I came here and ordered a cup of chili and a ham sub. The young guy behind counter had a bit of an attitude from the moment I walked inside. I was too hungry to match his negative energy. I got my food and left. My conscious told me to check my food. I went to my car to check my food and was disgusted. The ham was dark and look like it had been out all day. My sub look like it was just thrown together. I went back inside and showed the rude guy my sub. He instantly got offended and said that's how the ham looks. And refunded me back my money woth an attitude. I called the next day and requested to speak to a Manager. Someone called me a week later and I explained the situation. I was told someone would call me back. I'm still waiting on that call from a month ago. Terrible service and the food isn't worth coming back. I'm one lost customer and wont be returning. A staple for me! Their salads are robust and very reasonably priced. I also love the variety of frozen homemade soups that you can take from here and just pop in the freezer for when you need them., or give to a loved one who is recovering from a health issue. The sandwiches were good, but I remember them being served on French bread before, which I really miss. We sat outside and that part was enjoyable but loud being by the street. They brought our sandwiches out to us, but we had to go in to get refills, napkins and boxes. read more

The restaurant ambiance is very low key but I was there to pick up our catering order. I was amazed, however, by the variety of soups in the carry-out cooler. I'm told they're well-known for those. Our trays of food were good but I want to specifically rave about the fresh fruit which included 3 types of perfectly ripe and sweet melon. Melons are very difficult to choose at the peak of flavor but they did great. I didn't try it but I was told the soup was delicious, too. If I lived there, I would definitely order from them again. read more

My brothers both told me the soup here was life-changing...they were not F'ing kidding! Esp if you are a fan of Italian beef with giardineira! Granted I was really only there for a Christmas Eve frozen soup pick up, but I gave the place a good once-over, checked out the daily sammich/specials board, used the restroom, and most importantly...was offered a sample cup of the soup currently on final summer, 'Chicken Taco'. Perhaps because I mentioned I'd heard good things and was making my 1st visit, but the super nice guy at the counter even crumbled up some tortilla chips on top. It made this old guy blare out "OMG!!" like a giddy school girl. Long story short, the soups I actually came in for, the afore-referenced "Resurrection Beef" , it's sister 'Res Chicken', and the place itself ARE borderline life-changing. I base this on the plethora of unique home made, high-quality ingredient soups that are somehow flash frozen at the perfect temp to take home and thaw/heat later. They also offered what looked like some tasty Italian-leaning salads and sandwiches - both hot and cold and including a breakfast variety, but I can only vouch for the soups. Speaking of which, the lady and I are so impressed that we are tempted to eat the others in my $30 'six-pack' (including Oxtail and the taco soup I sampled) for our next few meals. I am also re-evaluating my schedule the next couple days to potentially make another 2-hr trip north to branch out and restock. They have so many delicious, homemade soups including vegetarian and vegan choices in a freezer (about 30 to choose from). Sandwiches and soup are THE THING to get. I had 1 mishap with my gluten free sandwich but after speaking with the owner, he made it right and the staff was much better informed when I went in next time. I order my sandwiches with gluten free bread and ask for an allergy glove change & for them not to toast it. Staff is informed about allergies and takes precautions. This is my go to sandwich shop! I hadn't eaten at Starship for a couple of years. I used to get soups from them and I remember them as being delicious. This past week I had a root canal so I picked up a couple of vegetarian soups--fresh minestrone and a frozen veggie chili. The minestrone was edible, but was a thick sludge of tomato paste with garbanzos and corn (no pasta). It was weird, but not terrible. The veggie chili looked a lot like the minestrone and tasted like there was at least a tablespoon of sugar or corn syrup in it and I couldn't eat it. My wife's work has had sandwiches catered from this restaurant a number of times, most recently last week (3/2024), and she always raves about them. The two of us had the hungries bad today and I had been craving a good italian sub so we decided to order for us and the kids. The good: Delivery was fast. The not-so-good? Crack a beer. Now as far as italian subs go, I am a believer that you have to have oil and vinegar and apparently Starship does as well. A lot. So much so that the wrapping around my sandwich was wet. When I opened it up, it only got worse. The bun (which looked like it was probably really good in its drier life) was soaked to the point of almost falling apart. Everything was just swimming in oil (sadly most of it drowned before I had a chance to save it). I ate 1/2 of it and found that it had little flavor, the meats were beyond bland, and everything was just an oily mess. My wife got the roast beast and a half hour after she took it to her office to eat, I got a text. "Meh. Not sure this is the same place." She then tried the deconstructionist approach of removing toppings, dividing bread, feeding the cheese to the dog, but nothing worked. Approximately every half hour for the next three hours, I received a text message, "I'm pissed" followed by "I'm so pissed" followed by "I am beyond pissed and I think the dog is starting to get pissed too." Needless to say, she wasn't the least bit happy. We bought two ham and cheese sandwiches for the kids. Ran into one of them in the kitchen who was heating his up. He said "well, mom is pretty pissed but I figure it's pretty tough to screw up a ham and cheese." He left the kitchen only to come back in a few minutes later, wide eyed, with plate in hand. "HOLY CRAP! What the?!" He opened it up and inside was what I can only describe as a "slurry" of lettuce, pickles, mayonnaise, and mustard, applied with the same heavy hand that dealt the death blow of oil to my Italian. He bulldosed it off with and knife and later gave it 3 out of 5. "Not a lot of flavor," he reported. As I write this, the fourth and final sandwich continues to warm a place on the counter. Apparently my 2nd kid is too afraid to try it. And I just got another text message from my wife: "Did I mention how pissed I am about that sandwich??" read more

Overall I love the restaurant! Everyone is super friendly and quick especially when you're in a hurry to get lunch on your lunch break. The sandwiches are very delicious and they are pretty good size however for me personally I did not like the frozen soup. I really wanted to try this place out after a friend told me about all of the soups they offered and of course when I walked in I was expecting for the soups to be fresh but 80% of the soups are frozen and stored in a freezer that you can get them out of and take them to the counter. They have a lot of options to choose from but I found that when I actually defrosted and reheated them I didn't like the taste too much. I highly recommend trying their fresh soup of the day which was very tasty and went well with my sandwich and chips. Now these are just my taste buds and you may have a different overall opinion of the frozen soup but to me it tasted like soup that had been frozen, defrosted and warmed up. I have gone back to get another sandwich and will probably continue to be a repeat customer but I will stick to the fresh soups only. read more

Had the pleasure of trying Starship for the first time tonight. We ordered the Ski Bomber, Crazy Club, Pizza Bread, and the Cappuccino Shake. Our meals were delicious! My favorite thing we ordered, had to be the Cappuccino Shake. It was the perfect balance of coffee and sweet. We also really enjoyed our sandwiches. The preferred of the two was the Ski Bomber, a Polish Sausage hotdog with all the toppings! The only thing we weren't impressed with was the Pizza Bread, but it was just a $2 side. It was just ok. How do you mess up a turkey sub sandwich? Take a fistfull of thin sliced meat and ball it up and stuff it in a dry crumbly sesame seed bun. Stuff some dry burnt thick bacon in the middle and so little mayo you can't even taste it. Make sure the sandwich is sloppy and falling apart, but tightly wrapped to fool the customer into thinking its good bcuz the wrapping is the only neat part of the sub. Starship has redeemed itself! We all deserve second chances and often times, the second encounter is much better than our first. This holds true for my second delivery from Starship. I am most appreciative that it was delivered in 30-45 minutes during lunch hours. As mentioned in my original review, the food is delicious and portions sizes are generous. My favorite items of the things I have ordered are the broccoli bacon bash salad and ski bomber, which are not the healthiest, but a great treat. My review is 4 stars and not 5 because there are a few delivery ordering kinks that should be addressed. The online total never matches the actual total. Each time, the online total with tax and delivery charges is lower than what is listed on the receipt attached to the order. Another observation is the delivery staff do not have change or any cash for that matter. The remedy two both is to probably pay online or with small bills. read more

Well, we the nerds were certainly blissful this evening because the food was delicious! We were surprised that the portions of the meal combo were generous. My "killer cod combo" on the special menu came with the choice of soup or salad. I had the New England clam chowder. Oh, did I mention that I came with bread and crackers as well? The clam chowder had great flavor and didn't skimp on meat and clams. I sampled hubby's tomato rice soup, and it was comforting, savory, and hearty. Although winter is coming to the end, and the prelude of spring season is right around the corner, Rosa J. is always up for a cup of well-crafted soup at any time of the day. Everything appeared to be made-to-order. It really made hubby's day when he had the egg salad with the rye bread (rye and pumpernickel breads are his favorite). Furthermore, I'm impressed that they have home-made chips, and those were well-done and flavored appropriately. Nothing makes Rosa J. happy when she has her seafood fix. The cod sandwich was satisfying and had the right ratio of tarter sauce and toppings to hold the sandwich together without having pickles epically falling off the buns. By the way, did I sound nerdy enough for this review? Even though it's a "short-order" type of establishment, the young lady rendered very friendly service and volunteered to provide two (2) cups of water without us requesting for them.
