When I entered this one (Wed evening @ 8:00) the sign said "Please wait to be seated". I waited (and waited) until I was eventually told to find a seat, and they will follow me. (Why have the sign then?). The staff was overall friendly, not their fault the place was understaffed. Food was good, small portion of fries and even smaller portion of cheese sauce (don't come close to being enough cheese for my fries). First of, I'll say that the food and shake were good. Steak 'n Shake is one of my favorite franchises. Their half priced happy hour, and kids meal prices are some of the lowest around. It's an actual restaurant. You also have the choice to order through the drive thru, or you can order at the counter. We chose to dine in. It was less than an enjoyable experience from the start. One of the young waitresses was scolding our waitress, literally right in front of us. It was so awkward! It didn't end then, she proceeded to scold the cooks in the back, from the food window, also right in front of us. Girl, you're like 18 years old, you got a lot of learning to do yourself! When she started yelling at the manager, my husband about lost it. Instead, he motioned for the manager to approach and he shared our opinion with him. 10/10 would recommend, as long as your server isn't Ariel. The manager was working her hind end off, the kitchen was ROCKING it and throwing out orders, and the rest of the waitstaff pre bussed tables, stayed on top of refills, and interacted with guests while keeping up with their sections. 5 stars for all of them. Ariel, on the other hand, had a bad attitude. She had to be FORCED to serve us by the manager, after the manager bussed our table so we could have a place to eat. She did the absolute minimum (which included forgetting our drinks, and the manager coming to the rescue yet again with them). The serving girls on the other hand were the snobbiest and they weren't even busy. Didn't refill our drinks until we asked and were very rude about it. First of all I'd like to say that the burgers that we ordered were not appealing to the eye. Second of all, when we got a closer look, the burgers were not cooked all the way through. The buns were old tasting, and dry, they were also very flaky and practically disgusting. Usually Steak and Shake is pretty good but tonight it was not. I would like to point out that the cashier was very down to earth and seemed like the only sane person in the restaurant. As I looked into the kitchen there were notes all over the place reminding workers of simple cleaning procedures. Never disappointed. If they are busy when you arrive don't fret, it's worth the wait. On this visit we had to wait about 10 minutes as it seemed a rodeo just finished and half the cowboys and cowgirls at the rodeo were mighty hungry for an awesome steak burger. I always have the Frisco Melt and I'm never sorry, ok almost never. If they don't bring extra sauce that's a problem. You can skip the shoestring fries as I've never liked them but the burgers are always thoroughly cooked, still a bit greasy (good thing), hot and addictingly great. Worst experience I've had in 40 years. We went in around 9 p.m. on 9/6/2023 There was a large crowd (24 or more) Teen age girls that were on some sort of HS athletic team seated at one long section of tables. They had just arrived before us. We were seated a few tables away. As we placed our order, they kept getting louder and louder until they were shouting and laughing to the point where we couldn't talk to each other at our table. I gave up hoping they would quiet down before our food arrived, and found our server over where the orders are turned in, and asked at the top of my voice if we could be moved to a large empty section of tables near the back of the restaurant. As best I could tell, by having her repeat herself a couple of times, That it was closed or reserved. We went ahead and ate as fast as we could and as we were leaving I noticed that 3 tables in the closed section had a few customers being served, and the other 5 were empty. I understand that restaurants love having big groups eat there, and maybe the Manager did not want to ask them to be less rude, but not letting regular customers move to a quieter section to be able to have a conversation is unacceptable. Also, the Men's Room was out of soap in both dispensers and paper towels in both dispensers, when we first entered, so it was not because of this group who also had just entered. We met two couples in the entry as we were leaving and warned them about the noise. As I was driving out of the lot, I notice both couples had turned around and were going to their cars after hearing all that noise. We did have to wait 15 minutes in the drive thru... they didn't offer any condiments or napkins. Starving, since all I had all day was a measly half of a gross chicken wrap from the Dallas airport and I have been "en route" since 4:00AM in the morning I practically ran over here as soon as I was checked in. Customer Service: The staff was friendly enough, but not super friendly. They did just fine in my book, but there was no "personality" really, but HEY, I came to EAT! Restaurant: Large, clean and yummy smelling. Definitely worth sitting and eating in! Food: I ordered the "Frisco Melt", fries and a Pepsi. Pepsi - DUH! It is fountain Pepsi! - YUMMMAAAY! Fries - The fries were sickly and thin looking, but they tasted great! Don't let their appearance throw you off like i almost did! Frisco Melt - Divine! It comes with a side of "Frisco sauce" (see: Thousand Island), but I barely used any of mine. The melt was great just as it was, a tasty steak burger melt practically dipped in butter! I plan on sneaking back over here a couple more times to try their other steak burgers before I leave town...
