We were just ordering a quick dinner to go but decided to order inside after being in the car most of the day. Parking is plentiful, and you can park right next to the building. Inside looked clean and bright. There was no line at the counter. We picked up a menu from the side of the counter as the hostess didn't look at us again after we said we were ordering to go. We decided what we wanted quickly and paid. Watching the kitchen and dining area showed they had more than enough staff on hand. The restaurant was no more than half full. The empty tables were clean, and as customers left, the table was cleaned quickly, although only one person seemed to be doing all this. Most of the wait staff was standing around in the back. The kitchen staff was bustling, and one person seemed to be in charge. There was a lull at one point where nothing was on the grill, no one was near it, and we had not received our order yet. Still, it looked like orders were coming out in a timely manner. Ours came out in about 15 minutes. The Cajun burger was cooked properly, but the Cajun seasoning was smeared all over the bun, including the outside. They use some sort of oil/ margarine base to carry the seasoning. Opening the wrapper was a mess as the seasoning was everywhere. The regular steak burger was cooked properly and the additions seemed fresh and flavorful. The fries are bland as they have almost no salt. I'm not a big fan of salt, but this was too little for me. This was an average hamburger experience with some minor things taking it down a notch. read more

I've eaten at Steak N Shake for years and have LOVED it as a restaurant. Today my fiancé and I decided to go for our date and it was a rough experience. We ordered our food and then sat down. I got up to ask the woman where the straws were and she rudely snapped "They're behind you". I thanked her and sat back down. My fiancé (who went to the restroom) came back and let me know that the restroom was one of the nastiest he has seen in a long time. He said that someone has used one of the stalls and did not flush and that it had caused a terrible stench in the whole restroom. The inside is dilapidated, the staff are moping around like they don't want to be there, and the food was bland. Do not waste your time here. read more

Went here to eat with my daughter. Seated right away and ordered food within the first 5 minutes there. It was all down hill from there. The waitress never came by to check on us even though we waited 30 minutes for our food. We finally decided to leave. The waitress did not even speak to us even though she saw us get up and walk to the counter. I explained to the manger we were leaving because we still did not have food. I offered to pay for our drinks. The manager apologized and said they got hit at once. Ummmmm, no they did not! There were more empty tables than full when we walked in. I could see the grille from my seat. There was no sense of urgency or organization; that was the problem. Further, no one was busing empty tables. There is no pride in ownership! The service was not great. The place wasnt that busy at the time and the servers seemed more preoccupied talking in the back than waiting on customers. Another family got up and left while we were there bc no one even spoke to them for over 10 minutes. We did not get refills nor after asking twice (two different servers)I never got what I ordered in the beginning of my order. Needs customer service improvement. Food wasnt bad. read more

I just left this location with lunch, simple order, hamburger and fry. Once again I got it home and burger was made wrong. I ask for mayo, ketchup and lettuce. Easy burger. I've lived in this area for about 20 years and visited this location many times before. The last 3 visits have been slow, slow, slow, slow....did I say slow?? Very slow. I thought that our server was the only one working since I seen her at the register several times but as we were leaving there was 2 additional servers standing in the corner talking and laughing. My husband walked up to the counter to attempt to get some kind of service for to go drinks. One of the young ladies looked at him but would not exit her conversation to acknowledge him until he spoke to her. We were never asked if we needed anything after our food was delivered, no refills or desert options were offered. We finally gave up and left. I can honestly say after this visit we will not return there until some serious changes occur. I'd rather make the burger at home than to be ignored. read more

This location used to be good, but it has steadily declined over the past few years. It took a full ten minutes for the guy (I wondered why it took her so long since this location is only 5 minutes from my house) to take an order for two people... just two meals, and he left off the cheese for my fries. I got the Jalapeño Crunch burger? ...with fries. The fries were cold and hard, and the burger was thrown together as sloppily as humanly possible, with all the jalapeños on about one quarter of the burger and the sauce on a different quarter... besides being colder than the fries. My wife's food was about the same. We are the type of people who normally don't complain about food unless we just cannot eat it. Needless to say, I'm not going there again, unless I can eat inside and complain about stuff on the spot. I hope the management over this location looks at these reviews. read more

I despise this particular steak and shake. Our waitress- taylor-had five large tables and the other employees and manager watched her work. My group waited 15 minutes to order food and drink. I then waited 15 minutes after half our tables food came to speak to the manager. I told him I didn't want my food but to bring my families. I simply refuse to support someone that refused to help me. My food magically appeared then but he took my food away from the rest and "disposed" of it. He did come back 15 minutes later and offered to pay half the check. This happened as he saw me typing this review. I hope that I get a response from someone that supervises the Fort Oglethorpe location. I manage several employees and if they had this large of a problem working together, I would like to know. Please improve your service so I can support your restaurant. read more

Did Ruby Falls and Point Park that morning, and needed a quick meal as we needed to get on the road back to Ohio. We love Steak N Shake, and this one did not disappoint. Awesome food, quick service, we loved it all. This was a very busy location - even at 2pm the place was packed and more people coming in all the time. Would highly recommend it! read more

The restaurant is a typical diner inside. Service at tables, and you pay at the front. Very crowded, and the restaurant is kept at very cold temperatures. We had to go out to the car to get our coats. Milkshakes were great. I had fries with a cheese sauce, and I enjoyed the fries quite a bit. They weren't very warm by the time they got to the table, and nor was the burger. My husband's fries were actually too heavily salted. Also, burgers seemed a tad overcooked, but we're okay. Best part was definitely the shakes. We both had strawberry. Server was very nice and friendly, despite being at work on Christmas evening. The restaurant was also fairly clean. They should just make it a little warmer! read more

I'm pretty disappointed in steak and shake. The last couple of times I've went they have been super super slow and the food/drinks I get are not the best. I go here very regularly and usually it's great, but tonight really aggravated me. I got there after 12 so I will cut some slack but there were only 2 cars in front of me and I sat in the drive thru over 20 minutes for them to both be handed 1 bag and drink each. And my milkshake was not the one I requested. Just really not happy with the service tonight. read more

This was probably the worst visit I've ever had here. My chicken melt was small and put together very sloppy. I didn't get one refill on my water, not even asked if I'd like one. My boyfriend and brother waited 15 minutes for a refill and that was the only one they got. Our waitress sat at the bar with her boyfriend or whatever the whole time. Four more customers walked in and she ignored them completely. Nothing was said about her "friend" until we brought it to the manager's attention and even then the guy only went outside and didn't leave. After we left he walked right back in. We went here expecting a quick meal on the way back from a trip and stayed in for an hour and a half. The waitress was rude but she did keep drinks filled and the food was delicious. We ordered milkshakes after our meal so the waitress took back our meal ticket to add the shakes and she never gave us the ticket back so we waited while she was standing chatting to a customer. We then went up to pay to get them to search up our order and no one came up to work the register, a worker even came up to the register then left without saying anything to us. So another customer at the bar stools asked a worker of someone was working the register so she could order a milkshake so an employee came up and took their order before she would take ours. We waited a total of 10 minutes just waiting on them. We plan to never eat at this establishment again. read more

We walked in and waited 10 minutes to be seated because all of the tables were dirty. The server said it was because they had no one to wash dishes and couldn't bus tables. As a result, the place was a mess with trash all over the floor and and every table covered in dirty dishes. Quite unappetizing. read more

Hadn't been to Steak n Shake in awhile so decide to stop in for a quick bite to eat after my son's open house at high school. Bad mistake. I was soon reminded as to why its been so long since we've ate there. It was anything but a "quick" bite to eat. First off...when we got there at 8:00 p.m...even though there were plenty of available tables our server seated us at a booth where the table had to be wiped down. I overlooked it because we were both starving...and didn't wanna have to go someplace else. Server took our order. We ordered the Cajun burger combo, chicken finger combo...and two milkshakes. 15 minutes went by...then 25...still no food. All the while there were servers just standing around doing nothing. I was frustrated. 35 minutes went by and then 45 minutes...still no food. At this point I could hear the servers talking to the cook. There must have been some kind of problem going on, because I could see the look of disgust on one servers face. All the time my son and I had been there...not one time did our server come.by and ask if we needed anything...or apologize for the long wait. Finally, our server came by...and I asked how long our food would be...because we had been waiting almost an hour. Still no apology. We got our food about 5 minutes after that...at 9:00 p.m...but no milkshakes. Had to ask for them again. The food was not worth the long wait. My chicken tenders looked to be about the size of a chicken mcnugget. I'm like...really...I waited an hour for this? We ate our dinner and got up to pay. Still no apology from the manager or anyone for that matter for our long wait. We will not be returning unless this place has major improvements. read more

This place is a nightmare. The service is terrible. It took three times with three different servers to order two unsweetened ice teas and one sweetened. We should have left at that time but felt sorry for the server and stayed. Needless to say when we placed our order (again with three different people) the orders were incorrect. Someone from the kitchen had to return to our table to confirm our order for salad and hamburgers. Thank Goodness we did not order anything complicated. After 1-1/2 hours we received our check before we finished receiving our meals. After paying we received another check for the same amount. Trying to discuss it with a belligerent manager who constantly interrupted me and was upset we asked for him I slipped and used a cuss word. He promptly threw us out and told us to never return, lol as if that was going to happen. Returning home I noticed a strong smell on my clothes and hair. My entire body smelled like month old grease. Our family frequently visited this location for years, however Steak n' Shake and this particular location seems to be in a decline. In the past couple of years this location has had several sub-par health reviews which kept us away, although we decided to give it a second chance with better health reviews about two months ago. We walked in and were seated immediately. We sat for thirty minutes and was never asked for our order so we got up and left. Last week my kids wanted to go there again so I agreed considering the parking lot was half full. We walked in and stood waiting to be seated for about ten minutes when there were several tables open. We were seated and gave our order soon thereafter. The waitress brought our drinks about fifteen minutes later. I noticed that nearly everyone in the restaurant was waiting for their food. The table next to us was starting to loudly question the wait staff about their wait. The restaurant was well staffed but seemed to be very inefficient. Someone parked the table clean up cart with a nasty smelling garbage can right behind our table and left it there the whole time. We finally received our food fifty minutes after arriving. Two out of three orders was wrong. The manager brought our correct order back after a short wait and removed one of the $2 kids meals from the ticket for the inconvenience. Our total visit lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes and this was our last Steak n' Shake experience. read more

We were so pleased today with our sever! She made sure our order came out right (server's job since their's are the last eyes between the cook and the customer) which was such a pleasant change from some other servers we have had! As a former restaurant owner, she is top notch Steak and Shake! Too bad you can't clone her! Haven't always had the best luck with some of the things we ordered (mini sized pancakes at full price :-(.. but may be hopeful for future visits. Thanks Steak and Shake for training a great server! Something has happened here! This steak & shake used to be great, but this time we waited 45 minutes and were served cold burgers. We ordered just regular burger & fries, the server said "I'm not sure why the kitchen is so slow today". I was also served cold coffee in a sticky cup, which the server remade for me after I had to walk to the counter to ask. They were not crowded- only 3 other tables were there at this time. Wanted some chili 5 way, BIG mistake. Had a bad feeling when I saw how dirty the restaurant was. Finally got seated and ordered. I ordered my chili 5 way and husband ordered a burger, fries and chili. 20 minutes later, they brought his burger and fries (no chili) and informed me they were out of spaghetti for the 5 way and did I want something else. My husband's food was already cold when he got it and when he took the top of the bun off the fix his burger, it only had half a patty on it! We just got up and left. Drove up to the Steak n Shake on Gunbarrel. Guess what they were out of? Spaghetti. I have to say the waitstaff was great at both locations, doing the best they could. Visited this location last night at 10pm. We were not greeted or spoke to so we sat ourselves. There were 3 other tables occupied. After 10 minutes we got up and got our own menus. After we decided what we wanted I had to walk up to the counter and ask the grill cook if someone could come take our order. He yelled at a young lady that walked up and said "what do y'all need?"...I said we would like to place our order she said hold on let me find somebody else. We sat there another 10 mins. Finally I saw the manager walk by (I noticed he had on the slacks with a solid blue shirt on) I called him over and his customer service etiquette was a negative 20. He said "what do you want?" I repeated to him we need to place our order, his reply was hold on let me find somebody. I frankly said you can't right down our order. He took our food order and never asked for a drink order. The other tables were out of drinks, people complaining and no employees! Our food was delivered to another table and it was sat down and left before a waitress came back and picked it up and brought it to our table. It was a total disaster.
