The food here was sooo good! The monkey bread was delicious & we devoured it in seconds, definitely recommend. The crispy potatoes and fries were also delicious. The coffee only comes black (you can get sugar & cream), no flavors available, but staff makes you aware of that before you order! They are very allergy friendly as well. For a post-work dinner, I made a reservation for a party of 3 on Wednesday at 7pm. It proved useful as the establishment looked almost full when I arrived. Nonetheless, I received my table immediately. State Street's tap beer selection had decent regional representation - Zero Gravity, Jacks Abbey, Lawsons, Maine Beer, Night Shift, and Dorchester Brewing. For this dinner, I sampled the brussel sprouts (appetizer, $13), the scallop tagliatelle ($38), and sides of broccolini and house-cut fries ($6 ea). The brussel sprouts arrived in the textbook modern fashion - crisped up leaves and well seasoned. The establishment chose to garnish theirs with soy caramel, miso yogurt, and cilantro. The broccolini side also received a decent coating of oil and seasoning - the exact treatment that a high end steakhouse would give. The house cut fries proved liberally salted and not overly oily. My main, the scallop tagliatelle, had scallops seared to perfection and with a hint of smokiness. The pasta itself carried seafood savoriness, accentuated by a cream sauce that coated well but didn't feel too heavy on the palate. The atmosphere seemed nice and upscale but not unapproachable. My outdoor table faced State Street. Since it was the final part of the street before reaching the waterfront, it saw little traffic so I was not annoyed by cars passing a few feet away. Overall, I quite enjoyed my dinner. I'll be sure to keep State Street in mind the next time I'm looking for a modern New England seafood restaurant. read more

We came here for the $1 Oyster happy hour special. Ordered 50 of them as one of my boys and I love them. They are rather small but what can we say for $1. Also ordered cheeseburger and pizza. There didn't look fantastic but did the job of braking up the flavor profile so we could enjoy yet more oysters. :) Location is great. The sangria was okay and the crab rangoon dip was exactly what I expected, but the squid ink tagliatelle surprisingly impressed me. The pasta itself had a nice flavor, making me wonder if they source it from somewhere or just prepare it well enough to mask its box origins. I hadn't even been that hungry, but it was genuinely so good that I cleaned the plate. Wowowow. The restaurant is on the corner near the Marriott Long Wharf and the New England Aquarium. It's the perfect place to end your evening. It's dark and inviting. The service was great. Our server, Juan, was friendly and had some great suggestions. The starters were the real gem here. Our entrees were ok and there were not many to chose from. Nothing wowed me. But oh lord the well fleet oysters, lobster bisque, and the arancini. They were delicious. My husband like his burger. The kids tenders were devoured by my kiddo. I had the short rib bolognese. I am not sure what's happening with State Street Provision. I ordered a salad with shaved Parmesan. The shaved Parmesan came in the form of little, quarter of an inch thin threads of cheese that were scarce throughout the salad. Some cheese chips are added to the salad however, this is not the shaved Parmesan Reggiano that is so generously used in the North End of Boston. In addition, I'm told they won't bring the biscuits back until the fall. In the meantime, there are people that like the cornbread that's in place of the biscuits. Not sure why they cannot have both options available to make all customers happy. Also I noticed the burgers are smaller, and the buns are not toasted I love the angry queen Pizza, however they did shrink the size of this pizza. I was told the Pizza is thicker instead of being spread out more. I'm not sure here. ??? Please bring back the quality that State Street Provision used to have at one time read more

We stopped here after a trip to the New England Aquarium. I wanted to have a lobster roll! The food here was on the pricier side but the portions were good and everything was high quality. The waiter was very kind and comped the drinks (and looked very handsome LOL). He also refilled the coffee continuously! Had dinner here with a few colleagues and everything was amazing. From the food to the service, I have no complaints! Their Korean BBQ wings were some of the best I've ever had. They had an amazing crust that was both crispy and sticky, yet the meat inside stayed extremely juicy. The wings themselves were also extremely meaty. Provisions delivered a memorable dining experience with thoughtful wine pairings and warm, attentive service from start to finish. I selected their "Dine Out Boston" prix fire menu. The course began with the charred octopus appetizer, which was easily one of the highlights of the night. The octopus had a beautifully crispy, charred exterior while remaining soft and juicy inside. It was coated in an aromatic, slightly sweet glaze that reminded me of balsamic, adding depth without overpowering the dish. The daikon brought a subtle sweetness with hints of soy and sugar that balanced everything nicely. The greens were slightly dry and a bit overcooked, but still a pleasant addition overall. Generous portion and very well executed. I also got to try the smoked fish croquettes which were another standout. Shaped almost like crispy potato balls, they had the perfect crunch on the outside and a creamy, soft filling inside. The fish flavor was light and delicate, not overly "fishy", making them incredibly enjoyable and well-balanced. For wine, I had an Austrian Grüner selection that was sweet and crisp, yet smooth. It paired beautifully with the octopus, enhancing the glaze and balancing the char. I had to get another glass of this after my entire meal. The prosciutto-wrapped cod was visually stunning - vibrant, colorful, and thoughtfully plated with fingerling potatoes, slices of chorizo, and a bright orange confit beneath the fish. While the presentation and portion size were great, this entrée fell a bit short in flavor. The cod itself was tender and juicy, but it needed some seasoning. The prosciutto created a slightly dry crust, and a steak knife was necessary to cut through it comfortably. The confit and vegetables leaned a little too tangy and overpowered the dish. I found the fingerlings ame chorizo to be slightly over-salted, and while the chorizo had good flavor, I felt that there were too many overpowering flavors coming through. Overall, this wasn't my favorite dish of the night, though the wine paired with it was excellent. Dessert completely redeemed the experience. The mascarpone berry cake was sweet, spongy, and moist with a warm center. It was topped with a citrusy vanilla whipped cream and fresh strawberries, which added brightness and balance. Absolutely delicious. The Moscato-like dessert wine - lightly bubbly, fruity, soft, and sweet - paired perfectly and elevated the cake even more. Overall, Provisions shines in its appetizers, wine pairings, and exceptional service (thank you, Katie!). While the cod entrée didn't quite meet my expectations, the experience as a whole was enjoyable and thoughtfully curated. We stopped after a Ghost & Gravestones tour. It was a bit after 7:30, we were hungry, needed to go to the bathroom and this place in eyesight. I ordered the lobster bisque, it was amazing. Might have been one of my favorite things I ate this trip. The clam chowder was also good. The pizza was delicious, extremely thin crust. The balsamic and ricotta cheese combo, so good. The sausage was flavorful and the broccoli rabe got me a much needed veggie. My boyfriend got the burger and he said it was good, fries were ok. The service was great, fast and attentive. This is a nice place but you can be dressed casually. We saw many folks dressed up, coming from graduations to some teens in pajamas. Glad we found this restaurant!! We worked up an appetite while walking around all morning.. stopped here for lunch. Had an excellent experience at Provisions on State Street, largely thanks to the outstanding service from our bartender, Bailey. From the moment I sat down, Bailey was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making the experience great--not rushed or dismissive, which sadly isn't always the case at popular spots. The food quality was excellent, the pricing felt appropriate for what you get, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. What really stood out was how well everything came together: great service, great food, and fair prices. Honestly, I enjoyed Provisions far more than other hyped Boston restaurants like Contesa and Saltie Girl. Provisions beat them on service, value, and consistency--without the attitude or inflated costs. I am going to write this in real time, cause this is wild No one has seen or acknowledged us and we've been here about 20 mins. Not even a hello, so as we kept getting ignored I kept watching who was being seated. I literally took a picture when they just sat down this couple next to us to see how long it would take for them to get served. It took less than a minute, at this point I just get up and I walk out. But I couldn't help it I had to know why that was done, her explanation the manager just recognized that too and if I wanted to sit down and be served they would serve me.
