Traditional diner in Okemos with a large selection of breakfast and lunch options. We were there for breakfast and had the Southwest Burrito and the Lox Bagel. Both were solid, but nothing above and beyond. Service was very quick and attentive, food was served within about 10 minutes of ordering. Inside was a simple diner with both booth and table options. For two entrees, a coffee, fountain soda, and tip, bill ran just shy of $50, which felt expensive for a diner. Will will come back to try their lunch sandwich options.

We really enjoyed it! The food was tasty and homemade. They had vegetarian and even vegan options and although they were made with packaged meat substitutes they were generous and well cooked. The potato tots were especially good though seasoned fries maybe had a little too much seasoning. The weight staff was really friendly and responsive. It's a pretty plain spot spot inside, but reminded me of a classic New York deli. There is some outdoor seating, booths, and tables. My only comment would be that it gets a little crowded around the cash register.

Stopped by Stateside Deli & Restaurant and had a really solid experience. I ordered a BLT with no meat (vegetarian style), fries, and a Coke. First -- they were very accommodating with the special order. The staff had no issue modifying the sandwich, which is always appreciated when you're looking for vegetarian options at a classic deli. The sandwich came out fresh with crisp lettuce, tomato, and nicely toasted bread. Simple, but done right. The fries were hot and well-seasoned -- good texture and portion size. Coke was cold and served quickly. Service overall was fast and friendly, and the place was clean with that traditional neighborhood deli feel. Looking at the menu, there are quite a few items that can be customized, which makes this a solid stop even if you don't eat meat. Bottom line: quick service, flexible kitchen, and dependable comfort food. I'd come back, especially for an easy casual lunch.

So happy to have finally found someplace that is worth all the hype around here. I have had my eye on this restaurant since we moved into the area last year. We finally made our way over to the quaint little strip mall where Stateside calls home. We were greeted by the gentleman who we assumed was the owner. What a sweet man he is and so absolutely kind. You can tell he loves his customers and he made us feel right at home, even our two crazy toddlers. My husband and I each ordered a different sandwich and split them. They were both so delicious we couldn't decide which one we liked better. I'm always skeptical about coleslaw because there are so many bad ones out there, but the Price is Right was absolutely delicious. The slaw was perfectly balanced and complimented the corned beef and pastrami nicely. My husband ordered the Spencer's Reuben and it was by far the best Reuben we have ever had. We just couldn't get enough, although both sandwiches were absolutely huge in size. The amount of meat they put on them is beyond generous. Out of the sides we ordered, we liked the tots over the fries. We would definitely get those again. We can't wait to go back already and maybe just maybe we will get something new, like the lamb gyro or tuna melt. Fast and friendly service, amazing and fresh food...what's not to love?

Excellent deli - most authentic NY style and Reuben's in the area! Meats are super duper tender. The chicken lemon rice soup is a must. Service is quick and friendly. I can get out of here in 30 minutes or less at lunch. They also serve breakfast all day.

    Seasoned fries

We had the Chicken Caesar wraps and they were amazing! Meat was well seasoned and the all the ingredients tasted fresh. Also had some cheese melted to the wrap. Fries were great too! Service was really good and food was served fast. It was a little pricey, $50 for lunch for two people but that's normal for that area..

Corned Beef Hash with poached eggs.

Made my 2nd visit here today (12/27)/23.) The first visit was for a Ruben Sandwich (EXCELLENT) and homemade chili (a complete miss - very bland tasting - will remember this the next time.) The single reason for this 2nd visit was the promise of homemade corned beef hash for breakfast. And it was good - not the absolute best that I have ever had, but better than anything that I have found in the area. It is made from scratch - this is easy to tell. But the poached eggs!! FANTASTIC!!! I almost asked to go into the kitchen to watch the chef's technique! Great, friendly service. I will continue to return when in town. One star deducted for two reasons: (1) home fry style potatoes - I prefer hashbrowns and I think that this would add to the dish. (2) I asked for tomato juice and without asking, they served V8...in a can. I like V8 on occasion, but please ask me if the substitute is ok AND the can packaging sometimes makes the juice taste "metallic." Fortunately, this time it was fine.

    Matzo Ball Soup
    Yace H.

Took me a long long time to finally try this place but once I did, I've been back twice. Service is seat yourself, menus on table, server comes. There are pictures so it makes ordering easy. Before people start whining about the sandwiches being expensive, they literally give you so much meat if you had another couple slices of bread you could make two. I had the matzo ball soup. Something rare around here. It was a good broth, the matzo ball a bit denser than I'd like, but what gets me (because second time I came I got the broccoli cheddar) is that these soups come out lukewarm. I wish they were hotter. Try the pastrami sandwiches or the combo with the corned beef. You won't go wrong. Meaty and huge. You're not gonna find that around here. Good dressing. Good slaw. I can taste my next one. Will be back soon. 3.8/5

I came in on a Saturday (8/22/15) around 4:45pm to shop at the mall and get some food. The reason I…read moream leaving 1 star is not because the food is terrible (although it wasn't very good), but more so because of the staff. Here are the reasons. 1.) The two employees behind the counter were having a conversation and even though I was standing there ready to order, it took them a good 20 seconds to wrap up their conversation and acknowledge my presence. 2.) I ordered the ultimate fries with the ranch on the side. The guy behind the counter (with the tattoos on his forearm) literally grabs a tray of fries that were sitting there with ranch on it, throws some toppings on it, and hands it to me. I reeeeally didn't want to eat cold fries that were made who knows when. Where did these fries even come from and how long were they sitting there with ranch on top? They were really soggy looking. I reminded him him that I wanted the ranch on the side and he looks at me and says "I have to make it again then." I paused for a moment thinking "okay? what are you waiting for?" He really tried to make me feel bad about it and after a little attitude, he went to making them again. I even apologized (for making him do his job perhaps) and thanked him when my order was up. 3.) A third male employee comes outta nowhere while I was eating. He really caught my attention because as he was walking towards Charley's, he dropped a really large stack of sauce containers and made a big scene. Here is the really DISGUSTING part. Instead of throwing those dirty contaminated containers away, with the help of the guy with the tattoos on his forearm, they picked them up took them behind the counter and restocked their supply. Do they really not have a clue how filthy the floor of a food court in a mall is? I will never eat at Charley's again!

Apparently it's owned by the guys who own Lou & Harry's, and it opened in 2021. I guess I must have passed by without noticing it. I'm glad we stopped in because the food was really good. The menu specializes in cheesesteak hoagies and burgers, so I was excited to try a cheesesteak as we don't have a ton of options for them in Grand Rapids. We got the pazzo: Shaved ribeye steak, grilled onion, banana pepper, Jalapeno pepperjack cheese, pepperoni, and ranch marinara. You can upgrade to a combo which comes with fries and a drink, which we did. We got the cajun fries, but you can get waffle fries, ranch fries, or cheese fries. Our food was ready really quickly and it was super hot and fresh. The sandwich was big enough to split for a decent sized meal. There was quite a bit of meat and all the toppings worked well together. It was definitely greasy and pretty messy, and really salty - but I liked it. It's not something I could order regularly, but it was so tasty. The fries were fresh, thin cut, and the cajun seasoning was also really salty. If you're sensitive to salt - maybe avoid this spot. The bread of the sandwich got a little soggy, but it wasn't completely falling apart, which was good. This place is open late on the weekends and would be great for intoxicated or hungover college kids. They were doing quite a few Grubhub orders while we were there - I don't think I'd recommend this as delivery food as the sandwiches probably get pretty soggy if left to sit for too long. I'd come back and try more of the sandwiches.
