I hate what they've done to Steak n Shake. Before they eliminated table service and went to kiosk ordered, we ate here every few weeks. The service was always excellent and made you feel like you're in a real old school burger joint. No more. We tried it again this week for the first time in three years, but it's just not as good as in the past. The tallow fries were hot and delicious, but the burgers are not cooked as they once were, with a crispy edge. Now, the patty is just kind of gray and somewhat bland. The shakes were okay, but we miss the side-by-side shakes and special flavors they once had like Very Berry Strawberry. They could have adopted the service method many other fast-food restaurants use: ordering from a human being at the counter and the food is delivered to your table. That would be far better than the impersonal kiosk. read more

I wanted to get a burger I like how they flatten the patties when they fry them , I walked in and I almost walked out and then they were The self ordering Kiosk I really hate them . Most fast Food places are doing this and it's a mission to order but I must say. It was easier than most kiosk I've used elsewhere. I decided with the single steak and cheese burger with lettuce and tomato , the burger meat tasted like good quality meat and the cheese was melted. I like the thin fries not bad , but they were way to salty , the cooking area was ok , I've seen dirtier kitchens.. I just didn't like all self serve ordering kiosk, to the fountain drinks you got to scan a code to get a soda , what little help they have is all in the kitchen why does it have to be self serve. Made the mistake of stopping here for lunch on 8/25/26. Kiosks are confusing and difficult to use, especially when trying ti correct an order. Dining room was generally unkept with many tables not wiped off from previous customers. Restrooms dirty and one toilet in women's stopped up. As long time customers of this chain, it's been downhill ever since they added the kiosks and cut waitstaff. From previous visits, their Daytona store is no better. After yesterday's experience, we're done with Steak-n-Shake. read more

This place might be the worse fast restaurant I've ever set foot in. Dirty dining room and terrible customer service. 32 minutes to get a burger and tots. Burger sat for at least 20 minutes because they forgot to cook tots. When I registered at complaint with two separate employees, they literally refused to listen and walked away from me. The manager, who was also on the grill, took the time to refund my purchase as I chose to dispose of my food and leave. I will never return. So they get no stars for greeting and personal service, Even though the food came out pretty quick. Have been here about three times for takeout. Ordering on the kiosk is a little odd at first, but then it makes a bit more sense. Sorry, not going to tip a machine. Have ordered the fries (small) and my wife found them to be very good. Have ordered the original and also the one with bacon, and although am a big fan of bacon, found the original steakburger to be just very very tasty and it hits the spot well. The interior seems clean enough and the staff are all busy with putting orders together, so one hopes the customers tidy up their mess... maybe? When the order comes out, am able to get a smile from the staff member and that is probably due to saying, "thank you." :0) For a takeout burger, this is just fine. The kiosk ordering was fast and easy to do similar to McDonald's. But it was frustrating to my mother, so I can see how this can be a negative for older people and maybe having a person take your order be helpful. We ordered to go and didn't realize you have to scan you receipt to get your drink maybe a sign that says that would be nice. But there was a lady very helpful who guided us and refilled the ice tea for us. The food was good in taste but must say the fries were a little too salty for me and too oily for my mom. I had to come to Steak n Shake after years to try the new beef tallow fries. Those were fantastic. The burger was also delicious. The staff is somewhat nice. I did the drive thru. Disappointing On our way home from our annual week in Kissimmee we normally stop along I-95 for lunch. I have always liked Steak & Shake for a good burger and thick shake. There is no longer waitstaff or printed menus to order at a table. You have to use the machine that is confusing for us very senior persons. It was one 1:30pm and only one other customer was seated. One other couple arrived while we were eating. The young lady doing clean-up of the tables was extremely helpful in placing an order. I would have ordered a shake to go with the burger but that was too completed to do as the combo had been selected. The "steak" patty was extremely thin -- probably 12 from a pound. It was cold! The fries were "dead cold" and tough. I had ordered the "garlic" for her (she loves garlic) when she was in the restroom. As we left I asked her how it (garlic) tasted -- she was surprised and said she did not taste garlic! Arbys, McD, or BK would have been a better choice. We crossed S&S off our list for future visits. Great location just off 95. Never been to a Steak 'N Shakes, but it looked good on the website. Started with Nutella shake and two chocolate they were great. The food is just average and most people such as myself only come because of the shakes which are really good! But and this is a big but when you get rewards on the app which can be used towards a free shake as advertised with no stipulation written on the reward, once you try to redeem for a free shake you are told you can not redeem during the discounted hours, which it doesn't say on the rewards! Using the automated kiosk to place my order, I chose a double steak burger meal with fries and a drink. Then, I added a deluxe chili. When my order was ready, there was no fries (with their touting of tallow fries, it was the REASON I stopped in to try them). Apparently, I misread the kiosk and unknowingly "replaced" the fries with a chili when I thought I was "adding" a chili. The attendant was very rude about it. This restaurant is beyond dirty. The floors are nasty, tables not washed, my booth bench had dust, crumbs, and hair on it. Hubby wanted to dine here anyway so we ordered from the kiosk. The food prep and grill area looked clean enough though and I have to say my burger and fries were actually pretty good. My husband ordered chicken tenders and onion rings which were decent but he said the tenders felt microwaved. All in all, we won't be back because of the lack of cleanliness. read more

Would love to give it a -0-. My husband and I love Steak n Shake and do not have one where we live in NC so we don't always look at reviews well what a mistake that was. This place was horrible. There were notes on the kiosks that said No tomatoes, No onions, No pickles, No lettuce, No onion rings and not to mention that after we got our drinks there were no lids and shakes, we got them to go and we were travelling with our grandchildren will no lids (fun, fun). Can I put a zero start review? A negative one? This was the WORST "restaurant" I have ever been to. They were out of tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, cheese sauce, SHAKES (how can you be out of something that is part of your name). The printer was out of ink, so it didn't print the QR code for the soda fountain in it, so we couldn't get the soda fountain to work. The employees just kept saying "scan your receipt to get soda!" Our receipt was a BLANK piece of paper! It took them 5 minutes to realize how impossible it was to scan a blank piece of paper. The entire restaurant was filthy, and to top it off, I used the restroom to wash my hands, and they were out of paper towels! How are the employees washing THEIR hands? Stay away from this place. I love a Steak 'n Shake and am probably giving it an extra star because of nostalgia since they've closed all the locations in our state. Headed north back home we had to hit one and this one was it. Not the easiest on/off 95 - but again, we're suckers for this place. Hubby had his usual cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and mayo. It was as expected. I am always torn between the garlic burger and the Wisconsin butter burger. Today it was a garlic day. While it took a little longer to get the food out than we're used to, it wasn't a tremendous wait. The burgers were just like they were supposed to be, which I am sure is a franchise's dream. The shakes were yummy, though I would have like a bit more chocolate in my dark chocolate shake. It's clean and the service is friendly. Everything you want and expect from a Steak 'n Shake. We came to the door because google said it was 24 hours. It was locked and the sign on the door said dine in till 12:00 or something like that. The guy in inside just looked at us like we were idiots. So the sign did say drive through opened 24 hours. So me and my wife pulled around to drive through where we waited five minutes yelling hello into the speaker. Are used to love steak and shake and I have not had it in years so decided to go in and try it. Got a very good burger that was delicious ! Got the french fries and they were bone called and had to go back to the drive-through to replace so much they did with no problem. French fries are good but there was no salt on them. Also ordered a vanilla malt which was brown in color and had chunks of unknown substance in it and it did not taste right. Overall... not great. Staff was very nice though! read more

The steak and shake in south Florida really sucks so this was a refreshing experience with delicious food choices and a revamped menu. I used to enjoy their chicken frisco melt and I added onions but they took the chicken frisco off the menu(don't worry for you frisco lovers the beef frisco style is available) so I tried the garlic steak burger for $3.99 And I chose fries for my side with an extra side of their cheesy fries. This place used to be great. Now it's all self service or drive thru, a glorified McDonald's. They literally got rid of their entire wait staff. Staff is rude, inattentive, and the store is FILTHY. Not just trash on the floor, which there is, but deep clean filth. Like, don't look too closely at anything because you may make yourself sick. My kid slipped in the greasy floor by the register and her leg was covered from her knee to her foot in black grease. Showed the manager, who was like, "yeah, someone spilled something earlier." My wife sat in the drive thru for 45 minutes yesterday waiting to place an order with only two cars in front of her. After finally being able to place an order and being handed the bag of food, she looked inside and noticed there was no bbq sauce for the chicken tenders. She waved her hand to attempt to get the woman at the window attention. When that failed, she bumped the horn to see if she would turn around, no response.
