Our a party of six had a great experience, it was my mothers birthday and they really went above and beyond to make her feel special. My wife communicated ahead of time and they gave a complimentary drink (her favorite) and handwritten Birthday note to my Mom on arrival. We brought our three children, ages 8, four and three and everyone was very welcoming and engaging with them. We ordered Meatballs at the suggestion of the server, it is essentially the same as the meatloaf we were considering as entree for kids to save $ and a few sides, the server again helped us make sure not to order WAY too much (we had plenty of leftovers). The server was very attentive and personable. This was a high end fine dining experience that I'd recommend for anyone. Likely because my wonderful wife called ahead and warned them about our kids we were seated at the "chefs corner" with a glass wall separating us from the kitchen which was a nice bonus. The steak was the star of the show, excellent cut and well prepared. Everything else was great too. If we had to pick a least favorite side it was the au gratin potatoes but they weren't bad in any way, just didn't blow us away. We ordered the 12oz filet medium and shared it. Pork chop and scallops were very good too. Corn crème brûlée was very sweet, kids loved that and the Mac and cheese. Desserts were great, I think the chocolate cake was a bigger hit than the popcorn ice cream but there was none left. read more

My family and I had dinner at Steak 48 on Christmas Eve - even though the place was completely full, the quality of service was individualized. Every bite was fantastic - ranging from filet mignons to sea scallops to corn creme brûlée. Would like to personally thank our waiter, Mark, who continued to provide excellent service from beginning to end. As an example, he brought extra olives for the martinis and ended the meal with a plate of warm chocolate chip cookies. Unfortunately, the sticker shock prices you pay for this 'fine dining experience' falls very short in reality. My dear friend and her husband drove all the way from Virginia to celebrate her 40th birthday and it was a huge disappointment. The area we were sat in did not feel cozy, but more like constricting, the food was meh and on top of it, my poor friend got food poisoning from their Sea Bass as she was the only one among us to eat something different. the restaurant knew it was her birthday and did not even offer a free dessert-and the desserts were not good. This restaurant was lovely! Everything was great! The atmosphere, the waiter, the food, and the drink! I had the petite filet mignon steak (however, I was charged for the regular 12oz..a mistake I didn't notice until just now) and let me say....it was delicious! It was so tender! The sides were delicious as well (Brussel sprouts with bacon and parmesan cheese, mashed potatoes, and the chef Chef Heather King's au gratin potatoes). To drink I had the stone fruit martini which was good and apparently one of their most popular drinks. Over all I would definitely go back and I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It is upscale so if you're a budget type of person then you'd probably want to plan in advance for this experience. Also, you'll need to make a reservation. An absolute perfect evening from start to finish. We celebrated my father's 84th birthday. We had Chloe as our server. She was phenomenal. Absolutely on point recommendations and impeccable service. If you are a social climber for whom it is de rigueur to be seen at the restaurant-of-the-moment, with Bentleys and Lambos strategically positioned outside, and a bunch of vapid wannabes just like yourself crammed inside, then get on over to Steak48 post haste. If, however, you happen to be a single diner who enjoys cozying up to the bar, befriending the barkeep, soliciting his/her advice on a perfect libation and joyful repast, and enjoying a civilized night out, then by all means head straight to the Palm. Or Oak. Or Ruth's Chris. Or Del Frisco's. All are within a few hundred yards of Steak 48 and each will warmly greet you, graciously escort you to a comfortable seat at the bar, provide you a menu and offer you a drink. You'll get none of that at Steak48. I visited Steak48 for the first and last time earlier tonight. It was the worst restaurant experience of my life. And I should note that I have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of my life dining at the best restaurants in New York and LA where I lived prior to Charlotte. I was by myself and when I approached the bar, I counted 9 empty seats. Yet the myriad employees behind the bar, none of whom offered to prepare me one of their $20 "Signature Cocktails", admonished me when I naively attempted to claim one. The empty bar seats were all reserved, I was told. By the manager, no less (just in case I was bold enough to go rogue and just claim one, I guess)! After standing there like a vagrant waiting for a hand-out for 10 mins while the cognoscenti conferred, I was told that I could have a spot behind the cash register. Like a winner of the Taylor Swift ticket sweepstakes offered a standing room "seat" behind a stanchion, I momentarily felt lucky just to be there. But after wallowing there for another 10 minutes without any sort of acknowledgment from the plentiful staff, I got up and walked out, retrieved my Ford Explorer, and drove to the Palm. Where I hung out with a charming bartender, Andrew, and enjoyed a perfect libation and joyful repast. read more

Steak 48 does a nice job living up to the hype. This is a huge restaurant designed with various rooms off a center hall, each with their own personality and ambiance. It reminds me of one of my favorite prices of music, "Pictures At and Exhibition" by Mussorgsky. The service is on point and the food is excellent. They don't mind charging a premium, but they also deliver a premium experience. So, it's worth it. I've been five times and have not yet tried anything that was not well executed. Of particular note is the massive and perfectly prepared king crab legs. Be warned, they're massive! The staff is great at reading the table so engage with them, go with the flow, and take their cues and suggestions. You'll be happy. The lounge is a nice spot to be more casual for drinks and apps or even the full menu. It has a good energy, and you can watch the people coming and going at the entrance, which is a fun experience in itself. If you want a really unique experience ask for a booth in the back overlooking the kitchen. They have a limited number of booths with a floor to ceiling glass wall that looks straight into the kitchen. It's like having a chef's table but without paying a premium. It's an intimate setting for two to four people and a lot of fun to watch all the action. read more

Best steak restaurant I've been to. The service was impeccable start to finish. The steaks were amazing and any time you can find a bone in fillet you should order it! The sauces were unnecessary but fantastic- I really loved the truffle butter (I didn't even order it, but my husband shared). Our server Dennis was attentive, accommodating and thorough. He spoiled us for other restaurants. We thought we ordered way too much food but it was so delicious we didn't have any leftovers. My husband and I shared a Wedge salad, and Dennis made sure I had the extra blue cheese. They cut and dressed it for us. We ordered fresh east coast oysters with many different accompanying sauces, would order many more oysters next time. We had bone in steaks that were perfect cooked and mushrooms and roasted Brussels for side that were also perfect. Looking forward to a return visit. To start I have been here several times. Not once have I been disabled. The food is always delicious! My steak is always cooked to perfection, so tender and seasoned. The cream corn brûlée is my favorite side dish and apparently everyone else's because once they were out of it lol. The sautéed shrimp is also a favorite of mines! I came here with my girlfriends. We ordered two bottles of wine, a couple rounds of cocktails, the seafood tower, steaks, salmon entree, oysters, and more. The food was amazing, except the experience was a bit weird. The server was very nice but dropped my friend's steak on the table cloth because the plate was so hot it burned him. We would think my friend would get a new steak without them having to ask us, but we felt so bad for the server that we accepted to eat the steak that fell on the table. It stained the table cloth, so the server placed another napkin to cover the stain while we ate. We also got a new hot sizzling plate to place our fallen steak on... which then cooked the medium rare steak a little bit more... but we still ate it. Looking back, we kind of wish we were just given a new clean steak instead of given the option to choose because I honestly didn't have the heart to tell them to make a new one for us. We also didn't want the waiter to get in trouble because he was nice! Also, here's a funny part, I left the bathroom and slipped and landed on my stomach/face. Another fault of mine as I was wearing new black heels with red soles that are known to be slippery. It knocked the wind out of me but all the servers around me and a chef helped me up to sit. Then the chef took me back to the table. The manager came to check on me and the server updated my friends at the table. I had bruises on my stomach the next day haha but this was a fault of mine for wearing new shoes. At least we know their floors are clean! Nothing was comped but we had so much fun. Steak 48 is ALWAYS 5 stars, always--from the valets out front, to the hostesses, bartenders, chefs and waitstaff, to the appetizers, salads and steaks, it's one of my favorite places. I've never been able to hold dessert so I cannot speak to that part of the menu. Check out the very cool bar scene, all by itself, or while you wait for a table. Even if you've only gone in once or twice, go back 6 months later, and the bartenders will likely remember you and your favorite beverage. The decor is lovely. People come in dressed to the nines and act accordingly...And, if you mention an allergy, they will bend over backwards to keep you safe and provide you many options. read more

Wanted to treat myself, heard great things. Upon entering you receive warm welcome. Stood for a while waiting to be seated. Friendly staff otherwise. I was seated by the loudest speaker in the restaurant. Could barely hear the person next to me. The music didn't match the ambiance AT ALL. I asked for them to lower it slightly. The manager said that he couldn't lower it because "others are enjoying it". That was weird...didn't realize we were at the club but ok. On to the meal, I wish all places brought food to the table that's as hot. Nothing is worse than a cold/lukewarm food. It's nice to be able to order something other than fajitas to get hot food. The sides outshined the steak, unfortunately. The steak left something to be desired. Subpar flavor, not cooked as ordered and the cut was just ok. My thing with a place like this is that they spend literally all day cooking steaks to order. They have one job, cook the steak the way you ask. I'm no Donald Trump, far from, so I'd rue the day I order a steak extra well done. Yet I would have had to do that to get a proper medium. The filet I ordered was really red in the center. When I brought this to their attention their solution was to take the steak and put it back on the burner. Cool, only they bring it back severely over cooked. It wasn't edible. I was given a box for my piece of rubber. As consolation, I was offered a dessert but declined. Ice cream wasn't going to remedy the $70+ I just threw away on a crap steak. A place like this has all the resources afforded to them to get it right. They shouldn't miss the mark this poorly, especially when you're paying a decent amount. If you market your establishment as top tier, then bring it. I'm not likely to come back. There are other places in Charlotte that deliver. But I'd get a nice cut of meat and cook it myself before I have another experience like this with steak and pay that price. No thank you. read more

Went for anniversary dinner and it was OK but not great. Dry martini was the best thing I had. Love it when it comes with the sidecar. Burrata app was also excellent. Brussels sprouts and asparagus sides OK. Steak was disappointing. Bone-in ribeye lacked flavor. Service was outstanding. Waiter was knowledgeable and personable. Not crazy about our seat on the other side of the window next to the cash register. Note to manager: Do not seat the couple celebrating 35 years of marriage in one of the worst seats in the house. Ok, so let me start by saying this place is worthy of any & all hype it gets! I'm breaking my review down by category to better organize, see below. Ambiance- its fancy but not dry, if that makes sense. The music was diverse, as it got later they played a few soulful/R&B tracks. Our seats were in the front to the left, seating for 2 & it was pretty intimate. Bathrooms were clean & matches the over all feel of the restaurant. Not many photo opp worthy backdrops if that's your thing but the food itself is all the photo you need lol. Service- it was my bday & my day was hectic to say the least. They were super accommodating to me running late (locked keys in car). Our server was knowledgeable, honest & helpful with recommendations. It was truly an experience. We actually had 2 people made available to us which was a nice touch. Food- Finally! The best part, if you're tired of reading, know this...everything was phenomenal! Now for the deets...the chicken fried lobster was the best seasoned lobster I've ever had. It tastes exactly as its name suggest & worth every penny! Definitely enough to share as an app or entree for 1 if you add sides. The crab cakes were amazing, jumbo lump and no filler in sight. I'm a tough critic of these (from DMV) but they beyond passed the test! Very filling. The au gratin potatoes & Brussels were great choices full of flavor & again, very filling so shareable for 2 for sure. BF got the pork chops & only left bones so I take it he was satisfied!
