Fried chicken with potato salad and collards greens

I think I've stated this before, but Stephanie's never disappoints. If you want good soul food this is the place. I always get the fried chicken but this time I tried the potato salad and it was delicious. Also, you can't go wrong with the Obama (half tea and half lemonade).

I keep hoping after all these years,Stephanie's would bring the "soul" into their soul food and improve their customer service. Neither has happened and I'll just say, keep your hard earned money and go and cook for yourself. The improvements which are needed in this old Quincy steakhouse building are the same as it was in the early 2000s over 25 years ago. I really want to be able to support a minority and female owned establishment but wow, they make it hard. On this visit, a woman was waiting on a smothered turkey wings dinner and had waited over an hour and was never advised they were out. Just pour customer service and they didn't even bother to try to make it right. At the least, restaurant should have refunded her money and gave her a free dinner for her time. Just poor Service overall.

4 Chicken Wings Dinner with Mac & Cheese & Candied Yams.

Funny story,15 years ago we came to Stephanie's after my cousin's graduation from NCA&T and today we stopped here for some good southern cuisine as we sent my daughter off to college at NCA&T and it was still as good as I remembered then. Pat yourself on the back because that says A LOT! Anthony greeted us at the door and was also our waiter. He was so polite and had quite the sense of humor haha. We absolutely loved his wittiness and he knew the menu well and helped us order. Give that man a raise haha! The space reminds you of a mom & pop's diner. Nothing to write home about BUT it was very cozy. They had r&b hits playing and since music is my love language, I loved it. The pricing is very reasonable, I got the fried chicken which included 2 sides & your choice of bread. I got the Mac & cheese and yams because they are the perfect pair haha with a yeast roll. The chicken was seasoned well & had the right amount of crisp. It was hot to temperature & tastes like something my grandma cooked! My daughter had the smothered pork chops & devoured them, literally there was nothing left on her plate haha. So when I come back, I'll be sure to try that. If you're ever in Greensboro & looking for some good soul food, you HAVE to check them out.

Stephanie's has been added to the list of places I must go when I'm in Greensboro. We went on Friday for lunch and EVERYTHING was delicious. I was a little disappointed that they got rid of the baby shower meatballs...hopefully they'll come back. I ordered salmon cakes, cabbage, broccoli casserole & hush puppies. My friend had the fried wing platter with squash, rice and gravy, and okra. The food was hot and seasoned to perfection. The wings were cooked to a perfect, crispy golden brown. The salmon patties has a little spicy kick to them & I love spicy. Can't wait to visit again!

I found this restaurant by asking the hotel concierge about good soul food restaurants. My mom and I came in on Sunday before the crowd. The service was good. The restaurant is large. I recommend for large groups. I did move booths due to cracked seating but it was not a problem at all. I ordered the chicken wings, Mac, and yams with cornbread. The chicken wings were amazing. Fried to perfection. Not greasy at all. The Mac was okay, nothing spectacular. The yams were really good. The cornbread was perfect, not too crumbly but also moist. Oh, get the uptown, half tea/half lemonade. It was amazing. I can't wait to return when I'm in the area.

I got the chicken wings entree with two sides being mac & cheese and the chicken with broccoli casserole, that came with a bread option and I chose cornbread. The wings were flavorful & seasoned well. The cornbread was good and I liked the mac and cheese. The casserole felt more like just broccoli & cheese with breadcrumbs so it was ok. Since I had takeout it didn't take long for my food to get here, service was quick and easy for a busy Thursday night. The place looked clean, I would come back and try more here to get a better feel for the place. Try and see what you think.

This restaurant is always packed because of the great food. We did have a wait a little while before being seated. They opened another section. The service was good. The waiter was very pleasant and ready to take orders. The service was good. Drinks and food came out quickly. This places serves true southern cooking at its finest. Just be sure to go hungry!!

Fried pork chops, hush puppies, and yams

I just moved to Greensboro, and my boyfriend put me on to this restaurant. Let me first say WOW! This is some good ass (excuse my french) soul food in the Greensboro area. I got two pork chops (nice and juicy), yams (soooo good), mac & cheese (it's really good mixed with the yams), and hush puppies and cornbread. After finishing my tray, it put me straight to sleep. I definitely will be a regular customer here. Keep it up y'all

This is a staple in Greensboro. They have some of the best soul food. The candied yams are everything!! The mac and cheese is baked just right. The cabbage was okay - I've had better. The cornbread melts in your mouth. This is the first time I got the wings and they were fried hard. The service was okay; I think she may have been overwhelmed as she didn't check on us as much as other servers in the past. It's always busy, but the wait for our food wasn't bad. Decor wise it's not the most modern place, but the seating is abundant and clean. And who wouldn't like a place called Stephanie's?!! :-)

The dip is always so delicious - it's one of my favorite appetizers ever. The pita is really good too. I think they recently started adding cheese to it too which is good but not really necessary in my opinion. At first, they brought us pita that was really burnt but our waiter told us she requested a fresh batch without us even saying anything which I think is great service. I also tried their garlic parm boneless wings & they were so good. I loved how seasoned & salty they were, although they might be too salty for some people. I really loved it though! Their cocktail menu is also really interesting & creative. It's mostly whiskey of course but they do have other spirits. I tried the peanut butter & jelly Old fashioned and it was surprisingly delicious. It really did taste like a PB&J so I highly recommend. The inside is small but there's a nice outdoor seating area too. This really is one of my favorite places to get food in the area BUT the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because anytime I've been there remotely close to closing, they definitely let you know & make you feel rushed. I'm not one to go to restaurants last minute when they're closing because I know how that can make it difficult for employees, but being somewhere 45 minutes before they close shouldn't warrant getting rushed. I've been there before just to have a few cocktails at the bar about 45 min before closing & had the same experience. I still really love this place & will keep going (but probably not within an hour or so of closing lol)

My friend got cheese on their hashbrowns and I got bacon on my melt. It said the order would be ready at 4:35am. On Friday and Saturday nights, it is to-go only, unfortunately, due to a tragic incident that happened at a location in South Carolina. I arrived at 4:27am. It was ready. Thankfully I checked before leaving because my bacon was missing and the cheese was missing off the hashbrowns (both of those are an up charge) They didn't give me drinks when they gave the food and I'm thankful I remember bc I'm no stranger to forgetting the beverages, lol. They added cheese, as requested. They cooked and gave me 5 slices of bacon, which was nice bc that's more than I would've gotten on my sandwich. Staff were friendly but always check your order before leaving! lol It was odd when two guys pulled up to order and they were told they were closed for cleaning... what? Haha. Waffle House is always open. That was odd. I did tell them to place an online order, if it let them lol. That seems to be a nice hack! The food was hot! I enjoyed my waffle. If was nicely cooked and not over cooked; same for my hashbrowns. My melt tasted ehh by itself. I was just gonna eat the bacon by itself but my melt needed the crunch haha. Idk. The meat seemed unseasoned. It wasn't horrible but definitely didn't taste like normal and this is my normal Waffle House order.
