Pros: - Chicken was tender and flavorful. - Host was friendly. - Value meals offered were a nice selection. - Value meal cost were reasonable. - location was easy to get to from I-95. Cons: - Waiter was too busy complaining about other customers than attend to us. - Fries were cold. - The creole mustard tasted like honey mustard. - Flatbread was overcooked and dry. - Our table was sticky and should have been wiped down better. - I was given tartar sauce and an unidentifiable sauce instead of blue cheese dressing. We wanted something simple and easy for dinner with good food. The diner is like your typical diner, it has specials on the board and an extensive menu that serves breakfast all day. It's not super fancy or noisy. We were greeted immediately upon entering and seated quickly. Our waiter was the nicest person and he was funny. He sings while he's doing things which is hilarious and lovely. We all ordered a little something different and each of us enjoyed our meals. The portions are large and filling. We're visiting from Arizona. Came in for breakfast. We had a wonderful time. Everything was delicious. The salt as cakey because of the humidity. An easy fix for this is to add rice to the salt shaker. Host and our server April were so kind and full of hospitality. I loved the hash browns and my daughter raved about the waffles but honestly everything was good! The huevos rancheros were not traditional but instead large flour tortillas deep fried and topped as nachos with an egg which I loved the take on this dish. We went to Metro Diner for breakfast on Mother's Day, we got a table outside in their covered dining section. Our server Renee was terrific! She moved quickly, very knowledgeable and knows the menu inside and out. My husband ordered sausage gravy and biscuits which comes with 2 eggs and home fries and coffee. I ordered the chicken and waffles (knowing full well I would be taking most of it home since it is such a large portion). They were quite busy but moving quickly. Our food was brought out in about 15 minutes which was great since they were so busy and I ordered the fried chicken which takes time. The chicken was so juicy, crispy and tender, the waffle had a crunch on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My husband said the sausage gravy was ok but really liked the biscuits, eggs and home fries. The outdoor dining was very nice and the weather was warm and sunny. The meat lovers omelette is packed with meat. The omelette was a nice color and cooked perfectly, not crispy or burned like many other places. The shrimp and grits came out with a very genourous portion. However the sauce lacked depth and complexity. The fish and chips were a very generous portion of both fish and fries. The fries were delicious. The fish was a little fishier than I'm accustomed to with fish and chips. Though I'm more sensitive to fishy flavors than most people. The ribs were firm and the sauce was bland. I enjoyed the cole slaw because it was not sweet. I would not order the ribs again. The fries are delicious and the portions are very generous. I have start out by being super thankful we have this place! Second thanks is that they offer FAMILY MEALS that are a GOOD VALUE! We got the 12 piece fried chicken meal with 2 sides and it was around $50 with tax. We got green beans that were perfectly cooked. They had a bit of crunch with a light butter. Simple plain and delicious! The mashed potatoes were good, but the gravy wasn't my favorite. The potatoes were very good without the gravy! No issues! The chicken was traditional southern fried perfection! The crust was crunchy and not over seasoned. This meal fed 2 adult's, one teen, and a child. There was a serving leftover for lunch the next day, but 4 adults would definitely devoure the entire amount. Im always on the lookout for something good on busy nights and Metro Dinner was definitely better than Bob Evans. The only complaint is the parking lot is a bit chaotic. read more

Wr have tried this particular location on more than one occasion and again and again they fail in the service department, it has nothing to do with the wait staff who are all for the most part friendly or how busy or not busy the dining room is, no it is the kitchen! Most things on the menu are short order and should never take as long as they do, there are usually multiple people working in the kitchen and it still manages to take them forever to make a sandwich and fries! Stopped here for lunch while visiting Palm Coast. The restaurant is located in a strip mall with lots of parking available. Everything was clean and the service was good. We did get placed next to the kitchen and it was pretty loud. It didn't bother us that much, but others it may. Three of us went with breakfast options: a meat lovers omelet and then two meat lovers breakfast bowls and a waffle. The omelet and bowls were delicious - perfect amount of meat to egg ratio. Came here on a Saturday around 12pm, not too crowded. We used the online waitlist so only had to wait a couple of minutes to be seated. Our waiter was so sweet, we didn't get the best seat in the house as we were seated right by the bathroom. Yet, the food and service made up for it. The food came out pretty quick. In our party we had the San Francisco Egg Benedict, Steak and Scramble Bowl with fruit bowl and the Spicy Chicken Biscuit with fruit bowl. Everything was delicious! The scramble had great flavor and the steak was cooked well done as default. The Egg Benedict was flavorful and the fruit bowl was fresh. The spicy chicken biscuit could have used more spicy honey as the chicken tender on the biscuit was a little on the drier side. We also had mimosas, regular and the wild berry which were really good! My wife had been eagerly anticipating the Thanksgiving Waffle ever since she tried it two years ago. Tonight, we finally made it back to Metro for dinner so she could enjoy it again. Sadly, it didn't live up to the memory. The waffle was soggy, overwhelmed by an excessive amount of gravy, and the turkey was dry. Unfortunately, it just wasn't very good this time around. My son ordered the chicken tender and gravy waffle--also heavy on the gravy--but he absolutely loved it. My daughter went with the fried chicken and waffle, and she enjoyed hers as well, though I think she was mostly in it for the strawberry butter. I had the club sandwich, which was great, but the fries were a disappointment--they tasted like they'd been cooked in old oil. Got there at 7:15 PM and 1st thing I noticed was the To Go guy looked and just shook his head, like you're coming in late. Sophie was a waitress and was very pleasant. Wife ordered fried chicken dinner and I ordered a cheese burger. My burger came out along with the wife's chicken except one piece in which the waitress said it would come out in 5 min. Burger was cooked just right, wife cut into her chicken and it was raw. She asked for them to drop it back in for a couple of min to make sure it was cooked and then came back and said they would drop in another order. Now it's coming up on closing time. Wife took it home because we didn't want them to have to stay. We got home and wife cut into it and it wasn't cooked all the way through, microwaved it to ensure it was cooked. This use to be our go to for a good meal but it has gone down in the 6 months. You can get a good breakfast but their other part of the menu is hit or miss. This is the 3rd time in 6 months that my wife's fried chicken hasn't been cooked right. Time to take a break from this place and find another diner. read more

If you're ever traveling on I-95 and find yourself between Daytona and St Augustine around lunch time, this is a great stop. Especially if you love diners. We sat at the counter and as an added bonus got to view the open kitchen working like clockwork. They have a veggie prep guy (he was washing and siring green beans), one that does poached eggs, the sauces, and other dishes, a grill person, and a fry guy. Plus there's the expeditor who helps out and puts it all together. The servers seem to have it all together and work well as a team, too. You can get breakfast all day here if you wish. We chose to Jo with a couple standards. My husband chose meatloaf. One of his faves. They grilled a couple of slices before putting it on the plate with Al dente green beans. And added brown gravy to the house made mashed potatoes. He ate every crumb. I chose their chicken pot pie. It was a huge serving of mixed veggies, cooked chicken pieces, and creamy yellow chicken "sauce" (gravy?). They then bake it all with a biscuit topping. The dish is served piping hot. It's very good -- and so large a portion that I could only eat half in one sitting. We are adding this to our "must stop at" list for our next trip along Florida's upper east coast. read more

It was not only fast to the table . It was reasonably priced . We love the Metro - up on Ponce de Leon - it's been a go to many times 100%. We were in Palm Coast and decided to go in. Waited for our table - fair wait - instantly greeted / offered drinks / drinks came - ordered food - food came - I cut into my fried chicken Benedict (my favorite) tasted bland and it was cold - took a 2nd bite - no flavor and cold - our server came over and asked if everything was ok and I told her it was cold - she looked concerned - I put my finger in between the "poached" egg and chicken - stone cold - peeled back the hollandaise sauce and the egg was absolutely raw! Clear raw and yolk raw!!! Gross!!! The waitress apologized and took it back she came back and apologized and said her manager was remaking it - so my wife and I ate at different times. From its humble start in a single location in Jacksonville, Florida, Metro Diner has grown into a significant culinary empire in a few short years. I have been a fan of Metro Diner for years. In fact, my first experience at Metro Diner was at the original location in Jacksonville when my daughter and I stumbled upon that location when heading back to Orlando, Florida from a trip up to my home state of New Jersey. We were both instant fans of the establishment. The Metro Diner can claim its history back to 1938, though that was when the building was built and opened as a diner. In the early 1990's, 1992 to be exact, the Metro Diner was rebranded as the Metro Diner and in 2000, the Davoli Brothers (Mark and John) purchased the Diner and their father came on board a few years later and Metro Diner began expanding throughout Jacksonville, Florida. In 2010, the Metro Diner was featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" and the popularity of that particular Food Network television show brought this diner its own level of popularity and with that popularity brought even more expansion. With that expansion came change. Unfortunately, one of those changes was a more streamlined menu and one of the items dropped from the menu was my favorite item at the Metro Diner. This was a pork tenderloin sandwich with bacon and lettuce. It was truly fantastic sandwich, but unfortunately, it fell to the wayside. The Metro Diner still has some fantastic options. Their burgers are pretty stellar. My daughter originally had the chicken and waffles, which is still her favorite item on the Metro Diner's menu and is still on the Metro Diner menu today. Overall, I had a great experience at this particular Metro Diner, even if I could not have that fantastic pork tenderloin sandwich. The service was great and only enhanced my overall experience. I would definitely recommend this particular Metro Diner and I give it five stars. read more

Ordered from Uber eats...after an hour I had to go get my order as they didn't complete for my driver...all about missing sausage. Front of house, line cook need some retraining for sure...my poor driver could have left, he kept communicating with me, kept trying to get host and expediter to finish order but they didn't care. I came in and watched Uber effort, he says it happens all the time. Made them refire order and sausage over cooked...will NEVER be back.
