I have a Wendy's within walking distance of work, but I pass it up in favor of driving 10 minutes to get a burger at Tony's Steamers. This place is everything you want in a local eatery: classic rock, photos of their sponsored Little League teams, cops from the sherriff's department, and the owners ringing up your order. Plenty of sports, soaps, and cable news on the 4 muted TVs, but easy enough to ignore. The place is kept clean even though the furniture feels a little old school, but that's part of the charm. I recommend the cheeseburgers and chicken wraps, but its probably the fries that keep me coming back. read more

2.5 stars, unfortunately. Nothing special here. Had a couple hot dogs and fries, and if you've ever had a great hot dog, like at Gene & Jude's, there's no way you could like these. For Vienna dogs, they were surprisingly tasteless, and small. And, like many other reviewers here, my bun was dry and not steamed. I also didn't like the skinny "shoestring" fries that you need to eat with a fork. But at least they weren't greasy and soggy like I've read about. The restaurant was nice, though, with lots of TVs, and seems like a good local option for people in the area, and I'm sure kids like the food. read more

Want to get a hot dog that is just as good if not better then Portillios for much cheaper this is the place to go. There hot dog special is what a Chicago hotdog should be. To start with they use Vienna Beef hot dogs and then when you get the special they rap it in the fries which keeps it nice and warm if you are getting take out. Also the staff here is always very nice and the service is quick while serving everything fresh. The fries here are also great they are super thin and always fresh. The burger isn't great but this is a hot dog place after all... If you are looking for a great hot dog in the burbs look no further. read more

This has been a sanctuary for me since I was 7 years old(25 now). I've always loved the service. They know you by name but never go over board. What else could you want? It has a very homie feel to it. The only thing that changes are the arcade machines. Leinenkugel's red pitchers are cheap all the time! They have super yummy gyros! Anytime I want one this is the place I go. They're pretty quick and prepping your order and polite. The place is definitely a little homey and old-school, but clean. I've tried their fish and chips before and they're not that great. You might as well go to a freezer and get them from there. However if you're looking for gyros then this is the place! read more

BEST HOTDOGS IN THE BURBS!! I've been eating at Tony's Steamers since I was in little league with Winfield In Action. I've lived in Chicago for the past 4 years and there are a couple places that stack up downtown but not in the burbs. The hotdogs are just so juicy with soft sesame seed buns and all the fixins including celery salt, pickle, tomatoes peppers and cucumber. Truly outstanding! read more

Jack of all trades and masters of none! Middle of the road eats and slightly higher prices. They have an extensive menu and they even serve beer on tap which is pretty cool. There's a counter/bar with a couple of stools that could not possibly see use because there's condiments and an old school tv that would hit your face if you took a seat. Most of the food is a lot like the other hotdog and burger joints with nothing to brag about but this place is more expensive. Sorry, there's no way a hot dog, pizza puff and Diet Coke should cost $10-$11. The pizza puff was $3.99 for Pete's sake!! The hot dog is Vienna which is the best but it was served on a dry bun. The onions were a few big chunks instead of mincing them up like the pros do. It came with the kind of fries you get from Jonnies beef in EP which is a bonus. Looking back in the kitchen, the cooks are not the pros you usually see slinging food in the back of the better places. These looked like some moms from the area. The place is clean and the service was good. I'd eat there again but I would have to watch for specials to make it fair. read more

This place does a great burger. Unfortunately, that's about it in terms of good food. Gyros is standard with sub-par sauce. Prices are fair. The service behind the counter is just so-so. They have plenty of regulars who keep them busy. They were way better 30 years ago then they are now. Nothing really sets them apart from every other hot dog joint in the area (aside from Scooby's, which is horrible). 2.5 stars is appropriate, so they luck out and get three here. read more

I ordered a gyro platter to go. The fries were stale, and the gyro was very dry and crunchy. Probably because it sat under a heat lamp for hours. I ordered an extra pita to go and was charged $1.40 for basically an extra bun. In a nut shell I paid almost 10 bucks for gyro flavored bark, and stale fries. Go to smokehouse in wheaton. 2 bucks cheaper, and great gyro. I'll never go back to Tony's. read more

I've had hot dogs from here twice. I've waited both times in the car with my kids while my husband picked them up. The dogs are cold and the buns are soggy and we order 'Chicago' dogs. These are gross. My husband told me the dogs were just sitting there they were not made to order and the only topping on them was onions. Eew these hot dogs suck! they were COLD! Who wants cold soggy hot dogs??? And this happened both times we went. No thanks never again. read more

i have always been a chicago hot dog lover. definitely one of my top foods. i have been going to steamers for several years now since i have moved into the area. i stopped by this past saturday (11-14-15) and had a jumbo HD w/fires with extra pickle and extra sport pep. TS did not disappoint! the HD was prepared well, neat and fulfilled my special order requests. ingredients, freshness and preparation are key to a good chicago HD. TS still has it. read more

I found out about Tony's from a bus driver one day and was surprised because I didn't know it was there even though I went to Walgreens in that shopping center regularly. The food is great and the staff has always been very nice, especially Jeff. My favorite is the Gyro Plate and the price is great! read more
