I've been here on multiple occasions, sometimes for the rice roll with fish balls and other occasions for the steamed rice rolls. I've generally come here on the weekends, so can't speak for the weekday hours. The owners are very nice and the service is efficient. I really like watching them make it because I think the box they use to cook it is really cool. I most recent had the beef stream rice roll and liked how much flavor the beef had. Per usual it came with soy sauce, sweet sauce, and peanut sauce. This trifecta is umami to me. Spicy sauce is also an option but I'm not into spice. I think this is my favorite rice noodle cart in Chinatown. It's super close to the B/D train on grand street. The map is a little off on it because it's on grand and Bowery (closer to Bowery) on the north side of the street. I've only experienced one lady because I go there at the same time and I can talk to her in English. She's really nice and super quick with taking the orders. She basically does three orders at once so you get it very quickly. They prices are also cheaper to the other noodle carts that are in the area. The other carts range from 3.50 to 4 for the same size but this lady charges 3. She's there very early in the morning so be warned! She also starts leaving at around 5:30ish. I wish she stayed open a little later so I could get it after work but it's more of a breakfast meal. If you're in the area definitely stop by and get curry rice noodles with fish balls! read more

You need to know one thing and one thing only: CHEUNG FUN! That's right. Cheung fun. Cheung fun are steamed rice rolls that they add soy sauce, peanut sauce and other tasty goodies to. I personally favor the ones with baby shrimp cooked right into them with some beef tripe on the side. It's amazing. They also have other tasty items like jong (Sticky rice with sausage and beans wrapped in bamboo leaves) and congee with 1000 year old duck eggs. So the next time you're on Grand Street, stop by this rice roll cart and ask for some Cheung Fun. At $2.50 for a medium sized container, you can't go wrong. read more

I got a small dry shrimp rice roll. The amount they give for the small size is what comes out of one tray. The service was fast and the food is freshly made in front of you. I'm not so sure I'd want to eat the ground beef or pork rice roll as the unknown meat comes from a plastic takeout container. You can add scallions on top with no extra cost -- so go ahead and add it. The soy sauce though is sub-par -- salty and lacking flavor. I would definitely go for hoisen or peanut sauce next time instead. Overall, I've had better but it's definitely more fresh than the rice rolls from the restaurants that are heated in the microwave. read more
