Today we got the following: HH Mussels and Clams - Good, but HH price and HH quantity. Not enough, even for light eaters. Approximately 6 small mussels and clams of each. HH Steakhouse Burger - 12 oz patty, smaller after cooked, lol. Decent fries and flavor. My wife was surprised and happy that they "split plates" for us (see below service), until she found out about the undisclosed additional cost. No one asked for a split plate and we did not need that... $3 extra. Of course, a local IPA to wash everything down. Atmosphere - Nice rooftop atmosphere. Plenty of fire pits, fire places, heat lamps, etc. Fairly busy happy hour crowd. Plenty of 2-3 hours street parking. Open 7 days a week from 4pm to 10pm or 11pm; Yelp's hours differ slightly. Service - Hit and miss until the very end where they failed. Does not seem like they have designated people for each table?!?! We had like 4-5 different people help us? Well, we had to ask 4-5 different people for service. Another business that charged us a different price than the stated menu price. First the (new) waitress that gave us the bill said that the owner changed the Steakhouse burger from $20 to $23 and that she will NOT honor the menu price. Then she came back and said the extra $3 was due to a split plate (that no one asked for). She also charged us an extra $4 for 4 small slices of bread, which was not disclosed either. Price - $51; another experience ruined with pricing discrepancies. Happening more and more often... Great place to grab a drink! Came straight here after having dinner down the street. Saw they had a rooftop bar and just had to check it out! It was pretty cold when we went, but they had their fire pits going. I loved the vibes up there! Plenty of seating available on a Sunday. They played old school tunes, and it was very chill! We grabbed seats at an outdoor table with couches, and our server came right away to grab our order. My girls and I each got the Lava Candy cocktail. We loved how chamoy forward it was, and how it left a little spice in the back of your throat after each sip. So yummy! I saw that they also have their restaurant downstairs. We didn't eat there, but it's nice to know that you can grab dinner and then head to the rooftop for more drinks if you so please! We did come back the next night for some drinks, had the same server, and had excellent drinks and service! So we came here after a long day of exploring Carmel, it was a very cozy place to hangout and relax. I love the atmosphere of the rooftop restaurant and we came in just in time for happy hour!!! We ordered truffle fries and white and a lemon drop from happy hour menu. We had such a good time enjoying the fantastic view while relaxing eating our fries as well as enjoying our drinks. Love the ambiance of the roof top bar. Although it was quite sunny when we went, the sun eventually went down and it was nicely shaded and chill. Great vibes. Can't beat the happy hour prices!! Got my lemon drop for $9.50. Wished I had ordered 2 before the cutoff time (6pm). Drinks were well made and good amount of alcohol. Thank you Edi for being a great server. Fast and attentive. I didn't try the garlic bread but it looked good. Too bad some of my friends said it was basic. Saffron risotto arancini was cheesy and I enjoyed it! The star of the show was definitely the pizza, San Vito and Fangool. WOW that fangool pizza had pepperoni and spicy honey which paired well together! Love the thin crust and super cheesy! Took a quick trip for a couple days down to Carmel. We stayed very close to this location and saw that they had a happy hour. The happy hour specials were fantastic both the drinks and the happy hour food menu. We are up on the rooftop, which was a very nice spot to be at. We came here for the first time last weekend and we had a great time! We ordered the truffle pizza, calamari, Gilroy garlic, and the clams and mussels. Everything was delicious and we also thought that the service was solid. The ambience on the rooftop is amazing and they have a lot of little bonfires and heat lamps to keep you warm. Grabbed a drink here before dinner - it was great! The roof was a little chilly when the sun went down, but they have plenty of heaters and some fireplaces. They have plenty of cocktails and wine/beer. Some of the cocktails are a little unique but we really enjoyed ours (tried the Pepecello Spritz, Green Grotto, and Negroni). The Green Grotto was a little girly for my boyfriend, but he liked it. Service was very friendly and quick! read more

When I was planning our Carmel trip, I saw Star Bar on Yelp and definitely wanted to check it out. Sitting under the starry skies enjoying some drinks during a sunset seemed perfect for our getaway. The bar is located on the second floor, which isn't too high up, but it's still an awesome ambiance. There are plenty of couches along the two sides of the bar, with some tables at the ends. Seating is first come first serve. We had a couple of drinks, the fried artichoke, and burrata appetizer. The drinks were tasty and pretty strong. The appetizers were pretty good too. For some reason, in hindsight, I'm not sure why they didn't give us the happy hour menu, though. read more

Stumbled upon this cute little rooftop bar after a nice 5 hour drive to Carmel. Unfortunately we were a bit on the tired side so not many pictures were taken. Let's start with the over all first impression. Loved walking up to the rooftop. The bf is a huge sports fan so it was awesome to see all the signatures on the wall as you walk up the stairs. The ambiance was cozy and total chill vibes! The music was a mixture of old school music with new school. People seemed to all be enjoying the atmosphere and each other. We had the Bruschettas... not impressed. They were just basic finger food bruschettas. The pizza on the other hand was delicious. We had the Spicy Pie 2.0 and we were NOT disappointed. Each slice has a slice of pineapple on it with jalapeños and salami slices. I know I know how dare you mix pineapple with pizza... the boyfriend convinced me and I have not shy'd away from it since!! There's a tiny bar that seats about 5 people, as well as various high top or low tables and fire pits to sit at. We love this place as a concept, but have had super mixed experiences. The food is always great. Truly good food. Happy hour drinks are not worth the discount- order what you like, and pay 2x the price. It's just better. The bathrooms are not clean- it's appalling. (Just dirty and trash everywhere- paper towels cover the floors- how, why?) When I was a server with no hourly wage (well- $2.18/ hr) and earned just tips, I cleaned the bathroom every 30 minutes- that's the job. How is their bathroom always covered in trash? Weirdly enough, the fireplace glass panel actually exploded on us while we were there tonight and onto our area/table. We were fine, but were made many promises by servers and managers about a comped tab or next round or whatever makes sense to avoid liability I'm sure. There were no discounts on our final bill- I paid full price to not cause an uncomfortable situation for our birthday dinner. We watched them clean up glass from all around us for the better part of an hour (with a paper bag instead of a broom and vacuum?) again- with the promise of a, at least partially, comped tab. We paid full price and got out of there before further damage was done. I like the potential of this place, but their management, cleanliness and follow through could use a lot of work. Not sure if we will be back anytime soon. read more

This was such a fun little spot we came across with a beautiful outdoor view! Food and drinks were delicious. We had the Caesar salad and the Pappardelle pasta and it was delicious. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce was rich and flavorful. The Caesar salad was decent but I've had better. The pizza was delicious as it was chewy and crispy!! The drinks were great and are packed with a punch (if that's what you're going for). Ok..great little spot for date night, happy hour meet up with friends or just enjoying eating outside but don't want to look at a parking lot. Fun hip family friendly environment. Delicious food and space heaters to keep you warm (still bring a jacket for the winter nights). We liked it so much we came two times during our stay in Carmel. Our favorite dish was the mussels, but everything was well seasoned and reasonable pricing. We ordered Amalfi salad, clams, sausage pizza and the mussels. We visited off peak tourist season, however the place was busy even during the weeknight (Tuesday & Wednesday). So if you want to visit I suggest arriving at beginning of happy hour. No parking lot, but on street parking wasn't difficult as the restaurant sits off the Main Street. I look forward to visiting this place again when we come back to carmel. read more

Went for Daily Happy Hour Food - 2/5. The diavola's toppings with the spicy & salty flavors of the meat paired well with the cheese. Sadly the dough was disappointing and this was a trend that followed the other dishes as well. Bread did not have a good crust to them so the initial bite didn't have any of the satisfying crunch followed by a bit of sogginess. This made the chewing of the bread an unsatisfying chore. Bruschetta and garlic bread had the same issues where the toppings and flavors were fine but the bread, which makes up the bulk of the textures, were not good. Service - 4/5. Friendly and quick. Value -2/5. We ordered only bread items since they had the "Pepe" title to them but none of them were good. When it's cold outside, they turn on their heaters and have this fireplace on one corner. The place is very relaxing and their staff is friendly and very attentive. We ordered from their happy hour menu: For drinks: House red wine - which is amazing! Baby back ribs - tender, sweet and delicious lamb and polenta tamale - very flavorful fried artichoke lollipops - crunchy and tasty, you can taste the artichokes in them. We got to the rooftop bar close to 9 pm on Friday. It wasn't too busy so there were plenty of open seats (both couches and bar stools around tables). The ambience was nice, there were plenty of heaters keeping everyone warm, they were playing music from the 2000s to quite current, some took me back in time of when I was much younger. Our server was also polite, and attentive. We just got a few drinks and hung out for a bit and left. Overall nice experience, we'll definitely visit again when we're back in Carmel. I stopped in here on a Wednesday evening for a quick drink. Very nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. Other patrons were mellow which I liked. Chill vibes! I've been to other nice rooftop bars before so I was prepared for drinks to be a tad pricey. With that being said, I still think drinks are a bit overpriced for the experience.
