    a plate of breakfast food

Drove by earlier this week and saw the sign that says,"under new management,"thought we would give this place another shot. The Good: Local folks trying to make it happen Decent tasting food but under seasoned Decent ambiance. The Ugly: Disappointing portion of scrambled egg, Prices are higher but to be expected in Biden administration.

It's a remodeled Steamboat Lilly's in Hilliard! Cutest place I ever seen inside! Great food too!

Old school, small town dinner. Food is far from gourmet, but it came out quick with a friendly smile.

I was greeted by one of the owners with the enthusiasm and friendliness you don't see that often. After reviewing the menu I decided on the "Sophia" sandwich to go. The owner told me this would be the first time she was making it. After a short wait, I left with sandwich in hand. Upon getting home and opening the bag, I was greeted by an amazing aroma that advanced my enthusiasm for lunch. The first bite and subsequent bites were simply amazing. The blend of rich flavors and perfect texture made it one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I definitely recommend this place and can't wait to return. A great addition to downtown Fernandina Beach.

I was particularly fond of the shrimp salad sandwich, which was incredibly flavorful and filling. I paired it with the broccoli salad, which was an instant favorite and added some nice crunchy texture to the savory shrimp sandwich. Beware that the beer and wine can be quite expensive here, which the employee actually warned me about. I went next door to the wine/beer bottle shop to get a bottle of wine, which was much cheaper. Also, I would be remiss not to mention the wonderful pastries here. The macaroons are to die for, and they have wonderful ice cream and massively big cookies (the peanut butter cookie was my favorite). My only warning is that dining is seat yourself and the service can be a little slow, so if you're in a rush, just order to go, and sit in the rocking chairs near the pond in back. Overall we really enjoyed our two meals here and will definitely head back on our next visit to Amelia Island.

We started with the cheesy bread, which was super flavorful and the perfect appetizer to share. For mains, our table tried the shrimp scampi, short rib, and redfish--all of them were excellent. The shrimp scampi was buttery and delicious, the short rib was incredibly tender, and the redfish was cooked perfectly with great flavor. A big shoutout to Holly, our waitress, who made the night even better. She was friendly, attentive, and gave great recommendations without being overbearing. Great food, great patio vibe, and great service. Definitely a spot we'll come back to!

Anyways, our server was pretty friendly, and we can't complain about the ambience. Here's what we tried: -Crab Dip: 10/10 - SOOO YUMMY! Perfect crab dip, so rich, so flavorful. -Lobster Bisque: 2/10 - This wasn't bisque, it wasn't even chowder. It was so thick and had no real taste to it. -Goat Cheese Burger: 9/10 - creamy, goat cheese was the star, overall delicious. fries were good too! -Lobster Ravioli: 7/10 - disappointing, to be honest. Sauce was great but the ravioli itself kind of tasted like frozen lobster ravioli. -French dip Sandwich: 6/10 - super salty, very savory, but very little depth of flavor. Could've used something zingy. -Chocolate Cake: 9/10 - no one can argue with a chocolate cake. I mean come on! I loved that it came out cold and dense.

At first we ended up at the bar-only spot (easy mistake), but they quickly pointed us around the corner to the main restaurant--no hassle at all. Anna took great care of us. Pool tables are $1 per game and there's maybe 5-6 tables. My daughter won the chinese food claw game a few times and even got some jewelry so she was really excited. There's plenty of space and it's not fancy, but the kids had alot of fun and it's real laid back & casual. The lumpia was alight and the kids ate their hotdogs. Most who had the french fries liked them. I had the fried shrimp and wasn't impressed. There was thick crispy breading, but could taste alot of salt. I did not like it as much as some of the other dedicated seafood restaurants in town. The grits were just alright also. I guess my favorite was the sweet tea. The bathrooms were clean, but the soap dispensers didn't seem to work. The bartender/server was helpful and I liked the weird jukebox they had. This was our big event for the day and everyone in my family had a good time and enjoyed the visit.
