We literally waited in line at 9:45 pm for 15 min behind a truck and trailer that appears was just sitting there. We finally drove around to the front passing the drive through where another truck and trailer was sitting. My husband tried to go in but the dining room was closed. We got back in line now behind the same truck and trailer plus another car. We called the store and let them know we had sat behind for over 15 min with no movement and within a few seconds the truck moved forward behind the other truck trailer where they both sat for another 12 min before the first truck & trailer moved forward. Finally after another few min the first truck moved forward and sat there. They finally came out and brought ONE bag to the first truck but returned back to the store and then handed the 2nd truck ONE bag! A total of 30 min for these TWO trucks and only ONE bag was given to them. The car in front of us went and got one thing and then finally it was our turn at the drive thru. There was a line up of about 5-6 milkshakes that we could see thru the window. Very very very frustrating and inefficient. The service was slow and there were no other cars in line. The hamburger tasted like it had been sitting under a heat light for days. Super dry, cheese looked old, bun was stale. The Steak 'n Shake franchise is notorious for terrible service and this location is no exception. The garlic parmesan fries were tasty, though. I went here for dinner with my boyfriend's family and three of them ordered chicken tenders. Well, they were running out of chicken tenders and our waitress came back to say that someone else should pick again. It happens, right? But in the back of my head I'm thinking "wait, I got fried chicken on my salad..." but figured that it was different or something. Our waitress comes back with all our plates and THEN says "pick something else off the kids menu, there weren't enough chicken tenders" I ACCIDENTALLY STOLE MY BOYFRIEND'S NEPHEW'S CHICKEN TENDERS. They didn't blame me (how was I supposed to know to tell her grilled chicken would be lovely) but I felt bad. Overall, I really don't recommend it. The price is ok, but..not worth it IMO. read more

I am very easy to please when it comes to fries, but these were a disgrace. Bacon Double Cheeseburger was depressingly smushed and the thin patties were leathery & overcooked. Service: Really bad. Did not bother to confirm order, which made me a little leery, and sure enough she got the order wrong. I circled the building and came back to the window and when I told her that we were missing a large fry, she said "OK, that'll be $2.71". No apology. Not even a smile. Did not try to work with me. Excellent burger and fries. I ordered the original double and fries for $3.99 and a milkshake. The milkshakes are 1/2 price from 2-5 weekdays. Service was good. I would have given this place 4 stars if the restaurant was clean. Overall the restaurant was filthy. The entire place smelled of old mop water. The floors were black with filth... Don't want to even explain the smell in the bathroom. Anyway, this restaurant would be a great place to grab a bite to eat if they would clean the place up a bit. If I could give "zero" stars, I would! My mom and I went thru the drive-thru today, Thursday, April 5, at about 2:30 pm. There were 2 cars ahead of us. We sat for about 10 minutes, long enough for the guy in front of us to get tired of waiting and leave. So this makes us # 2 in line. After about another 10 minutes the car in front of us leaves. So we're at the window and the guy quotes me a price which is more than what he had told us when we ordered. He gave us the cost of the order for the guy who got tired of waiting. So he gets our amount right, I pay him, and it is probably another 15 minutes at the window waiting for 2 single burgers, 1 fry, and 2 drinks! We FINALLY get our food and pull into a parking space to eat. The so-called burger on my sandwich wasn't even lukewarm, it was COLD. Plus all I could really taste was the lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard. The beef pattie was so thin, you could almost see through it! I had also asked for very little mustard on both of our sandwiches, and it was running off the bun there was so much mustard. I do not understand how getting something as simple as a hamburger, fries and a drink, can be screwed up. It's not rocket science. One person takes the order, via computer, and another supposedly fulfills the order. I cannot imagine these people being able to work anywhere where perhaps a person's life is dependent on doing something right. If you can't get a simple hamburger, fries and drink right and to the customer while it is still warm, please don't venture into a career where doing something right the first time, is really important! Had I not had my 89 year old mother with me, I would have taken our order back inside and demanded they give me a sandwich that was edible. I ordered the buttered burger (don't know the exact name) but it didn't have a lot of taste I had to use the seasoning that they had placed out to give it any bit of taste and I got the Cajun seasoned frys which I payed extra for and they also had no taste till I put the seasoning on it and the seasoning was practically crab seasoning that you get on crab chips so the food wasn't terrible and it was also very affordable so if you are trying to save money and have a decent meal than this isn't a bad place too go but if your wanting an amazing meal this place is not made for it also the waiters were sorta rude and seemed like they wanted nothing to do with us read more

My family came into this establishment and stood at the "Wait To Be Seated" sign for over 10 minutes and no one ever came to seat us. There were plenty of open tables, but there appeared to be only 2 waiters. We saw 3 more employees behind a wall cooking and/or just talking. A family that finished their dinner stood over 5 minutes at the cash register waiting on someone to come take their money. My family and I ended up walking out after both the waiters saw us at different times, but each time they just looked away to avoid eye contact. I don't necessarily blame the waiters, even though there were plenty of tables available, it's obvious they were understaffed and that's a management issue. We came into steak and shake hoping for a quick bite. Our first core should of been the line, but figured it was just busy. After 15 minutes we were seated and promptly attended to by our waiter. He warned us the kitchen was running a bit slow so I admit it's on us for being folks and waiting. The water was great, a tall young fellow that was great at keeping up with our drinks and stopping by to again apologize for the delays. Around 45 minutes later we got our burgers. It was like licking a salt shaker, the mushrooms seemed to be the root of it but certainly not entirely too blame. One of my companions that had the sliders also complained of the sale flavor and he had no mushrooms.
