Specializing in Sichuan cuisine, its noodles are consistently delicious, with fresh ingredients and vibrant flavors. Yiwanmen (translates to one bowl of noodles in English) is a small family-owned restaurant in Chinatown. The storefront is tiny and only have 4 tables and some window seating. You order by the front then grab a table. The lady in the front who you order with will also bring you your food. Menu is not that elaborate -- about 8 noodle options and some buns / pancake selections. I couldn't decide whether to order the Chongqing noodles or the hot & spicy intestines noodles, but ultimately decided to try the Chongqing noodles since it seemed to be their signature. We also ordered the hot braised beef noodle. Our order didn't take long to arrive. First sip of broth and was disappointed by the lack of spiciness for both bowls of noodles even though it's supposed to be spicy noodles. We added some chili oil, which is on every table for use, but that didn't really do much for knocking up the spice level. Overall, while I was disappointed about the level of spice, I did enjoy the flavor of the broth and noodles. It was a delicious and affordable lunch for under $10/bowl of noodles -- which is what I love about Chinatown, especially during a time of inflation and rising food costs.
