Oh do I want Tony's back! This place just doesn't get it. Huge menu, leads to frozen food. Guy prepping food could not have a nastier look on his face. Can't even do a hot dog right. This is what I was served hot dog and ?

RUDE OWNER, TERRIBLE FOOD, THREATENED WITH POLICE OVER HONEST FEEDBACK Me and my buddy live near what used to be "Tony steamers" now it's "steamers bbq" we wanted to give it a try since we've grown up around Tony steamers and their hot dogs, my buddy got a brisket plate with a side of fries and garlic bread, he paid about $25 for the whole thing, I myself got brisket and the beef burnt ends alongside fries and bread and paid about $34 plus a tip that wasn't even needed, my buddy had his doubts about the place cause once we had sat down he saw our brisket get pulled out of the fridge which makes us think it was just microwaved, although they have revamped the interior and it does look nice it definitely does not match the food, my honest opinion would be that this could pass as dog food, there's no smoke ring on the brisket and even the bbq sauce could be better, like I'd drench this in sweet baby rays and it MIGHT be better, the burnt ends are chewy and not tender chewy to say the least, the fries had no seasoning on them and I could get better fries from McDonald's, the garlic bread barely even had a taste of garlic AND ITS GARLIC BREAD, overall I'm NOT HAPPY with this food and how the new owners are trying to turn this place into a bbq spot, it definitely seems like they're trying to save money with their products and it's definitely showing, I honestly won't be back for any of the bbq cause that's how disappointing it is and might not even be back for the hotdogs cause I don't know if I could trust it to be good or at least edible cause I'll tell ya what, this bbq is on the brink of not being edible or enjoyable, don't waste your time or money with "Steamers bbq" cause it's no where near on par with decent food, very disappointing, very. Edit: went back day after to talk to owner RUDE OWNER, TERRIBLE FOOD, THREATENED WITH POLICE OVER HONEST FEEDBACK I visited Steamers BBQ yesterday with a friend, hoping the new ownership would uphold the quality and service Tony Steamers was known for. Unfortunately, our experience was nothing short of disappointing. We ordered to-go and took our food home. Once we opened the boxes, we were shocked at the lack of quality. * Fries: No seasoning. * Garlic Bread & Coleslaw: Bland and sad. * Brisket: GRAY in color with no smokering and somehow tasted gray too. * Burnt Ends: Dry and nearly inedible unless drenched in BBQ sauce, which I used my own cause none was provided I spent around $35 on my meal (including a tip I now regret), and my friend ended up ditching his plate entirely for 99-cent ramen -- which was miles better. The real problem, though, came today when I returned to calmly speak with someone about the poor experience. I wasn't aggressive, loud, or rude. I simply wanted to talk it through and see if someone would take accountability. Instead, the owner was immediately hostile. He approached me with a confrontational "what's the problem?" and quickly became dismissive and disrespectful. * He spoke over me. * Accused me of lying about what I ordered and how much I paid. * Kept repeating "our numbers don't match what you're saying" without even looking me in the eye. * Told me, "Sounds like your problem, not mine." * When I declined to ask a nearby family if they liked their food, which he had told me to do so I stated "no I'm here to talk to YOU about it" I don't even know why he'd bother to say such a thing as I'm sure they'd just like to enjoy their meal, he could've asked them himself to prove his point if he was so confident but of course he didn't. After he had enough of my honest opinion regarding this food he started walking away and said "I think you should leave" I said "are you serious is this how you treat your customers" and happily said yes while still walking away and after I tried to continue to see why he was so hostile and why so dismissive he continued to say "you should leave" even stated I should go before "it got bad" then shortly after threatened me with calling the police, not once had I raised my voice or had any malicious intent behind me, only time I raised my voice was once I was walking out the door I spoke up and said "have a good day" Let that sink in: I came in respectfully, as a paying customer, just to speak about a bad experience -- and he threatened me with the police instead of owning up to anything. Not a single staff member stepped in. No apology, no accountability, no professionalism. I feel sorry for what Tony's once-loved restaurant has turned into. If you value your time, money, or basic respect as a customer -- avoid this place. They serve subpar food and treat feedback like a threat. AVOID AT ALL COST‼‼

Jumbo Vienna Chicago style hot dog

This place is authentic. The atmosphere, the wait staff, the decor. Greated with a smile as soon as I walked in. I got 2 of the jumbo Vienna Chicago style dogs, and I wasn't disappointed. The taste was excellent , cooked just right. I like the wrapping made to look like newspapers. Adds a touch of nostalgia. I will definitely go back and highly recommend.

    Jumbo Hot Dog

Stopped by to try out this place, so I started with a jumbo hot dog everything on it. The jumbo hot dog was close to 6 bucks and it came with fries. The pickle was soggy and it also had cucumbers with celery salt. The dog had a different taste from what you would eat at Portillos or a hot dog joint. Not sure I can't describe the taste. It was pretty empty when I was there and it seems like a family restaurant although the have beer on draft and pitchers for 12.00 bucks ain't bad. They have a fish tank by where you order your food and the supports are two dirty cylinder blocks. I recommend removing them blocks because it makes the restaurant look dirty.

Food sucks. Older guy has a massive attitude problem. I'd rather eat at McDonald's.

Gone way down hill since Tony sold the business last week. No beer, and new owners charging .70¢ for an extra pickle SLIVER!

Maybe it was just a bad day for them today, but it was less than expected. Went with my wife and son for lunch. The young lady at the counter seemed to be having a bad day, at least I hope she was, because if she's like that every day, she shouldn't be working there. She had attitude and was short with us. It wasn't anything she said, but rather, the abruptness with her questions and overall demeanor. If we ordered anything on the side, or asked for something different than what usually comes on a sandwich, she huffed and eye rolled us. It didn't make us feel very welcome. We got a number and sat down and waited. When our food arrived, we were short one soda and a side of vinegar and oil. No worries there. I was taken back a little that we were charged 50 cents for water, $2.50 for one slice of Gouda cheese, and 50 cents for an oil and vinegar cup. There is also a 3% charge for using a credit card. The actual food was better before. My combo sandwich was somewhat bland. I remember the hot dog being bigger before. It went from a deli hot dog to a regular sized one. My wife thought the turkey burger was bigger before as well. Overall, I remember it being more flavorful in the past. My potato salad was still very good. The cannoli pieces were outstanding. The place was fairly crowded being Mother's Day, and the service was pretty quick. Turkey burgers take a while to cook. It's always lively but quiet in the restaurant which I like. I hope this was a one time dud experience, and I will be back, unless the cashier has another bad day, and the food is lacking taste.

Since our first visits, which were ONLY to pickup some corndogs, we have ventured further into their menu items. THIS is SIGNIFICANTLY better than just a good "hot dog joint!" When you order JUST GET IT AS DESCRIBED, because it certainly appears that great thought went into the selections. i am not posting pictures as there is no need. Everything looks the same as it does on the menu.

As always, when a restaurant you once loved gets new owners, you never know what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The food tasted almost exactly like how I remembered. We got two cheese dogs, one with just cheese and ketchup and one with cheese, ketchup, mustard relish and tomato. We also got cheese fries and onion rings (onion rings not pictured). The portions are nice and a small order for the onion rings and cheese fry were the perfect size for my mom and I to split. The cheese sauce is not just an artificial nacho cheese and was the perfect compliment. The onion ring batter was not greasy and had the perfect crunch. The inside was clean and updated. This is the standard "hole in the wall" set up that is perfect for locals. It's not crowded with tables, since there are about 6 true booths and then higher tops along the back wall. I could imagine it may be difficult to find seating on a Friday or Saturday night when it's busier, so be prepared. The pricing is a little different than it used to be, but everything in the world is now more expensive so can't complain! That being said- the pricing isn't ridiculous, it was $26 for all our food and drinks. I'd say this is very doable considering the area we live in isn't super cheap. The service was quick considering the food is made to order and not just sitting out. We waited about 10 minutes for our food and that was with 3 orders in front of us. My only recommendations would be: 1. I wish when I checked out they would have told me the bun for the cheese dog is plain and not poppy seed. My mom ordered a Chicago style dog with cheese sauce so hers was poppyseed, whereas mine was just plain. The food was still tasty though so I'm not upset! 2. I wish the cheese sauce cup was just slightly larger but there was still a decent amount 3. I was a little confused upon arrival because the menu wraps around the front of the cashier- not a big deal, I just lacked awareness :) Overall, my food was great, the quality was there, I walked out full and satisfied and had a great experience! I will definitely be going back, which I'm glad about because this was once a family favorite and I'm happy to keep it that way!
