Old time rustic steakhouse. The employees were friendly and helpful. The service was great and the staff checked on regularly. You enter the restaurant and are greeted by staff and they take your order. Then you go down the line a grab your salad if you chose that as one of your sides. Also, you grab your soft drink and silverware before paying. You find a table and wait for your food. They have a self serve potato bar and hot self serve steak toppings bar. Steaks were good, sides were good and the garlic bread was tasty. Prices were good. This is not a high end steakhouse, but more on par with sizzler quality, and a more family friendly vibe! If co you're looking for a good steak, with an old time feel, then head down to Steak Corral!

I've never been to this place but I saw it on social media. I just loved everything about it. The food was delicious and the service was fast. I felt like I was going back in time. I just loved everything. The girls were super friendly and patient since we were kinda lost because it was our first time there. I can't wait to go back!

Every time we come here, it always brings me back to the IE, but I love coming here not just for the amazing prices for steak, but the great value and not to mention, the food is pretty good. It is so hard to find restaurants that serve steak at their great prices. I hope that they can continue to offer such a great value. If I was a selfish individual, I would gate keep this restaurant, but I would not want to do anything to affect their business. In fact, I hope more people come here, but I don't think that is an issue because Steak Corral has been around as long as I myself have been alive. The low frills style but great service, you are welcomed in as you come in and your order is taken right up front at the start of the self served salad bar, (one trip only) the drink station which is also self serve however the drinks do come with free refills, a limited choice of desserts, and at the end is a friendly staff to verify your order and to ring up your selections. They have a tip jar near the register for cash tips, but as an advice, and not to get into the whole tipping debate, if you are paying by credit card, advice the cashier you would like to add a tip on your transaction because unlike other restaurants, the receipt you sign does not give you the option to add a tip. The service here is great. They do bring your order to your table, they will help with any questions, but if you want condiments, or add ons to your meal, they have a condiments bar that is self serve but you can add items like grilled onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, gravy, teriyaki sauce, bbq sauce, and even nacho cheese. You want extra butter, get what you want. Need chives, help yourself. As I mentioned the great value, all extras that are at the self serve bar are complimentary. Honestly, if you have never been here before, you truly have to give Steak Corral a try. I personally don't think you will be disappointed.

It is what it is. Nothing fancy, but food is good. Service, not so much. My daughter and I walked in, first time here. We didn't know whether to sit down or not. Nobody out front. Girl showed up, asked us if we were ready to order. I told her we've never been here before. She just said.. the menu is up there. She didn't give us any direction. We ordered with her, she finally told us to go down the salad bar and the cashier is at the end, when we sat down and they brought the plates, the baked potato was naked. I asked for condiments and server was like... it's over there and posted to an island. I said do we just get it ourselves? Yes. So my daughter and I walked up with our plates just expecting the bare minimum. Boy was I wrong! They had a rub of butter and sour cream with all the fixin's. Au jous, grilled onions, gravy, cheese, etc to top your steak. I love condiments!!! Though the only downside was that everything a had film over it like it's been sitting there awhile, we had gone at opening. Oh.... We ordered the 5 oz sirloin. Daughter hit salad bar and baked potato. I hit salad bar and onion rings. Lady at the front did tell us when we were ordering that if we wanted to go back to the salad bar, it would be $1.50 more, onion rings were crunchy! Just the way I like them! I put $$ in the tip jar for the cook. Go back for the food, not the serviceI

Hey Yelp fam!!! Paid a visit to our cousins in Whittier and She highly recommended this spot that she's been coming to for years it was her dad's spot. So I had high hopes! Lot of mixed reviews but this one is mine and I'm not pulling punches!!! Wouldn't do us no favors if I did. It's has a cool atmosphere indoor lots of old west decor pretty cool. Sort of a cafe style diner. You place your order when you walk in. There's an option to get a salad bar with your basic options they use iceberg lettuce and basic toppings not bad but difficult to serve yourself. If you order a baked potato like I did they have a potato topping bar also. I had the porterhouse steak medium. The steak was unevenly cooked some parts were medium rare while other parts were medium well and pretty tough to chew also. Friendly staff was a plus. Overall the atmosphere and service were good the food on the other hand needs a little refinement I believe the cooks need a bit of training.

There's not much more to say about Steak Corral other than that it is by far THE BEST steakhouse around for the price. Steak Corral has been providing the greater Whittier community with quality steaks and potatoes for decades. Steak Corral is a true American steakhouse classic. I regularly dine here and have never had a bad experience. Such a gem to have such a throwback in this chaotic world. If you dine here, ask for Liz. She's the best server I've ever had .

I recently visited this place after about 10yrs. I always thought this was a decent restaurant for price friendly steaks. I ordered the porterhouse medium. And i have to say i was not disappointed. Salad and drinks are self serve before you pay, then entrees are served directly at table. Self serve all your potatoes fixing. A different concept but it works. check out my plate.

Love the old school western looking steakhouse vibe. Like others on Yelp mention, like Sizzler from the 70's. Family run as well. Food - Both of our steaks had lots of grisle or hard pieces like fat. This was not good. Even though they were ordered "medium" they were tough. Even the filet Mignon was tough. We wanted to love it but didn't. Baked potatoes were good and we liked the salad bar style or adding toppings and the salad bar as well. Wanted to love it, but just can't today. Having said that, the prices for steak were very inexpensive so our expectations weren't too high. Probably good for budget friendly dining. Nice not to have to pay $50+ for a steak.

NEVER AGAIN! I've been coming here for 40 years with family and by myself. I always order grilled cheese sandwiches because they are the best. This last time I went to do a take out order, and when I got to the waiting area, I saw a chihuahua sitting in one of the chairs by the grill. During the waiting process, one of the workers occasionally came out of the kitchen to handle the dog and then go back into the kitchen, several times with food preparationimplements in his hands. Not only is it completely illegal to have pets in a restaurant, it's absolutely disgusting that someone who handles people's food is also playing with a dog. They have lost my future business, and the business of all who I have shared this with so far.

A good bang for your buck! The steak was delicious and the service was superb! Through the years I would pass by but it never caught my attention. The employees don't really pay attention to you, they really just socialize with each other. My mother was going to complain. But, they're all teenage girls and a few young adults, so she didn't. The food was good. I wish the salad bar was all you can eat. read more

The best way to put it is value, you get a lot of bang for your buck. Paid $25 for two people, steak was decent, baked beans delicious, salad fresh and they had a great atmosphere within the restaurant. Service was meh but I guess you get what you pay for(they weren't rude, it's mostly self serve). I'll definitely be coming back here. read more

One individual was extraordinarily rude and pushed her way through my family and I to refill drinks for a table. When I let her know she was being rude she told me I was rude for telling her that. Never want to go back to this place. I worked restaurants for 17 years and if I knew one team memeber was treating customers that way they would not be around much longer. read more

Me and the wife always come to this place!!!!! One of our favorite restaurants! When we go out to eat and find a spot , customer service is VERY important to us!!!!!!! We have no complaints whats so ever!! We love this place and the service is always on point!!!! Very kind and friendly staff!!! If you havent tried this place yet , you must! I enjoy coming to this place. It's decent and we love the cheese toast. They are a bit light on the steak cooking. We started asking for medium because the medium rare was pretty much rare. Anyhow, two things I saw today that made me a bit uneasy, first was the cook who had a pretty puffy beard with no hair net in the kitchen. The second thing was the other cook putting in the toast had no gloves. This is definitely a health violation and would not want this place to get a bad grade so I hope that management fixes this. read more

I've been to this place before and I feel like back then the food was better. I asked for the Small Chicken and the baked potato wasn't too hot, it didn't melt the butter well, the chicken was flavorless and hard. My girls got a cheeseburger and they were mostly all good except my oldest daughter, her patty was a bit burned. The only thing I thought was decent was the Top Sirloin dish, and the salad bar. The steak was pretty good which it's expected since they are a steak house and the veggies at the salad bar were fresh so that was great! Lastly, it was my friends birthday so I asked if they do anything for birthdays they claimed they did, just to let them know when to bring out the ice cream. We let them know before she finished her food but they took a while, we were already getting ready to leave when we saw them coming, such a disappointment I wanted to surprise her. Love coming to this place service is Good, good stakes and really great prices. I been coming here for a couple of times now. My wife used to come here when she was a little Girl and that's how I got introduced to this gem. I recommend this place the bake potatoes are great and I really like that you can create your own salad. Will definitely Will keep on coming back. This is the kind of place I would go with my mom and dad in the 70's and thought it was great. The food is really good for the price. I can't even go to the grocery store and get a ribeye steak for twelve dollars. You also get two side orders, I always get the baked potato and salad. Both you get to fix yourself.The cheese bread is also really good. If you want a fancy place this isn't for you but I think this place is better than most for the quality and price. read more

Nice place. Put your own salad and burger together. Small drink cups forced me to get up a lot for refills but I coulda use the exercise. Food was good. Service was very friendly and very present. Small place...little loud...but overall I liked it. Would definitely go again. read more

Best in town! I've been eating there regularly since the mid 1960s. A friend of mine who's an executive at a major construction company and whom I've known since 1960, told me that he was given a gift certificate to Ruth Cris Steak House but was thinking about the Steak Corral the whole time. He told me that his father would often stop off at the SC on his way home from work just for the blue cheese dressing. My son's favorite is the cheese toast, which is incredibly delicious. My favorite is the New York strip steak cooked rare. You'd be hard pressed to find a better steak house especially for the money. You can feed a family of four for around $60. The only other steak house in the area that's comparable is Clearman's Steak 'n Stein, but be prepared to spend about $50 per person. read more

Honestly guys, where else can you get a juicy RIB EYE steak for 9 bucks? Hello?! The steaks are very good, and I love the self serve bar...grilled onions, grilled peppers, au jus, all sorts of yummy sauces, and everything you need to stuff your baked potato with. You walk in, you look up at the menu, order, and grab a tray (The trays look older than me) The place could use a touch up here and there, but it definitely doesn't affect the quality of the food. Bring your kids! They have chicken tenders, cheeseburgers, grilled cheese...you know, all the junk the kids love :-) read more

They messed up a steak I ordered rare. :/ It was well done. A steak house has no business calling themselves a steak house if they can't even get a rare steak right. Everyone else's was cooked right though. Their ranch dressing is very good. read more

Very good steaks for cheap! I like coming to eat here with my parents, as we've been coming here for many years and has a nostalgic value to it. The food has always been delicious and filling, from the juicy steaks, to the bomb baked potato, and really good salad and garlic bread. Unfortunately, the one thing that is keeping me from giving me this place a 5-star rating is how the building is starting to show its age. It needs to be remodeled and cleaned BADLY. read more

First-time customer, last time customer! Restaurant is old and dirty and old old decor. Ordered the rib eye steak, it was gristle, fatty, and couldn't eat it because it was so tough...$12 for crap. Baked potato was undercooked, hard, and cold. Salad dressing was tasteless. Dont waste your money. A lot of the locals love it, but if you're used to good food don't eat here. read more

I have eaten at this location many times , this was the first time I was very disappointed . My daughters steak was ordered medium well , it was served to her red still bleeding - not medium well at all. As we asked for it to be cooked more , it was brought to her again it was still the same way she had gotten it first time. Although they did bring her a new fresh baked potatoe. The server did offer to send it back again but by that time the rest of us were just about done eating . So instead I was refunded for her meal but she was only able to eat the salad, baked potatoe & the cheese bread & NO steak she had lost her appetite by then . They were very busy also so didn't have seating available right away , had to wait just a few minutes to be seated after getting our salads, drinks and after paying . read more

My friend always chooses this place to go for his birthday since it's pretty good pricing for the amount and quality of steaks you're getting. Not exactly gourmet but usually not terrible. For the price you're paying, you really can't expect much. Service is usually pretty decent too. Though I really hate the lighting of the place. Always so dark and dingy. With that said, I have to knock two stars for this year's visit because even if the steaks are cheap, that does not mean you can be lax on cooking the steak. I ordered a medium rare rib-eye and the damn thing came well-done. Had to pour a ton of A1 sauce to get some flavor out of it but still not as good as a medium rare steak. If we didn't have somewhere to go right after this place for my friend's birthday, I would have sent the steak back. So beware: it's cheap for a reason but even they can screw it up sometimes. read more

Don't judge a book by it's cover.... My first time here. I admit... Walking in and looking around, looking at the menu.. I thought this place would be horrible. I was not expecting much. Very dark inside. Restaurant is very very outdated. I ordered the top sirloin (medium) with a baked potato & a salad. The salad was... Salad... No complaints there. Had a lemonade (good lemonade) Waited like 10 minutes and my steak and potato came. With cheese bread. I was surprised. My steak actually came MEDIUM like I asked. It was really tender and flavorful as well. Great steak. And my potato was good since they had a good topping bar for baked potatoes. My meal was like $11. Turned out to be pretty good after all. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars was the atmosphere. Really dead. If this place was updated and remodeled. It would be 5 stars for sure. They could still keep their western theme without the place looking so plain and depressing lol I will be back! read more

Me and my kids love this place. Service is good. I have had some bad service before but the food has has always kept me coming back. And they have new waitresses now so that's a pluse. We love the western decor and feel of the place is just so relaxing. With the exception of tonight's loud and drunk customers at the table next to us. The service is always good. It's funny because my own kids kept saying how loud they were. Other then that this place is great and a few bad people will not stop us from coming. Just hope we don't have to deal with that again. Thank you Steak Corral For the GREAT food and service tonight. read more

I finally tried the Steak Corral! It was good. You walk in and stay in line, the order taker has a pen and pad and while in line she takes your order. I chose the fillet mignon and two sides, mashed potatos and salad bar. It was like a cafeteria feel. You stay in line with a tray and get your salad. Make sure to load up because you only get one trip to the bar! Salad was good! Then came trying to find a table!!!! Standing there with a tray looking around and NO tables available!! It was embarrasing but we just stood til one table left, bus boy had attitude and did a quick wipe. So we ate and then came our food. My steak was cooked perfectly! Taters had no flavor :/ but toast was bomb!! So aside from the attitude from bus boy and looking lame waiting for a table, i gave them 3 stars. Make a reservation people!!! read more

Anyway, the guy said, "You must have got a tough cut" or "bad cut". I can't remember exactly the wording. But then he just shrugged me off. No offer to fix the problem. I was hungry, I hadn't had breakfast, and it was obvious the guy didnt care, so I just went back to my table and ate the rest of the bread and fixings while gnawing off any edible meat from my horrible steak. $26 for a sandwich and fries. Not willing to spend that much and hope I get a good cut of meat. I'm done.

Three years ago, we dined here and had an amazing experience, which is why we were excited to order again. Unfortunately, this meal was one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had. I ordered the pork ribs and fried shrimp. The ribs were extremely dry--so dry that they tasted like they had been cooked days earlier and reheated multiple times. They were nothing like the ribs I remembered from previous visits. After just a few bites, I started feeling uncomfortable. The fried shrimp was equally disappointing. It had almost no flavor at all and tasted bland and uninspired. My husband ordered the burger, which was advertised as a blend of Wagyu and regular beef. We were expecting something special, but the patty lacked flavor and the quality was disappointing. What surprised us even more was that we live only five minutes away, yet the burger bun arrived completely soggy. The packaging was also poor. The food came in cheap plastic containers without any ventilation holes. For fried foods especially, proper packaging is important to prevent steam from ruining the texture. It felt like very little care was put into preparing the order for delivery. To make matters worse, both my husband and I experienced stomach discomfort and excessive gas afterward, and we were still feeling it the next day. What makes this experience especially disappointing is that this was my husband's birthday dinner. I chose this restaurant because of the wonderful memories we had here years ago, but the food quality was nowhere near what we remembered. I genuinely cannot understand how food of this quality was considered acceptable to send out to customers. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I felt compelled to share it. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes a closer look at its food quality and delivery standards.

I came by this restaurant with a relative because he said he was a long time patron. I trusted his judgement, which was a mistake. I had higher expectations. I told him due to Covid and a possibility of unvaccinated maskless people inside, that I prefer dining outside. A closed inside environment is too risky at this time. The decor was OK but I feel people get caught up and impressed with a western themed restaurant and lower their expectations of the food and service. I work around TV and film sets all the time so I wasn't impressed. Anyway, they had an outdoor dining tent so we opted for the outside. As we walked in, I checked the menu hanging from the ceiling and placed my order for a top sirloin steak, mashed potatoes and onion rings. Once outside in the tent, there were plenty of tables and chairs but no condiments or place settings. My order came. Lousy waitress service. No bread or muffins on the table as you'd find in other restaurants. My plate came and it had two small pieces of steak, mashed potatoes, no butter or gravy. I had to ask again for those items. The onion rings came, there were a few and obviously burnt in a separate plate. Not sure why the waitress even brought them to the table. Either she thought I was gullible or stupid enough to accept them. I had to ask for another batch of not burned onion rings. I even had to wait after I ate my meal for service for an iced tea refill. The place is way overpriced for the quality and quantity of food you're served. Never coming back. Don't waste your time or money here. I had a bad experience at this place. There are better choices up and down the street. El Pollo Loco is across the street and Marie Calenders is east of there plus there are others nearby. read more

I recently had lunch at steak coral and was blown away by their delicious, perfectly cooked steak. The chefs at this establishment clearly know their way around a grill - every bite was succulent and flavorful. I especially enjoyed the tenderness of the meat, which melted in my mouth like butter. Their seasoning was spot on - not too much, but just enough to enhance the flavor of the steak. Beyond the taste, the prices at steak coral cannot be beat. For the quality of the meat and the attentive service, the prices were incredibly reasonable. It's hard to find such a combination of taste and value for your money. Overall, I would highly recommend steak coral for anyone looking for a great meal at a reasonable price. So my wife's been telling me about this "great" steak house for months and she wants to take me there. So one afternoon, my wife, my daughter and I jump into the car and head on over to Steak Corral. I have to admit, being from Texas, I loved the layout of this place. It had an authentic western vibe. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is warm. It took a little longer than normal for our food to arrive, I think it was around 30 minutes or so, which considering it wasn't really busy, was not very good. When the food arrived, it was good, not excellent, but slightly above average. But there were also several flies buzzing around, which really irritated me. STAY AWAY! Going against our better judgement once we walked in and saw the place we were skeptical about eating there still, but our kids were excited to eat here and it was them that would pay the price! The floors are completely filthy! But not only that, the spoons, forks and knives are also disgusting with pieces of food left in them, not just a couple but all of them! We literally washed them ourselves in the restroom. But what made this trip by far the worst is that the very next day my kids were throwing up and peeing out of their butts! In my opinion this place needs to be visited by health inspectors ASAP! I've been taking my family here for a couple of years now and I can say that's it's number one in our book. The steaks are big and not expensive at all. It's really affordable! I like the western look, the old west décor, and the simplicity of dining. I kind of feel like I just pulled off somewhere without a name on Route 66 and ordered a much needed meal. No matter I order fries or potato, I get a lot and I'm full when I leave. I'll keep coming back as long as the door is open. read more
