Honey and I usually come here every so often. We always come at night and we always get the much older server who's been there forever with dirty blonde hair. Tonight after our laundry we decided to get burgers. The same server greeted us. She proceeded to cough in her hand and then wipe her nose. She then made us wait for her to wipe down a table in between a bunch of other people when there was plenty of open seating throughout the restaurant. After we were seated and she came to take our drink order, honey politely asked her to go wash her hands before she served us and explained to her we saw her cough in her hand and then wipe at her nose. She was bewildered he would even say such a thing. She walked to the back after questioning his comment and request and we heard her mocking him with the other waitstaff. "Oh I can't I have to wash my hands first" and the like. Very unprofessional. Very appalling. Maybe the Health Department should give this location a look. read more

Standard Steak N Shake overall. You've got your cheap diner food, choice of milkshakes, passable service, and questionable cleanliness. I went to get to-go milkshakes with a couple friends tonight. The girl didn't acknowledge us for a while at the cash register, not a big deal but still noticeable. The milkshakes were all good but were smaller than expected, unfortunately. The floor was super sticky and the bathroom was quite gross. Late night burger craving? Check. Steak 'n Shake is open 24 hours and serves up great fresh burgers at a great price. I love their fries, but this time got the garlic Parmesan version which sounds great in theory , but lacked on flavor. On the other hand, hubby's Cajun fries were delicious ! It is 29 cents extra for the fry flavoring and worth every penny for the Cajun at least. Salt and vinegar will be my next try. They do put mustard on your burger so if you are a non-mustard fan, let them know and they will accommodate :). Service is very nice and sweet, but really slow for a fast food joint. Also, the manager seemed confused about the orders and almost mixed them up :O. There was also a huge line through the drive thru which meant that drive thru was also experiencing the wait times we did by ordering inside to-go. One thing I wish they would fix is seating if you are taking food to go. Just a bench or two would have made that wait a bit more tolerable. Even a set place to stand because we got asked three times if we need to be seated :(. You either stand at the register or in the line to be seated. There is nowhere else by the door unless you go outside. With those waiting times, there should definitely be a spot! read more

Took me awhile to figure out which one we went to. The locations offered on the site are way off, they put this one near goldenrod it's way off. Anyway the one we went to is on 436 just south of Aloma. This is the one I am pretty sure. We got in and seated in a few minutes, they were busy. i have to say right away I looked around and saw the servers busting ass. Here is the great part, for the most part the servers were if my estimate is right, in their 60's. iI tell you they were busting ass. Our waitress was Cassandra she was in her 60's with a limp she was incredible. Got our orders, refilled the drinks, asked if we were ok. Taking care of all her tables, bussing tables, working the register. Had our check up fast and, got us in and out under 30 minutes. All of the waiters and waitresses were incredible, I know because I always watch for my reviews.. Shella also older and fast, I missed some of the other waiters names they were all good. No sitting around talking with themselves all business. Even the younger guy working as a waiter was good. i have never seen people turn tables as fast as these guys were. Taking orders, delivering food, bussing tables at lightning speed. I think it didn't matter who's table it was it was all hands in. The manager is doing an outstanding job training and hiring these people.As I said for the most part at least four grandparent age. Excellent employ older folks. Cassandra was great read more

It really is hit or miss with the food at Steak n shake. Unfortunately, instead of indulging in my usual milk shake happy hour, I ordered a steak burger and fries. Both felt like they were room temp and my bread was a little soggied. My friend became sick to the stomach about 2 hours after eating his burger. I' had only been in there 10min, ordered my food and BAM!, saw a roach crawling next to me. The waitress came and brought us water, and our glasses were filthy.. I really have issues when it comes to eating at a restaurant. If i feel the sanitation is not up to par, all I can worry about is whether or not the food I'm eating is sanitary. My friend ordered a chicken jalapeno burger, and they gave her the wrong sandwich. I took few bites of my burger because i was too paranoid thinking I would find something in my burger that would gross me out. Aweful! All I ordered was Fries, a kids shake and coke light ice. Fries were cold. Come had so much ice I couldn't get the straw in it. Kids shake was mostly whipped cream. Fast food isn't rocket science. I used to stop here all the tine but the food gets worse every time. Tried to add cookies and I'm told they can't add to the bill. So I suggested placing a separate order for cookies and I'm told manager won't let me. To top it off I have the app and the girl tells me she can't use it because she doesn't know how!!! read more

The Steak 'n Shakes in my area and in NY always have great reviews. We decided to try this one, in spite of it having low avg ratings. I was really craving a good burger. After our experience...I still am. I hate leaving negative reviews, but the experience was such that I could not let it slide. I convinced my son to try a patty melt because he'd never had one before. I ordered a basic burger, but with pepper jack cheese and grilled onions. They brought us a complete incorrect order, the first time. Next, my son's sandwich was supposed to have two patties, but only had one very flat one. He decided to keep it. It took them four tries to remember to put grilled onions on my sandwich (each time it arrived with raw onions). The waitress blamed the cook, but she should have checked before bringing them to me. Otherwise, she was very friendly. I also ordered an eggnog milkshake, which arrived looking and tasting like a vanilla shake with nutmeg sprinkled on top. Very disappointing. read more

SnS has an old school diner style decor, very 60's feel. The food was decent for an incredibly low price, you can't beat 3.99 for sliders & fries. The waitresses were all very pleasant :) This is definitely a great place to come for lunch or a quick bite! read more

I just got back from this location, having eaten here many many times over the past 7 years. Unlike many other restaurants, Steak 'n Shake has actually introduced lower-priced menu options which afford it's patrons the option to choose from a variety of different style burger and fry combos for just $3.99. On this most recent visit, I had a coupon for a Royale Burger and Fries (for $4.49, because bacon and eggs aren't cheap). Usually I get a Double Steakburger with cheese or a Frisco Melt, but on this occasion I felt like changing things up. I've never had an issue with presentation, but this burger was probably one of the best looking fast food burgers I've ever seen. This could be attributed to the longer-than-average wait time, so they might have been able to pay more care and attention to each burger. Whatever the reason, the result was a delicious looking AND tasting burger. read more

Thanks for the cold burger. I don't mind waiting for a hot one. Every time I go to steak and shake I anticipate waiting a little bit longer but this one is ridiculous. I've had to wait over 30 minutes the last time I was here before they realized they lost the ticket for my food. The only thing they did for me was give me a coupon for a free meal that expired in 5 days. No manager came to talk to me either which I think 45 minutes for 2 burgers requires a manager checking on the guest. I work at a fine dining restaurant and two burger there takes 15 minutes or less. I come here all the time with friends and family and the food is always good and affordable and the service is awesome! Keana is my favorite server in the whole wide world. This steak 'n Shake looks quite unkept. Drive-Thru consists of a 30 minute wait. The employees are quite unkept themselves... I looked through the drive-thru window and I saw an employee frying up food with his pants low enough you could see his BUTT-CRACK... I hope he didn't touch his sweaty ass then touch my food... I don't believe this place is sanitary. The food is just okay (The onion leaves a long lasting impression.) As for the fries, they are cold and wrinkly at the bottom of the bag. This steak and shake rarely disappoints in food quality. The only reason it loses a star is because it is hard to be seated when you try to eat in. Granted, the staff is really busy but its just annoying to be standing so long. If we could be seated and wait in our seats it would be way better. Every time I come to this location the service is great, wait time isn't long for the food, and the food is usually up to my standards if not better. Their prices are reasonable and you can find whatever it may be that you're looking for whether it's a salad or a steak burger. This isn't really the place to go if you're counting your calories but it's a great place to catch a good burger or shake late night or during the day. One of my personal favorite servers at this locale is Cassie as she very customer friendly and has always provided great service the times that I've visited! Alvin is a great member of management that works here, as well and he's very customer friendly and usually comes out to greet the customers and ensure that the food and service is great! read more
