This place is the worst. I tried to order two grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato to go at about 2:30am (after driving for 6 hours) since it was the only place open. All the while I stood at the front and watched multiple people walk in and out getting their food. every time i asked they said "it is next." Well i know i should have just left after about 10 minutes but for some sick reason i wanted to see how this played out. Upon seating and using bathroom, the floors were noticed to be dirty everywhere and especially in the bathrooms. Napkins and utensils were not available to start and were needed after a shake and spoon accident. The shake was tasty and smooth. This is a disgusting representation for this chain. YUCK! The property was filthy, especially the bathrooms. My son's milkshake was either put in a dirty glass or was made in a dirty shaker. I'll give this Steak 'n Shake 1 star because our order was right. Everything else didn't even deserve a star. The service was absolutely terrible there were 9 people on staff and not one single customer was being helped. They all stood in the kitchen and talked. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting- men's had water overflowing on the floor and women's- dirty floor paper towels were on the counter and it smelled horrible. We've never been to a Steak 'n Shake and heard they have great burgers. So we decided to give it a try a few months ago...mind you, it was our first time ever. The problem wasn't with the staff. Our server was nice and attentive. But we can't speak for the rest. Our issue was more with the food and the location. As soon as we sat down at our booth, we noticed a funky smell. Kind of like that wet and damp cloth type of smell. The table felt a little sticky and the condiments and other things on the table didn't look clean. We should've gotten up to leave, but we stuck it out and gave it a chance. I ordered a burger and my husband ordered the spaghetti with their chili because the picture on the menu looked so delicious. My burger wasn't anything spectacular. Maybe I had higher expectations because this place rave about their burgers. The patty was thin and plain with no flavor whatsoever. Then my husband's plate came and we both looked at each other. We looked back on the menu picture to make sure he ordered the right thing. It was literally a plate of room temperature rubbery spaghetti with a tablespoon of chili!!!! Where was the chili??!!!!! We asked our server why the dish didn't look at least remotely close to the picture advertised. He agreed and said he should've warned us first. So we asked for extra chili. It cost $1 for extra chili??!! When our server came back...I thought there has to be a hidden camera somewhere! The extra chili was half filled on one of those takeout plastic sauce containers - the size of a quarter!!!!!!!! I couldn't even exaggerate if I wanted to! We were speechless and asked if he was kidding with us!!! He said no and you could tell he was quite embarrassed. My husband must've took another bite of his plate and we asked for the check. David was attentive, got our order correct the first time, made sure we had plenty to drink and basically made us feel welcome and even thanked us for coming by. DISGUSTING OMG!!! AVOID!! If I could give zero stars I would. This is the GROSSEST place I have ever been to. The whole restaurant was just caked in gunk and trash. The coffee mug I was given was COVERED in various green, black and brown stuff. I could wipe it off gently with a napkin so it just hadn't been cleaned. I understand places can get dirty truly I do. I just can't do Steak 'n Shake anymore and it's not just this location. The last 3 times I've been to a Steak 'n Shake, Mobile, AL, Pensacola, FL and now this one in Tallahassee I am done. The burgers come out overcooked dry and crunchy and the shakes have ice chunks in them with hardly any chocolate flavor. They used to be the best place for a burger and shake but I'm not going to waste my time and money again. Ive been sitting here waiting for my waitress to even refill mine and my friends drinks. We're one of her two tables and she's standing having a half an hour conversation with the other, politely asking them if they want refills. As a waitress I would understand if she was busy but outright ignoring one table because they're younger and "probably won't tip better than the older people" is completely ridiculous. Knowing how much work goes into waitressing I always tip accordingly. Now after finally getting out drinks I'm still waiting for our check. The waitress was horrible. A drink was spilled and she would not bring us napkins to clean it up. We didn't even ask her to clean it just asked if we could have napkins. My daughter and husband had to keep going to the bathrooms to get napkins which were not really absorbing the spill. We asked her again and she told us to give her a few minutes. We asked again after five minutes and she still refused. In the meantime we literally had to avoid sweet tea dripping between the table cracks. Yesterday, we ordered for food from Steak N Shake one in 3394 Capital Cir NE, Tallahassee. We were waiting for more than 45 minutes. Those who came after us ordered and they completed their lunch. Still they didn't serve our lunch. Our serving waitress didn't even care or say anything to us the reason for the delay. Steak N Shake manager is also aware about this and he doesn't say anything about this. Finally we came out without having our lunch. This is very bad. Your customer service is very bad. At least we are expecting a reason for the delay from restaurant manager since he is aware about this. Also the place was very messy, toilet was totally unclean. Worst fast food restaurant in Tallahassee. Took the family here a week ago. Food took forever to get served. The chili looked like refried beans, very thick and dry and nasty. She went in numerous times and there was a cook in the stall talking on the phone complaining about how many burgers she had to make that day, and how tired she was, etc.. I just left the Steak & Shake on N/W Capital Circle, Tallahassee. I watched over 8 staffers work for over 40 minutes. The hand wash station is visible from the front of the house. This is a worst fast food store or restaurant I have ever went. We got some vouchers in our mailbox. So, we took our kids to this in one evening. We waited 5 minutes in the entrance where it says wait to be seated. They pretended to be busy, but it didn't look busy at all. They took our order in the counter and then we were seated. After waiting 20 minutes with hunger stomach, a waitress came in and said they ran out of one of our ordered item. So, we had to choose a different. Then after another 20 minutes, they brought all food in a take away bag (no tray or anything). We started eating. We didn't have spoon or fork for salad or genuine chilli (liquid item). So, I went for looking for spoon. I found an open place next to front counter where all spoons were kept. A lady from inside shouted at me that I am not meant to be in that place. This wasn't restricted or blocked. It looks like any other fast food store where you serve yourself by taking your own spoons. I couldn't figure out why that nasty lady had to shout. I just replied that you are not providing good service. She pretty much shouted back about what I said. I just left rather than shouting back to a dog. This is how they serve their customers.
