    Bacon wrapped tri tip
    Stephanie T.

I got the bacon wrapped tri tip that was pretty good. I asked for medium rare and it was definitely overcooked for my liking. The zucchini fries are rather bland on their own but we're good with the ranch dressing. The salad and fries were good, we well as their strawberry lemonade. The staff were helpful. The place has plenty of tables to it.

The house door is very welcoming and The ambiance is western. The servers are nice and attentive. The food overall is mediocre. Honestly nothing bad but nothing great.

I was working in the area and was passing by and saw that it had decent reviews so decided to stop by and try it out. I'm so glad I had this opportunity and when in the area again plan to visit again! I had the hickory bacon burger ! It was juicy and full of flavor and cooked perfectly the way I like it! It had thick bacon strips and the buns were warm and just made the burger even better! The service provided by Suzanne was great and friendly and the ambiance is older, rustic, western feel to it! I was so impressed by the burger and the juiciness of it that I will definitely make back and eat here again! Maybe next time I will try their steak !

Togo order missing rice pilaf on one plate and missing steak fries on the other plate I called and they said I should've checked my order

If they messed up on them to go order, they don't make it right and they don't care. Moreno valley steer n stein my order was missing two items they told me I should've checked my order and this one time they will allow me to come pick up those items, but I live 30 minutes away. They did not care.

I came here with my husband and in laws to celebrate Mother's Day dinner together. This was my first time here and immediately observed that it was popular with many guests and their families. We were a party of 5 and waited a little under 30 minutes to be seated. We ordered potato skins to share as an appetizer. They were tasty and came out quick. As an entree, I got the Specialty Steak with a garden salad and mashed potatoes. My steak had good flavor, was very tasty but a little tough to cut. In addition, I understand it was a holiday weekend, but service felt a little rushed and not too friendly. Overall, we had an enjoyable time still and I'd love to return to try the ribs.

Stockyard with mushrooms and side of fries
    Mary D.

My husband and I ordered out since we've heard some good things and were in the mood for a more hearty dinner. My husband ordered the stockyard with some mushrooms added on, and that really elevated his steak. It went from a solid 8/10 to a 10/10 in flavor. I didn't take pictures of the steak cut open, but they were both very juicy and flavorful. I ordered the steak and ribs, and the ribs had a great flavor from the sauce. I'll definitely be adding in more mushrooms with the steak next time as well. The fries were good but a bit less on the crispy side. As for the coleslaw, it was a bit too sweet for my taste, but the crunch of the vegetables made them feel nice and fresh. When we went to pick up, the restaurant was very clean and lively. Next chance we get, we'll probably dine out and enjoy the service.

Ambiance: has a real steakhouse look, if that makes sense. Nothing amazing, casual is for sure the vibe here and there's nothing wrong with that. If you've been to a Steer N Stein before you know the setup. Could it use an upgrade? Sure but won't make it break how you're experience will be. Service: they were slightly busy but still felt I could've seen more o our waitress. She set the food down and we really didn't see her until we needed the check. Which means I couldn't ask for my undercooked food to be cooked more. And we weren't able to get our condiments that we wanted. 1 star for service. Food: so if you are going to have thicker cuts, you gotta learn how to cook them. First, they should've butterflied it so it cooked even. Half my steak was rare the other was medium rare. I asked for medium. My fries which were definitely frozen weren't cooked right. When I was ready for the check, the waitress came and seen they weren't cooked right and brought another batch, that wasn't cooked right either lol salad is solid that unfortunately was the best part of the meal. Was it an off night? Possibly. Would I recommend this to you? Eh, it is one of the only steakhouses in Hemet. Not sure how the others are, maybe if you catch here on a good night. But I'd say, try others first.

I got the Ribeye, medium rare, with mashed potato's. First one came out well done, and the mash was cold. Had to send it back. Second try came medium, with vegetables. Okay whatever. I need about 15% because I was very hungry. And then every bite I took after that was worse than the last bite. The whole thing was soaked in grease at the bottom of that hot plate that was continuing to cook my steak. Mushrooms were cold. Vegetables was a small portion, the server noticed it and brought me out another bowl of vegetables. After a few bites, I noticed roughly a quarter inch of butter at the bottom of the bowl. I ate about 20% of the meal in it's entirety. I paid my bill, left the server over 20% tip and said merry Christmas. I did let the manager know my thoughts on my meal. She said sorry it's not normally bad. I'm 20 minutes after my meal now as I type. I feel terrible. What a garbage steak.

Not going to say it was the best I've had, but it was drinkable. Recommend: I recommend the birria tacos, they were pretty good. The carnita tacos were a hit out miss. I personally wouldn't go back since I have the same store close to my house that sell the food as well, but for any locals I'd say it's good enough for them and for anyone traveling, I'd recommend they try when I mention just know this isn't a real restaurant type or sports bar as you may think. It's not bad, it just lost some of what made it stand out. The food is still really solid though, which is why I keep coming back. The aguachile is one of the best things on the menu, super fresh with a good kick, and the tacos are consistently done right. Simple, clean, and you know what you're getting every time. It's a nice sit-down restaurant if you want to actually relax and eat instead of rushing through a meal. Service is usually solid even when it's busy. Fair warning, it gets packed after church and the wait can build up quick, so timing matters if you don't want to sit around. Not the same as it used to be, but still worth it for the food.

For most of the night, I had a great time minding my own business, watching videos quietly on my phone in a corner of the bar. As I was getting ready to leave, a random guy sitting nearby asked me to lower the volume on my phone. Whether he intended to be polite or not, it felt condescending, territorial, and completely unnecessary. They were speaking louder than my phone, yet somehow my phone was the issue. It honestly felt like a case of "local syndrome," where someone felt empowered to tell me what to do in a place that isn't theirs. I didn't want to create a scene, so I generously tipped the bartender and left. But I was genuinely upset that I was told to be quiet while I was simply minding my own business in a corner. The place itself does not deserve a bad review because of the actions of one customer. However, if this person is in any way connected to management or staff, I would seriously reconsider my rating and change it to one star--something I never done before. I think a little more compassion and understanding toward fellow customers would go a long way.

Hey Brian, I wanted…read moreto reach out about something that happened tonight that I feel you should know about. I also want to be clear that all of this transpired after you had already left for the evening. For context, I'm a regular at the bar and have been coming in for quite a while. I've never had a major issue with Brent or Steven, even though they both have personalities that can come across as sarcastic or abrasive. I've generally let it go because my reason for coming to the bar is simple: I come in to have a few beers, relax, and enjoy myself. Tonight, while I was still drinking one of my beers and had some left in the glass, Brent came by and took it away as if I was finished. I jokingly said something along the lines of, "I guess you're not going to let me finish the last bit." I wasn't upset and wasn't trying to start an argument. It was an obvious mistake that could have been solved with a simple apology. Instead, he responded with a snarky comment rather than acknowledging the mistake. Later, he brought another beer to my table. I made eye contact with him and before I could even say anything, he asked, "Do you want to say something to me?" I replied, "No, I just wanted to say thank you." His response was, "Your eyes are telling me differently." Again, I found that unnecessarily confrontational and disrespectful. At that point, I decided to leave a $0 tip. I normally tip very well, often around 30% or more, and this was the first time I've intentionally left no tip because I wanted to send a message that I was unhappy with the way I was being treated. After that, Steven came over and confronted me about leaving no tip. He asked if I was really zeroing it out and questioned me about whether something had happened between me and Brent. I told him that whatever issue I had was not his concern, and he responded, "Fair enough." I assumed that would be the end of it. Instead, Brent came outside and confronted me. He told me Steven had said I had a problem with him. I explained that I didn't have a personal problem with him; my issue was his attitude and the way he was treating me as a customer. Rather than listening, he became increasingly hostile. I reminded him that I'm a customer and that I'm only there to buy beer from the business. I'm not there to deal with sarcasm, attitude, or an employee's emotions. As a paying customer, the minimum I expect is basic respect. I shouldn't have to walk on eggshells or accept being spoken to disrespectfully while simply trying to enjoy a beer. That confrontation ended poorly and he went back inside. A short time later, he came back out and confronted me again, this time in front of other customers. The situation became even more uncomfortable because it was happening publicly. During that exchange, he ultimately told me that I was not welcome back. Again, I reminded him that I am a paying customer whose only purpose in being there is to support the business and enjoy a beer. I should not be getting into arguments with employees, being confronted in front of other patrons, or being told I'm not welcome because I expressed concerns about how I was being treated. The bigger issue is that, in my opinion, this isn't just about tonight. This has been months in the making. I've noticed a pattern with both Brent and Steven where they seem to have become comfortable treating customers with attitude and sarcasm in ways that shouldn't be acceptable in a customer-facing role. I've overlooked it many times because I enjoy the bar and didn't think it was worth making an issue out of. On the other hand, employees like Kim, Josh, and David have always treated me and other customers with professionalism and respect. They know how to joke around while still making customers feel welcome. I've never had an issue with them. From my perspective, the problem is specifically Brent and, to a lesser extent, Steven. Brent especially has developed a demeanor that I find unwelcoming, confrontational, and disrespectful toward customers. I don't think I'm the only person who feels this way. Tonight was simply the point where it crossed a line. I'm not sending this because I want anyone fired or punished. I simply think you should know what happened, especially since it all occurred after you had left. I've spent a lot of time and money at your establishment over the years, and I would hope that customers--especially regulars--can expect basic courtesy and respect from the people serving them. I wanted to give you my side of the story directly. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
