It is obvious that Martin, the owner, cares deeply about his restaurant. He greeted us at the front door and made sure we enjoyed the food. We also heard his greeting customers as they were entering or leaving the restaurant. We went at lunchtime today, and the service was very attentive. Our food came out quickly and it was delicious. I order the harvest salad ($12) and added on a crab cake ($8). Both the salad and the crab cake were superb. The salad had goat cheese, cranberries, pumpkin seeds, and walnuts. What made the crab cake excellent was the complete lack of filler. It was all crab meat! My husband ordered Jamie's salad. (Jamie is the chef.) My husband loves olives and artichoke hearts and these are very rarely found in salad at restaurants. He ate the salad and would have eaten the bowl too if he could. We got 2 mini burgers and fries for my 20 month old son. He ate most of his fries and I finished them off. They tasted like boardwalk fries! We will be back! read more

My family and I had wanted to try this place for awhile. We came for brunch. Our experience was pretty darn bad. My wife and daughter's order was completely wrong. The delay for getting the food was lengthy. I talked with the manager and they did the items off our check. They did seem sincere when these problems took place. If you go on a Friday night make sure you look for the brown hair bartender with the ponytail, Owen. He will definitely serve you the fastest. Honorable mention to the blonde girl. The rest of the bartenders are rather selective... However the security staff is phenomenal and professional. They diffuse situations before they escalate and always treat everyone with dignity in the process. The weekend dance parties can get pretty wild but they are always safe because of this. My girlfriend and I love this place, their "burgers of the week" keep sucking me in with their odd combinations. The food is always excellent. I personally found the food to be overpriced and occasionally awful. Their spicy crab chowder or whatever they call it is the cheapest tasting crap I ever had in my life. Decent drink selection though. As far as bars in the area go... It beats going to a Big Heads Pub, but not by much. The general atmosphere is pretty douchey as well. Absolutely amazing! This place is about 30-35min from home but l don't care! By the time I bite into my second appetizer wing (garlic hot), I was already thinking about when I would be back! For my entree I ordered the Wass burger and subbed the beef for turkey. I accidentally forgot to mention hold the bacon and they recooked my entire order right away with no fuss or hesitation! Update: The owner, Paul, sent me a very generous gift card for our troubles on Father's Day. We all went back to Steam last Sunday for dinner to use the gift card. We were seated right away and our server, Victoria, was excellent. Had not treated myself to burger in a while, so I ordered the wass burger with a fried egg on top cooked medium rare. Despite the burger not really having that much pink to it, I can't even complain because it was so satisfying. Think I wolfed it down in 5 minutes tops. Wish I had taken a photo - it was honestly the most photogenic burger I had seen in my life. Delicious gooey yolk running down the sides and all! Definitely a good casual meal kind of place. Lots of beers on tap. Waiters typically provided very attentive service. I can only think of one time where I went with my grandparents and a waitress was kind of short with them while they were trying to order. read more

Bartenders here frequently steal money from customers. here is mine and my friends' experiences: -asked what the cheapest beer was. A young guy told me $2 for PBR or Highlife. I said alright, i'll take three. he comes back with three bottles, opens them all for my 2 friends and i, then tells us "by the way these are 3.25." All I could do was glare at him, he then awkwardly told me "i forgot the band was playing tonight." i asked where they were, he said they are playing soon. They never came....guess the band forgot. To catch him in his lie, I asked the other bartenders "excuse me, how much longer will MHL be $2 this evening?" I received a different answer from every single staff member i asked. Interesting.... next was my friend and I ordered 5 MHL one evening. When i asked to close my tab, I was handed a blank, unitemized receipt with a total of $23. Right on their website, MHL is listed as $2. Obviously the bartender was charging us for more expensive beers hence the blank receipt. Dont go here. The staff is rude and the food is apparently horrid. Just go somewhere else on your night out. read more

Had such a great time here. Waitress was very attentive. You MUST get the cheesesteak sliders. They have great specials on the craft beers and the food is just amazing. I have eaten here and partied here in the past and the food is very good and the waiters and bartenders are always very attentive and friendly... however my "only 2 stars" comes from my latest experience Friday June 23, 2017. The bouncers at the front door were extremely rude and obnoxious. My friends and I are in our mid- late 30's and we were celebrating a farewell party with about 15 people and at the door we were told that we were too old to be there that everyone inside was 5-10 years younger and I was criticized for having braces on my teeth for my age of 38. Also tried to charge me for re-entry when I had been there since 9 and was told that I did not need a stamp when I asked before I went outside. They were not rude to the men in our group; just the women so I suggest that you come with a date and look under 30 to get politeness from the bouncers read more

Place is pretty good. Have been a few times now. Menu is huge and I have tried a little bit of everything...while it's not wow food, it's good enough to keep coming back. Service gets a little slow during busy times, I always feel like they're understaffed. Steam was excellent when it first opened but then it sort of went down a bit. We stopped going for a year or so but was pleasantly surprised this past fall and have been back a few times since. Just know that it's kiddie city after about 10pm. read more

I have been here many times for both food and drinks. The service is always good as they have a pretty solid staff. I've never had anything there I didn't enjoy but I have to HIGHLY recommend the Tuscan chicken after having it this past Saturday. Oh em gee was it delicious!! I very much so appreciate the different spin they put on staple dishes and, as previously mentioned, they have an extensive offering in the booze department. I do tend to avoid this place when there is a DJ or band because sometimes it is just waaaaay too loud because of the acoustics in there. This place is right near my daughter's daycare and has become our Friday night staple for dinner. We pick her up (she's 1.5 years old) and the three of us head over. The staff is always great, coming up to say hi to us and entertain our daughter a bit. Everyone is always attentive, polite and professional while still promoting a warm, friendly atmosphere. Last night, we split the cheesesteak nachos as an appetizer. Delicious!! The melted white cheese sauce they make is fantastic! Way better than the traditional cheddar cheese sauce or shredded cheese normally found on nachos. For our entrees, my wife ordered wings and I got the Cubano sandwich. Both were perfect. My wife couldn't decide between a few of the many sauce choices they offer for the wings so our server offered to split the order of wings onto multiple plates so she could try all the different kinds she wanted. And the chipotle BBQ sauce that was on my cubano made for a great, interesting twist with a little kick. So good though, crispy bread, tart pickles, delicious Pulled Pork! The atmosphere was warm and friendly, it was loud enough where we didn't feel worried that our daughter would make a scene if she got a bit cranky but not too loud for us to be able to talk and enjoy our dinner. Basically, just right! And everyone around us seemed to be in a great mood also. We struck up a conversation with the table next to us. Everyone here is just so friendly! We will continue to come here for our Friday night dinners, and couldn't be happier to have found this place! read more

Very disappointed with my experience at steam. I recently got lunch with friends there. While the food was decent, the service was terrible!! Our waitress did not seem to know the menu and was no where to be found when needed throughout our experience. After finally getting our checks, we asked her to simply split it evenly. She did not do so. She charged my card $126 in addition to the split of $25 that was supposed to be my actual check. However, I was not the only person she did this to. She also mistakenly charged my friend $60 in addition to the original $25. Rather than telling us she made an honest mistake, I found out the next Morgan when I checked my bank account to see that. I immediately contacted Steam and the bank. I was told the problem would be resolved and the $126 would not go through it will be voided within 48 hours. Well here I am, along with my friend 72 hours later with the money being processed through. When I called the manager to speak to her about the problem, I was told that "she was not available". I'm sorry, you're not available on a Tuesday afternoon at 4pm? I'm sure you're so busy. I'm extremely frustrated with the management of this restaurant. So while I'm on hold with the bank, I figured I'd take the time to write about my experience. I'll be sure to let the rest of Southampton know not to dine at Steam and to let them know management does not properly train their employees and avoids conflicts. read more

I love this place for happy hour specials. We always have good service and from 4pm-6pm Monday to Friday the ENTIRE bar is half price. They have a great draft selection (easily 20 beers long and they rotate) you really can't go wrong. The food for happy hour is a smallish list of 5$ appetizers. I have been to Steam 3 times but only for lunch so I cannot review on what it's like on a Saturday night. Their food is very good. I've ordered the Steak and Spinach salad, the chicken salad sliders, and the burger sliders and they were all excellent. The sliders are not served with anything and the fries are an additional cost but they are delicious! They also have a very large beer selection. The atmosphere and ambience are great.
