Stefanina's food quality is really going down. Our family has been going to this restaurant since 1999 when we moved to the area. It used to be one of our favorite places. Recently, last night in particular, Jan. 28, 2020, the food was actually BAD. The last few times we went there I noticed the food was bland. Last night, I ordered baked cod with broccoli and a side of Sicilian vegetables. My husband ordered Pasta con Broccoli and side salad. The cod was either old, frozen too long and overcooked. The Sicilian vegs were a joke and I threw them away. I told my husband that my food was awful and he said that was odd since we liked the restaurant. He ate his Pasta con Broccoli later and said he only took a few bites and threw it away. Stefanina's management, we don't know what is happening, but you should fix it and hire a new chef before your once great business is another vacant building in St. Charles County, MO. Over the past few years (since moving to the area) I've been here more times than I can count. Each time I get a wonderful pizza with various toppings, a salad, and occasionally fried chicken livers as an appetizer. I was always tempted to try the tons of other menu items, but always gave in and stuck with pizza. This time though I finally decided to try something completely different and order the Fried Chicken Dinner which consists of half a chicken, one side (I got fries), and salad. The fries were average fries, and the salad was honestly nothing more than iceberg lettuce, shredded cheese, and two cherry tomatoes, but the fried chicken was phenomenal. The crust was crisp and had a wonderful flavor. It was not greasy or fatty. I was shocked and surprised that a pizza joint had such good fried chicken. Near the end I was picking off every tiny piece of crust I could. My wife decided to stick with pizza, but threw in the added twist of ordering the Gluten Free pizza crusts (as a side note, we noticed on the table, the little table teaser had a list of some of their gluten free items for customers with gluten sensitivity). She was not disappointed. The pizza was just as good as a regular crust pizza. So other than the average fries, and the lackluster dinner salad, this experience was a really positive one. And I can promise that I will definitely order the fried chicken again! It's going to make things tough though, because I know I'll be indecisive about whether to get pizza or fried chicken. I came here for a dinner with my husband and friends. It's a local classic that since I am a new transplant I felt I needed to experience. The vegetarian options are very limited to iceberg salads and deep fried veggies with meat sauce on the side or pizza. I wont punish the place for the low veggie options. Our table ordered cheddar cheese balls (deep fried breaded cheese) and the guys ordered hot wings. The cheese balls were ok- the ones at Blueberry Hill are a lot better. The hot wings were good- according to the guys - but they were very messy and the server didn't bring enough napkins. My salad came out next and it was a pile of iceberg lettuce shredded provel cheese and two cherry tomatoes. It was bland and lackluster. Even ranch dressing couldn't get me to finish it. For my entree I ordered pasta con Broccoli which had lots of flavorless sauce and very little Broccoli - more like some green flecks. I added some shaker parm on the top just to get some sort of flavor. I also left most of that on the plate. The guys had cheeseburgers, and they were out of the pretzel buns that were ordered- but we didn't find out about that until after the food was delivered to the table and we enquired after the buns. They said the burgers were also flavorless and tasted like frozen pre-formed patties. The unimpressive flavorless offerings took a star away from the review, and the lack of communication from the kitchen to the staff to the table also took away a star. This was my first visit. I had carefully read many of the Yelp reviews. We came on a Saturday night and the parking lot was PACKED. "Good sign", I thought. Our wait was only 20 minutes and we spent that time in the bar which wasn't crowded. Now to the important stuff - the food was great. There were 5 in our party. We ordered salads, cheese garlic bread, toasted ravioli, Taco Pizza (I'm including a picture), Canadian bacon & pineapple pizza and baked manicotti. To put it simply, everything was delicious. Our service was fast and courteous. Water glasses were always kept full and our waitress made sure we had everything we needed. The icing on the cake was how reasonable the prices were. Horrible delivery service. They should just do dine in. I've ordered many times over the years and I always seem to call back and have them come back due to them forgetting stuff. Just twice this month this has happened. First time they forgot all sides of dressing, sauces, extra condiments. We had tipped $10! When we called back, the girl blamed it on someone else. Tonight we ordered again. We asked the girl to please double check our order, because the previous time, things had been forgotten. She said she would. We got our order, tipped the guy $7 this time (we ordered less food). We're missing an entire $8 chef salad! We called the Stephanina's on Veterans Memorial for delivery and ordered cheddar cheese balls, house salad and a large meat lovers pizza. They were very busy I could tell but it came to us in a timely manner and the food was excellent! I am not a fan of St Louis style pizza but the meat lovers pizza was the best pizza I have ever had. That is saying something since I grew up in Kansas City and do not care for St Louis style pizza at all though my husband loves it. Stefanina's is the perfect example of St. Louis style pizza (much better quality than Imo's). Appetizers, Salads, and other entrees are also very well done here. I personally recommend the chicken parmigiana, which comes with very generous servings of chicken, and is covered in delicious cheese and pasta sauce. While we normally love Stefanina's, you guys failed us tonight. I understand that Friday nights are extremely busy nights for any type of pizzeria, especially one with awesome pizza. What I struggle with is when we call in an order, take the pizza and head home, only to realize once we get home that it's the wrong pizza. When we order the Stef's special with everything, we do not want just a pepperoni pizza-- especially for the price that you charge. We called as soon as we realized it was the wrong pizza, and even waited several minutes before going back to get our new pizza, knowing it was a busy night. Clearly they did not have our correct pizza ready or even close to ready, because after arriving 15 minutes after calling, I still had to wait another 30 minutes for my pizza-- the pizza that had been ordered an hour before. 45 MINUTES TO GET THE CORRECT PIZZA AFTER GETTING THE WRONG ONE is inexcusable even when you're busy. Our "correction pizza" should have been made and put in the oven as soon as someone hung up the phone with us instead of putting us at the back of the line. That was why we called in our order so early! We called at 5pm to beat some of the dinner rush. Instead, we are now left 2 HOURS LATER just now eating dinner at 7pm. Again, I understand busy times, but when you make a mistake it shouldn't take an hour to correct it. That will definitely cause us to pause next time we consider ordering from you guys. read more

Stefanina's pizza is a Saint Louis style pizzeria located in O'Fallon Missouri. What differentiates Saint Louis style pizza from other variations is an emphasis on a thin crispy crust, sweet rather than spicy sauce and the use of provel cheese rather than mozzarella. Of the many places I've tried serving Saint Louis style pizza over the years, Stef's is easily my favorite for a few reasons. First off the quality of the crust, the crust has a level of crispiness not often found by other Saint Louis area pizza joints. I believe they are using some kind of brick oven to achieve this texture. The second thing is the cheese, the provel cheese used here is softer and a little wetter than most Saint Louis style Pizza. Finally the fact that they don't skimp on toppings, sausage, bacon and even jalapeno. This means you get every bit of topping for your money. Overall, Stefaninia's blows the big Saint Louis style Pizza chains like Cecil Whitakers and Imo's out of the water. It has been a long time since I last had Stefanina's pizza...maybe 5 years. This place is a local favorite, and a staple establishment in the heart of O'Fallon.....Been here for decades. I decided I wanted to order a pizza and egg plant parmegiano, because I could have swore this had good pizza all them years back. I look at the pictures of all the pies loaded with mounds of toppings, and it reminded me of all the good times of back when. All I wanted to do was order for delivery. This place says it delivers so no problem right? Wrong. I called, and called, and called. Several times within an hour. I was doing tasks here and there between calls, but I was very persistent. I just wanted some damn Stefanina's pizza. The phone never rang, beeped, to tell it was busy, nothing. Being crazy for this place for some reason. I decided....Hell....I'll drive up there and order in person for take out...yea I was nuts that day. I get up there and the place is Slammin'. Jam packed with people, and people in line to pick up their take out. I see the cooks in the back crankin' out pies and pastas, and the cashiers ring out customers, placing orders, and taking calls.................taking calls!? Up next. Bust out my phone and interrogate. "I've been calling for the past hour, is this the right number?"....Her response "Yes". I cry my pains. All she could say is we're busy. Fine. No big deal. Understandable. Their phone ordering system absolutely sucks. I'm here, I wanted it that bad, I'm ordering. On to the food. The eggplant parmigiano, although toppled with red sauce and provel....it left nothing to be desired for. Over cooked, soggy, and overpriced. The side salad underwhelming with just lettuce and provel.....just lettuce and provel...not even red onion or olives? The vegetable medley was steamed just right though. The colors were bright, not over cooked, and had the right crunchy bite. The pizza. Ordered my favorite simple two topping pie....pepperoni and tomato. I felt deceived. Is this crust pre-made frozen crust? The kind from U.S. Foods? Canned diced tomatoes? Not fresh? Not cool...definitely had better...even by CWP standards...I ordered from them later on and they had....you wouldn't believe it.....fresh diced tomatoes as their toppings... Delicious St. Louis thin crust pizza (on a cracker!) with that famous provel cheese creaminess and flavor. Salads with more provel. Great service with friendly faces. A bar. Family and friends. Those last two you have to bring yourself - everything else is provided in great abundance by Stefanina's. I moved away from St. Louis 15 years ago but come back regularly for family, friends, and gooey butter cake. And the past 4 or 5 trips have taken me down the path to Stefanina's. At first I was worried - another "Imo's" clone, I thought, or worse - a Cecil Whitaker's clone (which is just a cheaper version of Imo's). But the atmosphere was homey - darker, with lots of tables and booths, and a cute little bar area. There are lots of larger tables and Stefanina's is very accommodating to our larger group. The service is still fast - I never want for a refill, and the pizza comes out fresh and hot. Salads arrive well before the pizza and are loaded with the good bits of lettuce, cheese, and croutons. No "iceberg only" salad here - though it doesn't have the fancy shmancy lettuce either. Oddly, their caesar has quite a bit of provel as well - not a typical caesar, but still delicious. As one more note. My sister has run some of the nicer restaurants in St. Louis and it's nice to go out and be greeted and treated like a mini-celebrity. And when she's not "working" she comes to Stefanina's. To me, that's the sign of a good restaurant. If you want a good bar, find out where the bartenders go. So not gonna lie, I'm a little confused about why people like this place so much. I came here today for the first time after hearing about it from locals off and on. A customer took myself and some co-workers here since we were doing some work at their facility which is in the area. I ordered a soup and a salad and I had to specify "NO provel" on the salad, I requested mozzarella instead. Now, I am not one of those "provel must die, it is from Satan!" types of out-of-towners, but rather I only prefer it on pizza. I wasn't in a pizza mood, though, so I just went with the soup and salad. The salad was so boring. The best thing that I can say about it is that it did not contain any brown lettuce. There was ONE, count it, ONE tomato on top. No black olives, no onions, and not even any croutons! It came with packs of salted crackers instead. Also they do put the dressing on the side which is nice, because I almost forgot to ask, but turns out this is standard protocol. Nothing worse than a drenched salad! It wasn't bad but it could have been so much better. The soup was hard for me to eat. I got the Italian Wedding Soup and it was SO damn salty. I think I must have had my entire glass of water because it was so salty. The meatball was a little peppery but didn't have very good flavor at all. It was not rich and meaty like my mom's homemade wedding soup meatballs. The soup also came with crackers. What is it with this place and crackers? LOL. Thankfully we got some dinner rolls too and this weird butter spread stuff (why not just bring real butter?) and the dinner rolls were easily the best part of the meal. Now obviously I didn't try their pizza but now I am a bit afraid to because of how salty the soup was. My coworker had one of the small personal pizzas for lunch and it looked really dried out. Like overcooked. It didn't even really smell like anything, which was weird to me as pizza usually smells like sex when it comes out of the oven. Another coworker ordered canneloni and it actually looked pretty dang delicious so maybe if I come here again I should order that? Prices were low, so that's the best I can say about Stefanina's. We went for lunch today at my SO's request. When we first started dating it was one of the places we went and had a nice time and feeling nostalgic we decided to visit today. As it happened, we had made this decision yesterday and I had pulled up their website for some reason and found that if you made a "reservation" at certain times you could get a discount on your meal. So we made one for 11am today for 20% off. We arrived and were promptly greeted and seated, our server showed up within a minute or two and got our drink order. We settled on a combo platter which has probably six different things on it and I ordered the toasted cannelloni and she ordered the Pasta Con Broccoli, each of us chose a salad as well. The salads and combo platter arrived quickly. The salad is nothing overly special although I do appreciate the amount of provel on it and the fact that the dressing is on the side. The combo platter was hot and fresh and everything on it was wonderful. Our entrees - well she really liked hers, as it was I for whatever reason wasn't very hungry by then so we took mine to go; but I've had it before and it's always been good. Our server was attentive and very friendly the entire time. Our bill after our 20% came to just under $30 which I thought was reasonable considering the appetizer we ordered and the fact that we ordered off of the dinner menu. I do have a few minor quibbles; nothing major enough to remove a star, but they are worth mentioning. The first is that they brought out two rolls with our entrees (or maybe with our appetizer and salad, I forget) - but they are at room temperature and I really don't like that. I prefer warm bread - minor quibble. The other was the portion sizes; we paid dinner prices for our entrees (I believe around $9.50 for each) and mine consisted of the two toasted cannelloni and nothing else and her bowl of pasta looked more like what I would expect from a lunch portion. I just thought for nearly $10 they both should've been a little bigger, but she was happy with hers so perhaps my expectations are off a bit. Stefanina's is your typical St. Louis pizzeria. The pizza is good (as long as you like St. Louis style). The service is ok, not awesome, but not bad either. Dining in they are generally crowded and there is a wait on weekends and sometimes the food takes longer than you would normally want to wait. Make sure to get appetizers, you may need them. Their delivery service is a mixed bag. We still get it because the pizza is really good, but they must only have one phone line because the number is constantly busy and the delivery times are almost always 45 minutes or more - usually close to an hour. Occasionally the pizza is colder than you want. If you have these expectations (good food, ok, sometimes slow service) you won't be disappointed. If you're expecting better or speedier service, I'd go elsewhere. read more

This place is awesome and reasonable for good Italian food. I consistently get the Taste of Italy dish with cream sauce. It's so good. It's creamy and delicious. The flavors are delicious. I just love eating it. This past time, I ordered the seafood ravioli and that was super delicious. The meat was lobster and was seasoned well. I might order that again. The pizza is good too. There isn't a lot of sauce on the pizza, but there is a lot of toppings on the pizza. The pizza crust is also crispy, which is just the way I like it. They are getting ready to celebrate their 30th birthday at this (first) location. We had a couple of dinner salads and a sausage a pepperoni pizza. This is St. Louis Style pizza with provel cheese. It's about as good a version as I've had anywhere, but if you don't like provel, you probably won't like this either. It's not likely we'll be back anytime soon, but if you're the kind of person who likes Imo's or some other lesser quality provel-slining pizza places, you'll want to give Stefanina's a try. read more

During my years living away from St. Louis, I probably missed St. Louis-style pizza the most... well, of any food, that is. Of all the pizza places I missed, I missed Stefanina's the very most. I can't say enough about the pizza - the crust is light and cracker-thin, the cheese is very gooey and melty, and the toppings are plentiful. The salads are just as good - they are always cold and crisp. For some reason, it seems like Stefanina's is always viewed as a distant third behind Imo's and Cecil Whitaker's when it comes to provel-based pizzas. However, if you have never tried Stefanina's, you really need to. Nothing else can hold a candle to it. Even their worst pizza is better than the best pie at Imo's. It defies description. I had a previous experience at this location that was less than stellar. Their service was not good and we had kind of just agreed to never come to this location again. Fast forward to this past Thursday when I had a serious pasta craving for lunch. Called up, placed an order and picked it up. Placed 2 orders, one for a coworker and one for myself. The portions for their lunch pasta were huge. Everything was very warm and delicious and they give you a nicely portioned side salad with it.
