I was so happy that I checked out this restaurant tonight. We started with the fried green tomatoes topped with a sherry cream sauce and giant lumps of crabmeat. This appetizer was particularly unique and very tasty. For dinner I tried the lobster mac & cheese. It was perfection. A very large serving of ultra creamy mac and cheese with huge chunks of perfectly cooked lobster with a light crumb topping. Delicious! By far the best dish of the night was the filet, which was recommended by the owner. I have worked at a steakhouse in the past, and know a lot about the quality of steaks. This filet was the most tender and succulent piece of meat I have ever eaten. It surpasses the quality of even the great steak houses like Ruth Chris. And if you are feeling creative, they offer a variety of toppings to add to your steak. Overall an amazing quality of meat at an extremely reasonable price. The service was friendly and accommodating. The decor was fresh and upscale casual. I am so happy this restaurant is open in Bel Air. I am sure it will become one of our favorite haunts. It is a real shame, this place has really great food. Unfortunately the management sucks. We ordered food, we are seniors. We first off were told there was a service charge of $2.00 for "boxes"--what they put the food in--due to increase in prices. I said o.k., my daughter sells food to restaurants, I know these are difficult times. I ordered shrimp tacos for him, splurged for stuffed shrimp for me. It comes with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I went on line, so was unaware the listed price was now like $8 more. But ok, again I get it. Except they left out the asparagus in my "box" and did not substitute, or take off for just stuffed shrimp and mashed potatos. The manager was unable to speak with me when I called back my phone server. The manager was supposed to call me this a.m. after ten. I am still awaiting the call, the mailbox is "full" and I will be out for a doctors appointment, as it is now 12:41. Besides being placed on a "brief" hold when I called in my order of over ten minutes before my server got back to me, maybe I'm just a grumpy senior, but this place sucks! read more

Ordered the wings on the happy hour menu, 10 pieces for $6. Although the price was excellent, the garlic parmesan flavor came out very bland not to mention greasy. The cream of crab was salty and there was very little crab meat. We ordered the Ulysees Seafood pasta that came with a great amount of mussels, crab meat and jumbo shrimp. The pasta was good but nothing to rave about. I can now cross this off my list of restaurants to try but will not be top of mind for my next restaurant trip. read more

By far my favorite items from what we ordered were the Tuna Tataki appetizer, the crab cake, the mahi special and the Cajun Penne, but everything we ordered was really good. I went here last night for the first time in over a year for a very late dinner. Our server was very friendly and quick with bringing drinks and our food. My table ordered a variety of food. I ordered the steak and cake sandwich, my boyfriend ordered the steak with crab cake, mashed potatoes and asparagus, and we ordered calamari was the appetizer. My steak was cooked medium (would probably order medium rare next time, but it was still great) and the crab cake was perfect! The steak that my boyfriend ordered was also a medium and it tasted pretty good. The calamari that we ordered as an appetizer was amazing! Cooked perfectly. Everyone else seems to enjoy their meals also. Steelefish has a few selections for craft beer which is awesome since I'm not a big fan of the typical "Coors Light, Miller Light, Bud Light" choices. I ordered the infinite by Jailbreak and really liked it. Live music started playing around 9pm, but it was in a separate and closed off room which was nice because it didn't interfere with dining. Overall, Steelefish is really great. I've never had a bad experience at this restaurant and hope to go back again soon. read more

Haven't eaten here since the change from Freddie's to Steelfish but I'm glad we went. We had a party of 12 and made reservations. This place can get very busy at peak times and parking outside can be an issue but once inside we got some drinks from the bar and were seated after maybe 10 mins. If you went here when it was Freddie's, nothing has changed inside. We were seated in the tented area to the rear which is heated in colder weather. Drew was our server and was awesome. The beer selection is reasonably good with some eclectic choices for the more adventurous. I had a watermelon dorado IPA which sounds awful but is actually very good. Food was excellent for all 12 of us. I had the country fried steak on a bed of mashed potatoes topped with a fried egg. Amazing. All in all, I think the new owners are on the right track. Boy or boy has this place gone down hill since the passing of the owner. Went there on a Friday afternoon for dinner with a small group. After being seated, no one would come over and wait on us. Several servers would walk by, but no one offered any help. After 20 minutes, walked up to the front and requested a server. After another 15, flagged down the manager. The server we finally got had as much of a personality as a rock. We had to constantly flag him from across the room to get him to come over.....and with restaurants begging for your business to stay open? Hi! My friends and I came in on Monday night. We sat outside, until the skies opened up and poured! We were quickly moved inside (they were busy, but not packed). Amelia our server was outstanding! I was nervous to be out at this time with Covid. She wore a mask, distanced herself appropriately, and provide excellent service. I was thankful and relieved. My boyfriend and I came here a on a Saturday night starving- could have eaten shoe leather and enjoyed it lol. The restaurant was steady but not busy for a Saturday night. We were seated outside with the heaters. It was comfortable and not too hot or cold for it being January. There were other tables surrounding with small children screaming. I get it, it happens. Parents deserve to go out to eat too. I'm assuming why they were placed outside. I wish we had been seated inside though as we don't have any children with us. Our waiter was to the point and efficient, though not as friendly as we're used to with service elsewhere. He seemed in quite a rush the whole night and wouldn't stick around long enough for me to order another drink. I started with a crush, it was filled with Ice, barely any liquor. I'm a bartender so I would know a good drink from a bad one. This one wasn't great. We ordered 6 oysters for $15. Not only overpriced, but watery, and very small. Extremely disappointing. The sirloin was cooked to medium how he asked but it was chewy and hard to cut. The mashed potatoes weren't anything special and could have came out of a box for all we know. Somehow bland and too much garlic at the same time. The asparagus was fine. I ordered the tuna tacos... or I should say sriracha tacos with a dash of tuna. I mean holy s**t. I couldn't taste anything besides the gobs of sauce they coated the fish in. The tuna was cooked rare how I asked. Too bad I couldn't taste it over the spice. The small side of jasmine rice was the best part of the meal lol. We definitely weren't going to try our luck with dessert. The waiter checked on us but didn't stick around long enough for me to mention being unsatisfied with the food. None of the cooking was his fault obviously, so we weren't upset with his service. Everything was sanitized visibly before patrons were sat. The food was amazing, hot, fast, and fresh. We split the Rockfish bites as the appetizer, they were light and battered perfectly. Rather lite on the toppings and not very warm. I had the stuffed shrimp. Expecting large butterfly shrimp with a tasty crab stuffing. I got regular sized shrimp with stove top stuffing. The cream sauce was sweet and cold. Not a compliment to the shrimp. I don't ever leave reviews, but this bothered me so I'm putting it here. I came in with my family on my birthday last week. Our waitress was wonderful and the food was great- except the cake. It wasn't bad but it also wasn't great, like maybe it was stale? I thought it tasted like beef Lmfao. We were making jokes and whatever just roasting this poor poor piece of cake. My dad gave our waitress sh*t about it in his "I will roast you lovingly" kind of way and maybe that made her feel like he was unhappy, idk, but she wanted to take care of us so she mentioned it the manager thinking it should be comped (we didn't ask for it to be comped by the way. At all.) I ate most of it and it was my birthday so they were going to pay for it regardless. BUT the manager was a totally ass about it. Like came to the table, arms crossed, stood over us and said in so many words: "we'll what's the problem? You ate it all" and stormed off. It felt rude and dismissive honestly, and there was no reason for it. We didn't ask for him to come to our table and berate us over...cake?! Our waitress was actually mortified that he even came over to talk to us about it because that didn't seem to be her intention. More so she was just giving him a heads up that maybe they had stale product, idk From a management standpoint it just wasn't an appropriate or productive conversation to have with a customer, and from a customer's standpoint it was completely and totally unnecessary. Kind of embarrassing because we were just having fun with it. What a wonderful venue for a party! We hosted my Mom's birthday party at Steelefish Grille this weekend. The staff was fabulous from beginning to end. They helped to pick a great food and drink menu, provided excellent service to guests, and helped us pack up at the end. My husband and I have been regulars at Steelefish for quite a while now. There are 2 reasons we will never stray...the bar staff AND the food! The bar manager, Scott, has taken care of us since day 1 and is the reason we come back over and over again. In addition to being a fantastic and creative bartender, he has hired and maintains a spectacular staff! Maddie, Natalie, TJ, and Josh know how to treat customers! Their service is spectacular and Scott leads by example! The dynamic of this crew only exceeds their ability to service customers. When someone loves their job, customers can tell!! We arrived on a busy Saturday evening in the summer. With no wait, we were seated, ordered a spicy margarita and a watermelon crush and a couple of waters. Our server was delightful and when my husband asked a hundred questions about the menu, she was patient and answered without rolling her eyes. He ordered the broiled seafood platter with scallops, shrimp and grouper. His reaction was "this is great. I didn't even know I like Grouper". I was not super hungry so I got the Maryland crab soup and fried green tomatoes. The soup was the best I have had. Perfectly spiced and a lot of sweet crab meat. Tomatoes were delicious and also had a lot of crabmeat topping. I highly recommend this place. The seating is spaced perfectly. You are not so close that you are forced to listen to other people's conversations. Oh, I must add that they did not make me sit with dirty plates in front of me for a long time. What a horrible experience... We went into a large, empty restaurant except for a couple at one table. The hostess wanted to seat us in the booth right next to them and I said "no." It is such a pet peeve of mine when a restaurant seats patrons for the convenience of the wait staff with no consideration about how uncomfortable it is to sit jammed up next to the only other people in the place.
