Stater bros has been my go to store for the last ten years, but this location is the lacking to say the least. Over the last 6 months I have stopped by on various occasions and always have had an unpleasant experience. All the cashiers lack basic customer service and social etiquette. The only positive encounter I have had with this location was one particular bagger. Plus 9/10 times the fried chicken was not fresh. Considering the area, I am shocked with the unacceptable customer service here. Please take notes from Bressi Ranch location! read more

I forgot my lunch in my car. So after my first client I decided to stop in, buy a water. Then I see a fresh sushi bar, that has excellent prices! I mean, this entire place is immaculate and beautiful. The cashier told me about a place that serves fish tacos for under 2 bucks. Just such an easy going happy helpful experience. It's a nice surprise to find a place of joy. This is not an ordinary market, it's a mini quick refuge. What a delight. read more

My husband and I have been shopping at this location for years, and it continues to impress us. The store is always clean, well-stocked, and neatly organized, with items consistently faced and easy to find. The staff is absolutely wonderful! I especially appreciate the cashiers and baggers who always take the time to engage with my toddler. Most stores don't do this, so it means a lot to us. Grocery shopping used to feel like a chore, but now it's something my daughter genuinely looks forward to. She loves chatting with the employees, who always acknowledge her with kindness, and of course, getting her little stickers at checkout is the highlight of her visit. They've truly made our shopping experience fun and enjoyable. A HUGE shoutout to the meat department team for always going above and beyond to help my husband and me. I find it ridiculous at the bad reviews of this business, it's hard to find people now and days that actually want to work. The fact they are busy is rad. So you have to wait a few minutes. Suck it up and get off your high horse, omg like really people. They have the right to check a one dollar bill if it's legit. Cry me a river people. There are a bunch of newly remodled Stater Brothers, some just got new paint and signage, but the inside still sells the same ol average items. Not this location! This market has the best produce and I never get soggy packaged salad or bad avocadoes here. The butcher shop, deli and bakery are on top of everything. It isn't even that crowded on weekends and I like that check out lines are faster than the Stater Brothers in Carlsbad. Prices are about the same as Carlsbad location too. Thanks, Stater Bros, for not making me enter my phone # to get a discount on your sale items. TIP: their sushi is fresh and well prepared. I don't ever buy grocery store sushi, but trust me the hand made sushi here is better than the sushi at any of the restaurants in the area! read more

I like Stater Bros. A few years ago, they seemed like the expensive grocery chain, but their prices seemed to stay relatively the same, while Vons and Albertsons, etc. came up in price and started making Stater Bros. look cheap. Luckily, I live closer to the Bressi Ranch location, but the problem with that one is that they seem to run out of items more often. I usually end up at this location if I am going to another store around here and I couldn't get something in Bressi. This one is better stocked and I rarely see them run out of items I need, but I have been here around 20-25 times total over 2-3 years and I have had to return something 4 times because I open it and something is rotten and moldy. The first time I got something rotten was actually the first time I came to this location and they were in the middle of the remodel and I got a pack of cheese. I opened it and it was moldy. I didn't come back until after the remodel was complete and things have been good in the past year until the past couple of months. Most recently I had to return a frozen item that had mold all over it when I opened it. Something must be off with the refrigeration in this place. I have NEVER had to return an item from the Bressi Ranch location and I think I will stick to that location from now on, despite the fact that they may run out of something I need. I still leave it at 3 stars though because they have been more reliable than not and most of the items I get are fine. read more

This is for the Encinitas store. This is a clean grocery store with well stocked items. Staff in the produce section are always welcoming and willing to offer assistance or answer any questions. A few times I've been there the staff at the register haven't been pleasant at all. They often engage in personal conversations and don't acknowledged your presence until it's time to summarize the total bill. I finally decided to stop shopping there because one female cashier made a comment stereotyping a group of people saying they were mentally ill. This was clearly a political discussion and I found it both insulting to the group and disturbing for anyone who has a mental illness. There were many in line that overheard this. All I want to do is shop and not hear such negativity. read more

Nothing stellar to report at this grocery store location, just good service and a wide selection of beer and wine choices at the front of the store. We live in Escondido, but this store is the closest location to my dad's house in Encinitas. So, in a grocery pinch we stop here for supplies. On this visit we needed a chilled bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, and Stater Bros. did not disappoint. We found our selection quickly, and were checked out in a flash through the express lane. Wanted to take the time to highly compliment the gentlemen in the butcher department. Because of the Independence Day holiday I wanted to make it really special by slow cooking some ribs I don't have a smoker but I wanted to make it extra nice. Especially this year 2020. I went to go pick up the ribs and I was so surprised that they had beef ribs and they had pork baby back ribs. The gentleman who helped we get them for me was real kind courteous. Makes me glad that he takes pleasure in what he does for the people of our community. But it gets better. The next morning I went to go fix up the ribs from the refrigerator. I was so surprised! The fat and the membrane had totally been trimmed off the ribs. Take this from a girl who is so used to picking up ribs and cleaning them up. I have done that many times. (Ralph's, Food4Less, Vons, Pavillions) I've made this place my choice for top choice meat. Suppose I was entertaining or having a special occasion, this place for picking up!!! Got a smoke out? They have a great bakery with frozen Julian Pie Company apple pies! As a visitor to San Diego County, it saves a trip to Julian to get a pie. Also, delicious almondy bear claws from a self serve cabinet. This store is located in a huge shopping plaza that has a Target as well as an REI. read more

Stater Bros is a solid grocery store in a city that has grocery stores on every corner. The per capita grocery stores per square mile quotient in this hood is something like infinity if I remember anything from my last math class. I infrequently shop here for a couple of reasons. Most of the local markets have recently renovated their interiors. Stater brothers feels dated, when I shop here it does not provide any atmosphere, it is just meh inside. It is a big store and the prices are not high or low, they are "up the middle". My biggest beef here is long check out lines. read more

I normally see Stater Bros as a clean and friendly store. But today (7Feb2023) prior to my shopping, I stopped to use the restroom and it was during this time (about 5:32) that I witnessed an employee use the restroom and not wash their hands! I heard a the water turn on then an immediate noise from the paper towels and she was out the door before the water could even shut itself off. Needless to say, I'm not shopping here! Gross! Over the last couple months I noticed new baggers, that's great they need the help, however more than once I witnessed one of your cashier's in a white shirt was so demeaning and rude. She was also rude to the customer in front of me when he tried to joke about her being mean to the employee. Had I not seen this behavior more than once I would never posted. I have shopped at this store for years and I've always loved it. The manager Mike is a great guy and the meat department is outstanding. Over the last year or so I've noticed the lines being much longer than usual and less checkstands open as well. Now, I'm a reasonable guy and I don't mind waiting in line or waiting for another cashier to open up another lane. Last week however, there was only one cashier open around 6:30pm and the line was halfway down the aisle. I heard the cashier call on the loudspeaker "Maria checker service please" twice. 5 minutes go by and I'm still in line, the line is growing behind me, and no sign of "Maria." Once I reach the point to start unloading my groceries, Maria shows up (older lady with a ponytail and glasses. She's a manager I believe) and she takes me to another register. She must have been stressed out or something cause she was very unpleasant to me and even worse to the bagger. She scolded the poor bagger right in front of me and he was doing the best he could! She didn't even help him bag my large order and overall, I left with a very bad taste in my mouth. The rest of management is great, Mike the store manager, the short Hispanic woman, red headed young lady, Hispanic young man- Jose, but Maria was awful and I hope something is done about this. read more
