There were about 10 or more cars in the drive through and we sat in the same spot for 10 minutes so we decided to go in. Walking in there were three employees, working one of which was sitting at the counter. I asked the manager if I could order inside and her reply was "huh" so I repeated and she just stuck her finger up and said "just wait" the guy at the counter finally answered for her saying "sure you can order in here" I finally just left since no one came over to take my order. Where's the since of urgency for all your customers??? These specific employees weren't even helping with drive through, just talking amongst themselves. Disgraceful. read more

He was courteous, attentive, and he didn't miss a beat in spite of how busy they were... not to mention the fact that I was sitting at the corner counter seat which was no where near his normal service area. reat job, Gary!! read more

Don't be in a hurry at this "fast food" establishment, they aren't fast and not really friendly. We ordered to go, since we were traveling. The cashier was not a happy camper, she had no problem letting the customers, her coworkers or anyone in ear shot of her. She said several times, "I'm already suppose to be off, I'm ready to leave, someone going to get the F-C- up here and help...." Me and my best friend went through the drive in after midnight and we ordered two original double and cheeses and fries. Hers without mustard onions and mine without tomatos. When we finally got our food after 10 minutes of sitting in the drive thru, our fries were cold and had no flavor. And when we got home to eat our burgers her burger had mustard and diced tomatoes and barely any lettuce. Mine didn't have onions on it. I don't know if it's just because it was late at night but I would at least my fries to be hot. read more

Passed by all the other restaurants to go to this joint on the way to the Fox Theater. Spent $50 on food that gave five people terrible stomach cramps and indigestion. Sat in the Fox feeling like we had lumps of crud in our bellies. In hindsight we would have been better off eating the candy from the pockets of the homeless in Atlanta, and washed it down the questionable yellow liquid in the bottle sitting next to them. Don't ever go through the drive thru around dinner time or at night unless you like sitting in your car for 30 minutes. Much better service inside (and quicker). Food here is so good!! This was my first time here. I had the mushroom steak burger and hazelnut chocolate shake. Delish! My dad had the same burger and a brownie shake. We immediately searched for a location near us (because we were visiting out of town) and found one nearby. Looking forward to going again. Hope it is as delicious as this one! read more

There is nothing spectacular about this place, but I love it anyway. Drivethru service is slow, but it's only because they are actually cooking what you ordered AFTER you ordered it. Worth the wait. Probably the best fast food burger around, similar to Five Guys, but with a drivethru. read more

Had terrible serviced few years ago, recently though about going back there. But after seeing recent reviews, forget it! Still same poor service! I guess, they still open because nearby Interstate 85 and the poor hungry travelers that experience good service from other Stake and Shake don't know! As we walked in the door we were greeted by a well dressed (assuming a manager) man that said how many people? Four we reply. As the man points to four open booths he walks away; assuming preparing the table for us to sit at. A few minutes go by and another woman (a waitress) asked us how many, again we reply four. She says it will be a few minutes, ma'am there are four open booths, they are all broken she says, ma'am that one was just cleaned up...never mind I say, we leave and we will never go back! Love this place and our favorite waiter Zack!!! He's always on top of things. But tonight we had a different person. We asked for zack and her exact words were "well I can but I'd be losing a table and losing money".... really?????? We said ok and carried on with her. She took our order and that was it. My wife and I had never been to a Steak 'n Shake before if you can believe it. So, we decided to frequent this location. We walked in and waited to be seated (as the sign stated to "please wait to be seated"). We waited a good 3-4 minutes and it was dead. Finally, the cashier noticed us and said we could sit where we liked. We sat down and there was still a wait to get menus. Initially, I'm not impressed with the customer service but I will say that the young girl who was our waitress was very pleasant and did a great job as our waitress. I give her props. As for the food, my thought is "meh" and it gave me a fun experience on the toilet when I got home too. Good Times. The best way to describe this place is that it's cheap Diner/Short Order Cook food. To be honest, if I'm going to order food like this, I'd rather just go to Waffle House. It's not at the top of my list of places to go. That's for sure. read more

My wife and I go here pretty regularly because we live in the community just behind it and enjoy walking over. That being the case, wee probably wouldn't go nearly as often if we lived any further. The food is good and their desserts taste great. However, the service itself is rarely anything spectacular. One thing we have learned is to ask for the bill as soon as you have decided you will not be ordering anything else. My husband and I went thru the drive thru last night. We will NEVER go back to Steak 'n Shake's drive thru again! It was terrible service. First, it took twice as long as it should have to place the order because there was so much 'dead air'.... I'd say what I wanted and there would be no response. And all we ordered were 2 combos and 2 milkshakes. Nothing else! Finally got that done then it took almost 10 minutes to get up to the window. So the girl handed us our shakes and I was looking into the window watching for the next thing she was going to hand me and some guy stuck his head out the window (I presume the person taking the orders as he had a headset and sounded the same) and asked if he could help me. I said noooo with a puzzled look on my face.... and he said are you ok? I said yes, I'm fine. Where did that come from? He said you just looked... something or other and that fast he was gone and literally goofing off with his coworkers. Which explained why stuff was taking so long. Pathetic customer service and work ethic. Beyond pathetic and a serious lack of respect. So when she handed us our Cherry Limeades, there was liquid all over the outside. So I had to ask for napkins to wipe that off since I wasn't about to put those in the cup holders of my brand new truck. Then we had to ask for ketchup and mayo and while I was reaching for the bag she was handing me and that got pulled back inside the window before I could grab it while she went and got ketchup and actually made up the cups with mayo in them. (Seriously, they don't have some made up on hand????) So after we got over all that, I pulled forward (FINALLY!) and checked the bag and one of the mayo's didn't even have a lid on it. It was just tossed in the bag with no lid. NO FLIPPLIN' LID. And the burgers looked like someone sat on them. Nope. Never again. Ever. read more
