Ever since the "remodel" the store feels closterphobic. It is so crowded, even when there are few customers. And, they took out the other door, so there is only one way in and out. That was not well thought out. And let's leave a word about prices! Wow. This used to be my go to market because it was affordable. Not anymore, been shopping at Aldis because I just can't afford Staters most of the time. Talk about sticker shock. $6.49 for 24 oz of Oreos? nope, not taking that home. read more

I used to shop at Stater Bros in Upland for years in the 2000's, and always had a good feeling about them, until tonight. In the environment of unaffordability right now I am price conscious, so I saw a big price tag for a 2 liter Bottle of Mountain Dew. I was tired coming off work and looked at the price $1.99, and the word "sale". I immediately thought good deal and tried to buy it. See the store label and tell me what you guys think. I think it's very misleading. Oh, you must buy 3 more to get it for $1.99 each! Not for one, which is still way more than Walmart. Otherwise it's $3.49 for ONE! I told the cashier I thought the label was misleading, and can I just get it for $1.99, people behind me are waiting. He couldn't make a decision, so he calls the store manager Daniel. Daniel on the phone to him said "No" even before meeting me to discuss it. I later saw him coming after I paid $3 49. He said he had the discretion , but said "They don't want me to say yes" I said I'm am pissed about this and I don't think I want to shop here anymore. He said, "That's your choice." I said, wow, you lose a customer for life over $1.50!! Yes that's the way they are trained. Rediculous. They are trained "employees", not "owners". Owner mentality cares about "Retaining customers in a competitive environment. You hear all this Corporate office? Is it worth losing customers over misleading price labels? And you're having this attitude in a very competitive environment? Interesting. I'll never shop there again because Walmart or any other store would just have to overridden it to keep the customer after he told you he wouldn't shop there anymore. read more

Paper bags WITHOUT handles, is a joke!!! Here is why ... I have Osteoarthritis in my hands, etc. If I forget my recycle bags, the paper bags have tear causing groceries to drop to the ground. Also Instacart is having to use them with the same issue to my home!!! Who's idea was this to have no handles???? Trader Joe's paper bags have handles and are much studier. Really bad Stater Bros not to have handles especially for people with disabilities and elderly. read more

My daughter and I do our smaller or quick shopping here. It's one of the few stores where they actually have human checkers and bag people where they still customer service you! This store is usually clean, inside and outside. They usually have the food or other items that we need. We also like that you can get a set amount of cash back at the register. Comes in handy when we need dollars or quarters. Their vegetables and fruits are usually good! They have a nice deli with helpful workers. It's a place you can shop, get good deals, and not have a club card. I do try to stay away at busy times or holidays because checkout is a bit longer lines. I came here because it was convient to where I was. I live and shop in Claremont usually. I came into the remodeled store. The EMPLOYEES NEED A REMODEL. Not one person in the store acknowledge my presence. The employees were talking to each other blocking access to where customers needed to be. At the cash register no acknowledgement of my presence at all. Cashier never said hello or smiled or anything. Rang up my groceries. She then handed my reciept and said here you go! Maybe these people just though I didn't belong in Upland. When I was returning my cart to the front, there was an employee sorting carts and just walked right past me. I thought maybe he'd offer to take my cart. NOPE! I guess I'll just stay shopping in Claremont! read more

I attended the grand opening of this market in the 1970s . Now I can say I attended the grand reopening. Staters has packed a lot in to this store. So additions include a sushi bar, cut fruit and veggies island expanded hot food & bakery. The staff is there and has memorized the new lay out. The new cases in the service deli & service meat department are very nice. The store makes use of some bold colors. The downside. Given the space constraints the cut fruit island and sushi bar consume a lot of space while the fresh fruits and veggies area is cramped and selection is limited . If you wanted tomatoes there were only cherry, organic and regular. If you need to get a card and balloons the selection is extremely limited. Most everything was upgraded new floors, lights, display cases, check out stands but somehow the produce refrigeration was just given a paint job . Bottom line. Go for the meat, the baked goods and the specials x go to Smart & Final for produce and dairy. read more

I bought a tri tip from Staters. Looked decent, low in the fat. Wanted to try my new Smoker. Opened the package to trim it up and when I turned it over, OML, the fat calf came on out. The back side was complete fat. This was cut by a " certified" butcher? Certified to gouge the public? Was he/ she having a bad day? I personally know how the day behind the staters meat counter is. I won't say how but I do. Treat your butcher and all people with respect, it's what we're called to do, but that goes for everyone, including the butchers. Do your job and do it well, because you may be cutting off your own fat if you deceive the paying public. Meaning, you'll be out of customers and a job. I came in on a Tuesday night and the cashier and bagger looked at me as if I were not welcomed there. It was about 15 minutes to closing but I don't think that's an excuse. I'm spending my hard earned money there and all I ask is politeness. The cashier neither look me in the eye once as he rung up my items. Nor when he told me I needed to hit the prompt on the kiosk asking me if I want cash.. so extremely rude. At least the bagger acknowledged me. In top of that, Construction going on and a couple of the workers are pretty rude. You got two keys, two checkers, and a produce guy here yet you only leave 3 registers open while there's a rush? Normal night and an 8pm mid shift key? Sure, go ahead and close 3 tills. But a busy night with help AND a mid shift past 8pm? Why the hell aren't you leaving 1, 4, 6 and 5 open? (11/03) I understand the store is under renovation, but someone should still be checking the produce... on top of that as I was checking out, I almost forgot my receipt. I should have looked at the stars before ordering from here, but it was close and I needed items for a sports banquet. I ordered the day before and when I arrived at the store promptly by 4:00 pm the agreed upon time, no chicken. They said wait an hour, I said yes because people are counting on me. I arrive promptly at 5:00 pm and they said it would take another 20 minutes. And now I am here and they are not even waiting on me. They know the did bad. They head guy even said he missed the order. I purchased 4 two liter sodas ... I made sure I got the ones on sale buy 4 or more 7up 2 liters for .99 cents. The cashier said I purchased one from the other soda company and had to exchange it. There I go taking the wrong one back for another. When I go back to finish the transaction she says I need to buy 5 for the deal?! There I go back to the aisle a second time to get the fifth two liter she said I needed in order to get the promotion. She gave me $1.81 back in change?? Had a bad experience at this store tonight on 01/27/24 @ 8pm. Guy in the deli department named David P. has the worst customer service and just a terrible attitude. Doesn't say hello or how can I help you, then proceeds to toss my turkey meat and doesn't at least "here ya go".. nothing. He acts like he's pissed at the world. This is not the first time I deal with this person and he acts the same every time. I did let someone know in the front register. He was very apologetic. Unfortunately I didn't get his name. Very disappointed in stater brothers on Mountain and foothill in Upland did some grocery shopping and bought two chicken strips in the deli to snack on they should be called chicken rocks because they were as hard as a rock and as dry. I have shopped here many years, I have always found the workers well mannered, friendly and helpful. The produce is kept fresh and a good variety. The meat dept are quick to serve and clean. They usually ask me if I need help to load my groceries and seldom allow long lines to build up without requesting help to open a new register. They're missing the mark today. They have plenty of workers however they have the cashier inside also filling food orders from online. That's means,,,,,people that order their food in advance are waiting until she is through with the people in l store. The customer service here is horrible. I actually had an experience here and decided to never shop here again. I would spend at least $250 a month here so that's their loss. I'm sure the managers does nothing about reprimanding or retraining their employees because multiple other people have had the same experience as I did. Employees talking down on customers right in our faces. I remember it was a white guy operating a forklift machine and a heavy set white lady with some colored hair (either purple, red, blue). Either way, why speak negatively about the people that keep your business up and running? If they hate their jobs that much they need to just find a new one. I had gone in to do my "Super Bowl" shopping & needed some help with items. The night manager, Matt Nelson, went above and beyond to help me find everything I needed for my party & showed me the great deals to save money on. They sell expired cheese and the staff is rude to customers and their employees. There's only one motor cart for handicaps as well. My grandmother had to wait an hour til someone was done using the other motor cart for disabled people. Very inconvenient. This problem has not been fixed in over a month. I really enjoy going to Stater Brothers and I usually go out of my way to shop at one. Coming from someone who worked in customer service for 15 years, I truly understand working with the public is not an easy job. This location has the WORST customer service. I am not speaking from just one experience, it is EVERY time I go. The lines are always really long and everyone seems like they are being bothered to ring customers up. This is the closest market to my work and I am usually on time crunch, I always seem to be late getting back from lunch when I go to this location. read more

I've been a regular at this store for years. I've never had a problem with it, until I noticed that I kept buying expired food. The main issue is in the yogurt section. We are almost over with December, and there are products in there from November. I've let the first couple of times slide, but now I just refuse to buy my dairy products from Stater's. I've had the same issue with the lunch meat section. I get the impression that nobody at that store cares about getting people potentially sick over expired foods. I'd rather just take my business to Von's down the street. read more

Made beef jerky cuts for me " no questions asked" I've been practicing recipes for about 3 month with a smoker and dehydrator.. the butcher at this market understood what I was looking for, made the cuts, and boom!!!!
