If you like having people complain about giving them your hard earned money and then ignore you then this is the perfect place for you. The guest kiosk is a horrible idea. This just insures that every staff member doesn't have to help, communicate with or even acknowledge anyone walking in the door. Oh man - I've been eating at this place since the 90's. It makes me feel old going back there - the menu has gotten much more creative over the year, but at the core nothing has changed. It's steak burgers and shakes made by the local high-school seniors. That's not a bad thing. It's more of a staple or rite of passage. The food is cheap and the restaurant is worn out. Two of the worst dining experiences of my life. Tried it twice when we moved to Palm Coast two years ago. First time had drinks with in 10 minutes, 45 minutes later we had no food and asked waitress to find out what's going on. She said there was a big party in front of us and the kitchen was backed up. We told her we were here at least 20 minutes before the big party. Manager finally came over and told us they lost our order, the truth finally came out. However, she said we could order again but we would have to wait our turn in the kitchen for our order to come out there were orders in front of us and she cannot put us to the front of anyone else's orders. Offered us a shake while waiting, we said no thank you, we want dinner. We left hungry and went to Sonny's and had a great meal. The second time we went to steak and shake about two months later sat for 12 minutes without drinks. I saw the same manager we had a couple months ago up at the front counter with a couple waitresses looking at pictures on a cell phone. I blew my top I told her off and we never went back. However, it is a good place to get burgers and fries and the crowds this place gets is a testament to their popularity. They would call me in and send me home an hour later and my gas costs more than minimum wage for an hour. The food is okay depending on what you get. Where I'm from Steak 'n Shake doesn't exist so I found this place to be amazing. Their milkshakes are by far the best milkshakes I've ever had hands down. The mint Oreo is my favorite, and you can tell they use real ice cream each time. The only downside is the service and drive thru is VERY slow. I find myself waiting over 15 minutes with only 4-5 cars in-front of me in the drive thru line when all I'm ordering is a milkshake. She was the most friendliest person I've met during my steak & shake experience. The food is so much better than Mickey D's or BK. Burgers and shoestring fries are fresh and very delicious (for a fast good joint) & best part is...everything on the menu is $5.49 or less with most of the menu coming in at $4!!!! The milkshakes are by far the best...a mix variety of flavors to choose from and depending who your server is makes a big difference in quality of Shake.
