I hate to give a negative review, but the service and food were subpar. Ordered gyoza, asked if they do pan fired, she assured me they can but are normally deep fried. Gyoza arrived deep fried, returned and the next "pan fried" because they were steamed, not crispy on the bottom. Hold that thought for later. I said I wouldn't eat them nor pay for them. No problem and no apology. Ordered teriyaki chicken $18 , chicken was dry, sauce was drizzled on one side, not marinaded. I've never seen anything like this. Ordered som find of crunchy rice appetizer that were so huge the chop sticks broke (lol ). My daughter got stomach sick from her sashimi order. Worst service ever. We ordered a ramen, 2 sushi rolls, calamari, and chicken teriyaki bowl. We received the ramen and chicken bowl in a timely manner. No complaints about that. But our sushi and our APPETIZER took over 20 minutes to arrive. We had to remind the waitress to get our sushi, which was immediately prepared so we believe it wasn't even registered to be prepared. Took my party of 2 about 15 minutes to be seated but then waited another hour before I actually ate any food. The kitchen seems to small to be able to handle a packed house. Stopped by here with some friends for lunch on a Sunday afternoon after a hike. The vibe was my type of place. Laid back and we were able to sit anywhere we preferred. We sat in the outside area because the inside was a little too warm. It took the waitress a bit long to come to our table, but I wasn't in a rush, so I didn't mind. I ordered the Samurai Roll, Unagi Nigiri and based on the waitresses' recommendation, the Spicy Tuna Nachos. It took about 20 mins for the food to come out, and we didn't receive the edamame my girlfriend ordered. The nachos were eh. They had way too much sauce on them, and the tuna didn't taste that good. The roll was alright but nothing too amazing. It came with some Garlic Ponzu Sauce, but I wish there were a bit more on it. The roll wasn't made very tightly and was falling apart which is a bummer. We had an excellent experience at Station Sushi! Arnold was our server and he was so attentive, friendly and got everything we ordered correct. He even put the heaters closer to our table per our request because we had our two little daughters with us. We made it in time to eat our whole meal during happy hour, which was amazing, because the whole bill was probably 30% or more discounted. The prices here in general are pretty good to begin with, but the happy hour menu definitely let allowed us to order a little more freely. We ordered the gyoza which was good (I usually like mine more crispy), Miso soup (very good, and filled to the brim which was great! This, unfortunately, wasn't on the happy hour menu, but was only $2 each), tempura (very good!), and then four orders of sushi. I've included a photo of the sushi plate-man that was a lot of sushi! And it was delicious. Great portions, and quality ingredients. I would absolutely come back here in a heartbeat and would try to do it during happy hour again! As I mentioned, Arnold was great, and the other staff seemed excellent as well-they came by our table to make sure we were doing well, and specifically, I know the owner came by once too. The location is near the beach although you can't see the beach from the restaurant, but we did come over here after a day at Fletcher Cover. There's parking down the street at a little shopping center, which was also great, because there's not much at the restaurant. I bet during the weekend things could get really busy here, but on a Wednesday at 430pm when we came, we only waited about 5 minutes, although parties were waiting a lot longer as we ate our meal. read more

My sushi-loving neighbor and I went back to Station to see how things have changed under the new ownership. Overall we were not impressed. We had 2 different servers, but neither was very attentive. We ordered the toro special on their recommendation, only to be told 10 minutes later they were out of toro. The item still appeared on our bill ($35 extra). The dynamite roll was mostly rice. One thing we did enjoy is the spicy tuna nacho appetizer - full of tasty tuna. And they finally have a good beer, Stone IPA. If I go back, I may just stick to nachos and IPA. read more

We chose to sit at the sushi bar, because we like to see how the sushi chef prepare the food. Jeff was the sushi chef at that day, he is very skilled, very easy to talk, answered the 1000 questions that my wife and I asked very politely and professionally. Based on your conversation he assumed our taste and suggested the best options he had for us and he hit right on the spot, the food was delicious. Takeout is a disaster - you have to go up to a takeout window one person at a time. 2 of 2 times that we've ordered takeout everyone else standing outside had to wait until they finished preparing takeout for the person standing at the window. Suggestion Sushi station: if the order isn't ready, ask the person to step aside so those whose food is ready can pick it up and leave. Super inefficient. Sushi is decent but not worth the takeout hassle. I've also seen some reviews where people who were on a seating wait list were trumped by other persons. Cute little cottage. Little being the operative word. If you don't get here right when it opens then you'll be waiting for a while. I made the mistake of arriving too late and had to wait for almost two hours. I was with some people who had their heart set on this place or I would have bailed. We were comped some cocktails because of some seating errors that they had made. But I can hardly comment on the sushi because by the time we were seated I was so freaking wasted that at that point whale vomit would have tasted good.
