We went there for dinner one night and got a burger and bacon cheese fries and while that was done right most of the order was not to the point where there were 7 of us and only 3 of us got the right orders so we went back to address the issue and they acted like it was our issue but corrected it and they came back and they still messed up not worth going back a second time we ate what we could and got some food from another place. Very disappointed. I tried the triple burger and my wife had the Prime burger. Both lacked any flavor, and I'm questioning if they were really beef burgers. The french frys portion we were served, if combined, may have equaled a small order at McDonalds. But that is not the worst part. This was terrible. I went through the drive through. I was the only car in line and there were none in the drive though. I go to this Steak and Shake all the time thru the drive thru and there are two reasons I didn't give them 5 stars. First they are not consistent with their online time schedule. On more than one occasion I've driven up when on Google it said it would close later and it was already closed. Second their onion rings are really really greasy. The only other negative thing on the occasions my arthritis is real bad and I send in my daughter she has trouble getting helped but most of the drive thru are good about handing drinks out carefully to me. read more

Not sure what the prior reviewers experience was but obviously went on a bad day. We had great service. And when we arrived at 10:45 am, I was pleasantly surprised that we could order off the breakfast or lunch menu which made my group very happy as three of us wanted breakfast and one a cheeseburger. The breakfast was great and its so reasonable, especially on kids meals, you can't go wrong. Our drinks stayed filled. We only had one hiccup as the waitress must have misunderstood me on a couple ordered items but she quickly corrected it, it was not a big deal. This location was SMELLY as you walk in (bad body odor). My family waited 15 min for anyone to help and seat us, still didn't get one hello from any 1 of the 5-6 employees seen. My mother had finally spotted a manager and decided to approach him to see why it might be taking so long. He replied with "well... we are closed, but, we can't turn you away, so..." (as the cafe has a few bigger tables of people still eating). I could have understood- IF we had at least been greeted and someone mentioned a closing time. In my opinion, its pretty obvious no one comes into a restaurant just to hang out at the front to watch you close. On a side note, of course google isnt always right, but it shows this location is open 24 hrs. This place is just horrible! My husband and I went there for a quick lunch before shopping, just horrible. New employee took our order without proper training, completely messed our order up and barely spoke English. We had to repeat our order multiple times. Once the order was placed when the food arrived it was wrong. Yikes. What a complete train wreck. Where do I begin. Let's start with the waitress. She was more concerned with chatting with the cook to wait. She'd take an order and abandon the table to chat, bus, or hide. She had everyone else getting drinks and food. You'd be lucky to get a drink more than a few minutes before the meal. That's the only reason it's a 2 star. After half my group abandoned a hour and a half of waiting for their food we hoped in the car to watch from outside. Sure enough the waitress that was our was hiding behind the wall chatting and flirting with a cook again. The poor manager was running around trying to serve and help with complaints. There were eight in our group, we were looking forward to eating here after leaving the park. 1. Waited for over 20 minutes to be seated. Three smaller groups that came in after us were seated before us. 2. While waiting we watched a lady in blue (manager?) handle money turn and handle the silverware and napkins without washing hands. 3. Waitress was not friendly. 4. Got our drinks waitress said they had no straws. The plastic cups rims were all chipped. We didn't want to put our mouths on rims in those bad conditions. However all the other waitresses had straws so we got straws from another waitress and she said, "oh we have straws." ??? 5. Waitress never ask if we needed refills. We did!! I went to fountain, manager and two waitresses standing there talking. I ask for a refill and could we get water refills at our table? I said, "I don't want to sound rude the service has been horrible we had" manager interrupted me and said, we are short staff today and this is your waitresses third day to work here. Oh and the water refills was flat sprite. NASTY!!! 6. I had to go get our silverware and napkins. 7. We ask for shakes and waitress said it's going to be a long wait there are orders before you. Almost like she was trying to talk us out of ordering. We ordered, twenty mins. later we got warm runny shakes that got thrown away cause they were nasty. 8. My husband paid the food ticket. Our friend went to pay the ticket for the shakes and it was on a ticket with someone else's food. My husband had to go prove he had already paid for our food. 9. The food was good but, that doesn't make up for the BAD SERVICE!!! 10. As the manager passed our table she did say, "sorry" without stopping for a second to make eye contact. 11. We were told we couldn't have a child's size shake, only a large. Well, okay, fine, make us pay for more than we want. But our vanilla shake had chunks of something (we are hoping & praying it was just m & m's??). But not what you want to find at the bottom of your drink. And we couldn't drink the water - it smelled and tasted lVERY strongly of some kind of cleaner or chemical. We have been to this steak and shake 3 times all with awful endings! The most recent really being the worst and ensuring we will never be back! When we got there we waited for 15 minutes and no one ever came to seat us (even though there were 6 open tables) we finally decided to take matters into our own hands and just pick a booth ourselves. Then it was another wait to get a server to acknowledge us. Once someone did come by we gave our full order all at once (even though we never received kids menus) It was 1 hour before we got our drinks!!!!!!!!!! And our food came shortly after that! From start to finish we were in steak and shake for 1.5 hours with 2 adults and 2 kids... it was a total mess! We had to go find our own silverware, menus, seat ourselves, ask for our ticket and it seemed as if the waitress was just nonchalant and even irratated that they were busy (ish) The manager was only working the register and never actually went out to seat people who were waiting for a super long time! We saw more than 1 party get up and leave! Over all it was just a mess of being slow and rude. I would think under staffed was the issue but there was 7 people out in the floor but only 2 servers.
