This chill and charming coffee spot is waiting for you (in a vintage brick building called "the bunker." The effortlessly cool barista greeted me with this laid back warmth and mellow morning energy. She gave me good ideas on both drinks and food, since this was my first visit-and supported my choices. I love that! Life kicks us around outside these doors. But inside Ybor City Coffee and Tea, it's easygoing and zen. I could have settled in with my matcha with lavender for a good long stay... but it's an errands day. I will say this clearly: I am largely done with Starbucks. I am not paying premium prices for something that tastes engineered for global sameness. Buddy Brew can absolutely take center stage as far as I am concerned. The coffee tastes better. The matcha drinks taste better. And for the price, I feel like I am getting quality rather than branding. What I like most is that it feels elevated without being obnoxious about it. Yes, it has posh undertones in Hyde Park.
