I had a very disturbing experience at the Mr. Tire location at 941 Route 66 on January 18, 2026.and…read moreoil change so I could safely drive home the next day. I had an appointment and dropped my vehicle off around 1:00 PM. Around 4:20 PM, I received a call saying my car was ready. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle, I discovered it had been severely damaged and was no longer drivable. Staff told me my car had been "hit while parked" in their lot. This explanation did not make sense because there was no debris or evidence of an accident, in the parking lot yet the damage was extensive. The vehicle would not accelerate, the suspension rods were broken, a tire was bent, and there were multiple mechanical issues. This level of damage is far beyond what would occur from a simple parking lot incident. Because the explanation did not add up, I contacted the police and filed a police report. I then had to use my insurance to tow the vehicle at 8:00am the next morning. Since I was far from home, my insurance arranged for the car to be towed to Caliber Collision in Bayville, NJ, and provided a rental. Caliber Collision later stated that there is no way this damage could have occurred while the vehicle was parked, which directly contradicts what I was told at Mr. Tire. Caliber Collision is extremely professional and helpful ensuring I get the help needed. There were also inconsistencies in staff statements. An employee named Nick initially said he did not test-drive my car, but later told police that he did. The manager, Mike, was disrespectful and appeared more focused on covering for staff than taking accountability. What upset me most was the lack of honesty, accountability, and basic concern. When I returned the next morning for the tow, the same employee was working as usual with no acknowledgment or apology. Along with his rude manage Mike who keeps saying my cat was hit in the parking lot and he was not even there. There was nothing wrong with my vehicle when I dropped it off. I asked for a refund from my alignment and oil changed since I never received a usable vehicle after service and was told to contact corporate. I felt humiliated, violated, and disrespected. I was devastated to know someone would do such and stand in your face and gaslight you. The lies were horrible. In addition, they stated they don't have any working cameras. Why when this is a business with many vehicles of customers. I am sharing this so other customers are aware. This experience was unacceptable, and I would not recommend this location to anyone. Integrity and professionalism should always be first when dealing with customers. And my deductible still needs to be paid for this damage. I should not have to come out of my pocket with nothing. Told me about 10% left on the pads and that I should replace soon (no hard sell!!) Normally I wouldn't trust my Q5 to a shop that doesn't specialize in Audi, but knew the brake pads were almost gone, so decided to give them a shot before our 800 mile road trip. They completed all the work right away, was out of there in about 90 minutes or so. However, when we got all the way to our destination, the left front brake was seizing, but released after a little bit. Brakes worked fine as long as I didn't hit them hard, but would seize some if I did brake hard. Called Jiffy Lube and they offered to have me go to a local shop to have them checked out, on their dime, if was their fault. Since we were in a remote area with no auto repair shops close, we were careful for the week, and decided to drive home and have them check out the problem. Made it back fine. Went back to the Howell location. Again, no waiting, they took my car right in and discovered a minor issue with the brake shims they installed. They apologized for the inconvenience, corrected the problem right away, and I was back on the road in no time. Team there was courteous, helpful, very professional, and admitted their mistake immediately. That is what I would call excellent customer service!! They didn't get it quite right the first time, but took care of my problem right away. I appreciate their honesty and commitment to getting me back on the road quickly....

Well, in the past they haven't "lied" or exaggerated the need for service to my previous cars but this time they did. I had brought it in for a tune up but I had noticed the heat was taking longer than usual to warm up and the other day the check engine light came on for a second and then went off. So, the guy told me the mechanic saw it overheating and coolant coming out and it was crazy and all the hoses had to be replaced ASAP. He said it was un-drivable and would be like $2,000 to replace. I was so upset and felt hopeless and started to think who I could call to borrow the money. I thought it was strange because I hadn't seen it overheat and the gauge never moved past halfway. He was showing me pictures of how it looked and all. I told him I needed to see if another mechanic was cheaper and if they would let me pay over time. I called the guy who does my tires and he referred me to Meineke. He said he goes there when he needs work on his car. He told me they were honest. I asked the guy at the dealer if it was safe to drive the 20 minutes to Brick and he said he thinks it should be okay. So, I arrived at Meineke and spoke to RJ. I told him the story. He said he thinks they were exaggerating. So, RJ visually looked at the hoses and he said all looked good except one but it was hard to see. He didn't see any overheating. He couldn't see me that day but scheduled me for Friday first thing (it was Wednesday). He told me he would fill the reserve with coolant and then him and the others in the shop loved how the dealer told me they couldn't put any coolant in the reserve because it had to be my car type of coolant and it would take an hour to get that done. I was annoyed the dealer let me drive with no coolant in the reserve for the 20 minute drive and then find out the car could take general coolant for cars. I left and later bought extra coolant just in case. I returned on Friday morning and they checked it out. Turns out I only needed a clamp of the heater hose. That is why the heat wasn't getting so warm and why the coolant was leaking. I applied for the Synchrony Car Care card in the shop, which they take for all services, and got approved. I didn't even know a card like this existed but it's good for people who can't pay for all their auto expenses up front. Since the part was so cheap, only $50 and not $2k, I got a tune up (since my car is over 100k miles) and they replaced two bulbs that were out. All for the grand total of $314! This business has been family owned since 1979 by the grandparents. I met the son and his son (RJ) and they told me other family members work there as well. The customers in the waiting room told me they wouldn't take their car anywhere else. This is the type of place I would love to go back to. And as a side note, the guys next door at Quicky Discount Oil Change were nice and helpful as well. I will be bringing my car to get my oil changed there in the future.
