (and worth spending the $3.00). I don't order here often, but every time I order a Pike Place, the coffee is burnt. I don't know if not many people order Pike Place, so I'm always getting the bottom of the pot. Oddly this does not happen when I order in the store. Perhaps burnt coffee is reserved for mobile orders. Also, the staff is not the friendliest. But since this snazzy location is right across from where I work, I end up frequenting this location more than others and couldn't be more happy with the staff, service and atmosphere. They recently remodeled this location and I like how they moved the sugar/milk and accouterments area off to the side so it's not smack dab where everyone waits for their order (how it was situated previously.) This location provides a great mid-day respite for me, when I'm having a long day and is also convenient to stop at before work in the morning. I had had no problems with the drinks or usual workers at this location until today. When I gave my order, the person taking it could barely hear me over another barista berating his coworker in the background. Not only was this barista being unprofessional by arguing with another barista while there were customers, but he was also in the middle of training a new barista. I would recommend that this barista be spoken to about respect and professionalism, especially because there seemed to be some misogyny at play as well. Easily the dirtiest Starbucks I have ever been in, including ones at truckstops or in major urban centers. The counters in front of the cash registers were extremely dusty as were the tops of the espresso machine and grinders.The floors and tables were a mess and looked like whoever sweeps at night hadn't tried to thorough job for quite some time. Things don't get like this in a day. I decided to just get a Teavana rather than have them prep anything because I was so grossed out. I'm a fairly carefree person who deprioritizes cleaning. For me to even notice says something. I told the cashier this was the dirtiest store I'd ever been in. He didn't even really apologize or say something like "so sorry, we were just slammed by 3 soccer teams and a dust storm" or anything like that. They weren't busy. There were 2 customers in the store, despite seating for 22-25 inside and another 12 or so empty seats outside. Dropped by after an errand...I know the two stores closer to my house are both packed today with full seats indoor and out and people standing. This one is empty. I can see why. read more

First off, let me say, I truly love Starbucks. That being said, this review is for one specific visit to this Starbucks, which I have been to many times. Yesterday, I went in to order a quick coffee and a pastry. I ordered a tall Pikes Place in a Grande cup as I need extra room for cream. Before I could complete my order by saying that I also wanted a syrup shot, the cashier turned and started to pour my coffee. I said, in a voice loud enough so he could hear me, "I would like a shot in that too, please." He ignored me and then handed me my coffee. When I said I wasn't done ordering and that I wanted syrup, he grabbed another cup (ummm... WHY?) put syrup in that, then poured my coffee into that cup. Okay, whatever... I also ordered the lemon loaf cake (Sooooo very excited they brought it back for awhile!) and the same idiot put it in the bag frosting side DOWN! Seriously? WTF? Today I had a very embarrassing moment at this location. I placed an online order of my tea, picked it up and left the store to my work which is located right next door. 20minutes later I went back to this Starbucks location for a refill. The cashier asked me if I had left the store, I was confused at first and ask what did he mean, he asked the same question again and I said yes, then he indicated that I couldn't get a refill because I had left the store. I expressed that I didn't understand what he meant. He proceeded to explain to me that the policy is that if you leave the store you cannot get a refill. My entire face dropped, he was loud enough for other customers around to hear him and people staring at me was enough for me to feel supper embarrassed. I've been a Starbucks customer for many years and since they started their Gold status/free refills program, I've been refilling my coffee/tea with no problem. He explained that the policy has always been that, but this specific location never implemented it. For this same reason, I feel he should have advised me they were enforcing the rule but for a last time granted my refill. I understand he is just doing his job but I also work in the customer service industry and I would have been a little more discrete notifying my customer about my job policy and honestly I would have not denied my customer a refill of her tea. Some of you may be thinking: "well you should have read the policy before" and yes you are correct but after so many undeniable refills and being a Gold pass holder for so long I never even thought there was such restriction. read more

3 People behind the counter doing nothing but looking at their cellphone and texting. There are little gnats flying around all over the place. I do not know when the last time the floor has been swept OR Mopped, disgustingly filthy! The lights are covered in dust. The seating against the side wall has at least 2" of dust on the upholstered back part against the wall. A huge cobweb that has been lingering in the corner next to the window for months. It's obvious the manager Eric doesn't care, it's been filthy for months. Doesn't the District Manager visit the store anymore?? I mentioned something to Amy, the shift supervisor the other day about how dirty everything was and she didn't even say thank you for letting her know, she would look into it, absolutely nothing, her reply was, "oh." I don't know how anyone would even want to sit around at the store in that disgusting filth! I will be going to another Starbucks nearby or maybe Peet's. They at least take pride in the cleanliness of their stores. You would think that for what Starbucks charges for their beverages that they could afford to bring someone in to clean the store once in If I could give this Starbucks a ZERO I would but that is not a option. Now that all the tables and chairs are pushed to the side and there is no seating allowed you would think it would be the perfect time to do a little housekeeping. The floor in this store is so disgusting it has a film of dirt on it. Cleaning product and a wet mop would do wonders on this floor. I am shocked the health department hasn't shut them down for how filthy the floor is. I am also shocked that a district manager hasn't walked inside and seen the filth. Maybe if some of the Barista 's standing around visiting and texting on their phones would lift a broom or mop, they could really spiff up the place. read more

Forgive me father for I have sinned. I went to Starbucks even though I know better. This review is really for all Starbucks in general. This is just where the latest fail occured. I generally make my own coffee daily, and try to patronize a Starbucks a few times a years in order to treat myself to something tastey if Im in a rush or having a stressful day at work. My main problem is that the quality and consistency of drinks slips every year, while the price rises more and more. The staff are nice enough, but Baristas used to personal, expert coffee drink makers. Todays endeavor was a 25+ minute wait, with only 5 customers in front of me. "The machine malfunctioned and lost everyones orders" says the employee after I finally ask where my drink is. She makes it hurriedly and forgets the extra shot I ordered and already paid for. In short, my $5.50 caramel macchiato was mostly milk and literaly half a shot of espresso. It was essentially a cold glass of milk. I feel used, underwhelmed and ripped off everytime I walk out of a starbucks. But the lemmings are lined up like cows ready for slaughter. I know people that patronize a Starbucks every single day, sometime twice a day. I dont understand how so many people are so dedicated to such a bad product. read more

Wireless that works! While I prefer Peets over Starbucks, I do have a TMobile wireless account and this location occasionally ends up being a stopping point during my commute days. Long lines are quickly beat down with an efficient, friendly and intelligent staff. Minus one star for not having a bathroom for customers and the lack of seating. read more

I've waited a long time to post because I visited many times before and several times AFTER my bad experience. I gave my order, and I sat down because a table was available. I set up my computer, books, etc. and never heard my name called. The manager and his staff were laughing and chatting it up in front of the area where finished drinks are, so I could not see my drink. After a few minutes, I decided to walk up and ask if the drink (I had never been able to see with the manager standing there) sitting there was mine. I did not see my name on the cup, so I figured they were too busy. No big deal. However, instead of a polite "yes" and clearing the way for me to get my drink, the manager (big guy) stayed standing in front of the area where I had to nearly touch his belly to reach for my drink. Worse, he quipped with an impolite tone that my name was called after I gave him a look for not respectfully moving away from the drink area. Super disappointed with his attitude because he wasn't a young teen. I didn't know of the Starbucks near Zachary Pizza, so I continued to visit this Starbucks and again and again, the workers are all business and really expect you to be the same. While I did not have another uncomfortable experience with the manager, it is clear to me that management is the reason the staff are less friendly. Working in SF, I can still get smiles and great customer service with Starbucks establishments, and if a drink sits there, names are called repeatedly despite the hustle and bustle. I have lived in San Ramon for over 15 years and will visit the other two Starbucks stores before this one any day! A personal example: the Nob Hill/Market Place Starbucks had young people come in and serenade a Starbucks worker one time I was there, and it was so nice to see the way those Starbucks' workers interact with customers.
