STEM Floral - A bouquet I got for my SO's birthday. - Florists Near Me - San Diego, California

I recently ordered a custom bouquet from Stem Floral located in Scripps Ranch to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. This was a very special occasion, and I spent over $100 hoping to receive an arrangement worthy of such an important milestone. In fact, I would have gladly spent more had I known the quality would match the occasion. Unfortunately, I began noticing signs of deterioration the very afternoon I picked up the bouquet. A few flowers already appeared to be struggling, and within four days the arrangement had declined significantly. Concerned, I contacted Stem Floral. My message: "I'm concerned that the bouquet did not last. I picked them up on May 30th, and it's not looking too good after only 5 days." Stem Floral's response: "Sorry to hear you're concerned with your arrangement! Just from looking at the photos I can tell the water hasn't been changed and is very low, that can be one of the biggest issues with florals lasting. We suggest trimming your stems and changing your water every couple days to keep bacteria from growing and killing the flowers. We never guarantee a lifespan of flowers but we do guarantee fresh flowers -- everything for your arrangement was bought the day before your pickup. If you would like to bring it in I would be happy to replace the dying flowers and get it looking fresh again for you!" I replied that the water had, in fact, been changed the day after pickup and that some flowers were already showing signs of decline on the first day. After that, I never received another response. To me, the flowers were simply not fresh. The suggestion that I load a large vase full of water and a rapidly dying bouquet into my car and drive it back to the shop was not a practical solution. More importantly, by that point roughly 80% of the arrangement would have needed replacement, something I seriously doubt would have happened. What disappointed me most was not just the bouquet's short lifespan, but the lack of follow-up after I explained the situation. A special anniversary arrangement should bring joy, not frustration. When a customer raises a legitimate concern, they deserve more than a one-time response and then silence. The lack of communication ultimately spoke louder than anything else. Based on my experience, I was left with the impression that customer satisfaction was not a priority. read more

These unwelcoming little b's will walk right by you without so much as a greeting. The counter employee from this morning literally rolled her eyes when my husband asked for a tropical bouquet. Lol it was his very first question after saying good morning to her! He was told that none were available even though he was the first customer of the day. So he asked if something colorful could be arranged from the fresh wall of flowers behind her...there were hundreds of loose flowers in buckets like any other flower shop. She said no, he could only choose from the tiny cheap looking arrangements at the desk. It was the oddest thing. Unfortunately the mini dehydrated bouquets were the only colorful option. Another Greedy business. Planning a lunch party a month ahead, naturally I end up at Stem Floral asking for a quote because its my neighborhood. A Nice, polite and knowledgeable employee called Ella, greets me nicely and after discussion about my needs, gives me a detailed quote according to the flowers, #of blooms and greenery selected, # of bouquets and # small arrangements I want and it ends up about $50 each items. Total order would have been at the end, something around 500$ or more cause I was planning on ordering a few more. Happily, I get a screenshot of her quote and leave. back home, I send an e-mail confirming my order, the price and telling them I'll come to pay a deposit the next week. When I get there, Ella wasn't at the store and another person asks me the occasion and I disclose that it's an "engagement lunch party". She tells me the price might be more like $60 than $50. Ok. I am not thrilled and I am wondering if it's because they now know it's an engagement party..so they want to charge more? The young lady doesn't appreciate my comment and is being agressive limit rude obviously frustrated. As a customer with a quote from them in hand, I feel offended. She says to come back and discuss with the owner ( Madison) who happens to be her sister... I come back this time with my daughter to finalize and pay the deposit. The owner à first is not very welcoming when she sees that it's me, she has the initial quote I was given by Ella in her hand : per items (25 to 30 blooms + greenery) I and Ella had selected according to season. Ella is still nowhere to be found that day. Madison (owner), tells us that engagement arrangements and the bouquets are going to be $200 each instead of $50 originally quoted. ! and that her employee Ella, was out of her mind to offer a bouquet at 50$. I mentioned my surprise specially when her sister had told me it would be likely $60.... Naturally, we did not use this greedy business, we found a ton of other places cheaper who care about treating their customers with respect, and we went somewhere else where we finally got our fabulous arrangements and bouquets and where the initial quote matched the final price. In addition, we were treated with respect and professionalism and the content of the arrangements and the bouquets was more classy and spectacular than what Stem floral was offering. read more

This was my first time ordering from STEM and I have to say I'm very disappointed. I ordered a small bouquet with blue flowers for a four year old to receive after her dance recital. I told them I would pick it up at 11 on Saturday. I showed up at 11:30 and was told they haven't even started it yet. They would be starting it shortly. STEM flowers are always beautiful and fresh! I usually choose from your selections, but Tuesday I required an arrangement for a salon opening. I explained that the salon colors were white, beige and green. I didn't want the arrangement to stand out, I wanted it to blend into the decor. Then I was asked " what about color"? I reiterated that I didn't want other colors, such as pink, orange, etc. I was also surprised to hear that you didn't have any assortment of different "greens", that they were all the same shade of green. I would have been satisfied with the small selection there as I asked for peonies and there were some leftover. I was astonished at the cost of the bouquet at $85 but needed the flowers for an afternoon wedding. The flowers were not looking good when they were picked up and barely lasted through the service. To say I am unhappy with the state of the flowers goes without saying and I see the exact bouquet on the website advertised at $35. I just found out that a florist had opened up the flower stand at the Scripps Ranch Blvd Vons Center, so I stopped in to get some flowers for our wedding anniversary.
