This might be the best bar food overall in Greensboro. Great draft list, always has a daily special, outdoor seating, friendly bartenders. Definitely neighborhood/college area vibes but the customers are all ages. Feels very much like an old pub. We had the chicken tenders with tater tots, the Cuban sandwich, and a cheeseburger. They're literally my favorite chicken tenders in Greensboro. Something about the flavor, unique crunch texture, and the addicting honey mustard. So it's high time I leave a review for Old Town Draft House. I've been here numerous times and I'm only writing my first review now. Such an amazing spot. Jill and Kayne, who previously created KAU at Revolution Mill before selling it to Pepper Moon, also own Old Town Draft House and Boulder's Bar and Grill. Each and every one is amazing in its own way. Old Town has been one of the longest standing establishments, and it puts out incredible food! Burgers, wraps, apps, salads, wings, sandwiches, Philly's, even a burrito... you name it. Pretty much everything that comes out of this kitchen is a hit. Today I had the chicken Philly. Yep, the best chicken Philly I've had in a very long time. The classic soft Philly hoagie, chicken that's tender and juicy, peppers and onions full of flavor with the perfect consistency (not too limp, not too raw), all topped with oozing cheese that they're not shy with. I'm salivating just thinking about it as I write this...may have to go get another one tomorrow lol. The housemade chips and dip were perfect with it. Great craft beers, local options, and everything in between round out a perfect pub in the heart of UNCG. This one is definitely in the rotation. This is a location that has been on my bookmarks for a long time, but I'm honestly not sure why I haven't been there sooner. On a Saturday afternoon, I was in Greensboro and in the mood for some good pretzels and a draft beer, and this hit the spot. Old Town Draught House has a very old bar ambience, without feeling worn out and dated. I love the old dark wood throughout the building. They have a pretty broad draft beer menu, along with normal bar offerings. I was happy to see multiple sour beers on the list, because that's exactly what I was in the mood for. There's no table service, and it is seat yourself, but the bartenders were very attentive, and it was never difficult to place an order at the bar. We ordered a few beers and decided to get deviled eggs and the pretzels as appetizers to share. Food came out very quickly. The pretzels were pretty good, but I've had better elsewhere. Rather than being crispy, they were soft and a bit soggy, but the flavor was great. The beer cheese was on point, although I would've preferred a spicy brown mustard over yellow mustard. The deviled eggs were a bit of a letdown, because it was just a hard-boiled egg cut in half with a little bit of sweet chili peppers and dressing that tasted like 1000 Island on top. When I think of deviled eggs, I anticipate the egg yolks being removed, mixed with a few ingredients, and piped back in. For what was basically two eggs cut in half, the six-dollar price tag was steep. Overall, we had a great experience, although I would likely choose different food options next time. Old Town Draught house has the best chicken Philly on the planet. I don't say this lightly, but it's is by far the best, possibly my favorite sandwich of all time. I've been getting the chicken Philly from here since around 2008, it hasn't changed and it's the tastiest sandwich. Their combo of chicken, peppers, onions, and spices with the sauce to light up your taste buds, the garlic aioli and Swiss cheese tie this sandwich together with possible the best savory taste you've ever had. My wife and and always come together and each get one, one of us gets hot chips and the other a salad. The salad makes us feel better about the indulgence of this amazing Philly. I'm sure the other food is good, if not great, plenty of friends I take ther get other items, I just won't do it. I know there ownership has maybe changed hands back and forth, I'm glad they've always kept this staple on the menu, it's the best and they know it. It's bar service, the bartenders are always awesome, quick to serve and can make great cocktails or pour you a solid pint. When you find something you love you stick with it. While I know there is lots of great food at this local gem, my husband and I just can't bring ourselves to order anything besides the Chicken Philly. It is my favorite sandwich in Greensboro and I crave it about every week or so. We are at the point where we walk in and the waitstaff knows our order (I've always wanted to be that kind of regular!) I tell everyone to get it. They have other Philly's as well, but the chicken is the best one. I also recommend the house chips. I personally love the floppy chips and some normally get mixed in. Also, I am not a ranch fan typically, but their's is very good. It goes great with the chips and this amazing sandwich, the perfect bar meal in my opinion. While best right out of the kitchen, this Philly still tastes delish when you get it to-go and enjoy in the comfort of your own home. There is so much that makes this sandwich great. First, the bread used for the sub roll is so soft, then you got a generous serving of hot, juicy, well seasoned marinated grilled chicken, lots of sautéed bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms, Swiss cheese with great cheese pull, and the best part is their garlic aioli. The more aioli the better, it has great flavor and softens the sandwhich which just helps blend everything together for that perfect bite. I just enjoyed one before writing this review and I'll be ready for another soon enough. Right in the heart of UNCG campus, this lovely little bar and grill was serving retro vibes and delicious eats. I had the loaded brisket tots. Amazing flavors! Brisket was delicious. My friend had the Philly and she said it's one of the best she's had. Even the kids chicken tenders looked incredible. The bartenders were our servers, so it was a go to the bar and order/pay service style. Not sure if that's always the case but they were very fast so it wasn't an issue. Ah Old Town. The number of times I sauntered up to this bar back in the day while working at UNCG is more than I could count, whether that was at lunch for a tasty sandwich, or a post work cold one... this place got plenty of my patronage, though it all took place before I started Yelping things, and somehow, that left me having never reviewed it! Well, time to change that, as my sister and brother in law invited us out there for what they say is the best chicken philly in all of Greensboro. I am sure I ate my fair share of chicken phillys here in the day (though not as often as the meatloaf sandwich), but after leaving UNCG for other pastures, I just didn't find myself coming back here due to fatigue and lack of convenience. Though ownership has changed hands, the menu and many recipes remain mostly the same. The meatloaf sandwich is now just an occasional special which I'll have to come for some other time. It was a slow summer day at OT, so the bartenders did come out from behind the bar to take orders and occasionally refill drinks (usually you order at the bar and walk up for your own fills). Every one of us got chicken phillys, I got mine with hot chips and ranch. Well I'll be... it really is the best chicken philly in town! It was like awakening from a long slumber. I hadn't set foot in there in over a decade, but instantly the flavors helped me recall why I used to go so often. Chicken chunks were plentiful and juicy. Onions and peppers cooked down just right. Cheese melted over the top, and the aioli really just ties it all together nicely. This is a chicken philly perfected. The hot chips were also perfectly golden, crispy, and excellent ranch. I have been going to UNCG for 3 years now and haven't stepped foot in here, which is odd considering it is right on Spring Garden Street. I figured I'd go with some friends and try something new. It was weird for me at first because I have never been to a bar, and there was no hostess you seat yourself and get the menus from the bartender. It is typical bar food, burgers, wings, sandwiches, fries, etc. It was also weird for me to go to the bartender to order my food and then go back to my table, but it was just a new experience for me!! The food was very good, The burger was juicy and the pasta salad had a nice pesto flavor. It was loud in here as you would expect a bar to be, but I liked the low lighting. Holy moly, this place is phenomenal! It's has been around on the UNCG campus for almost 30 years and I can see why. The environment is very welcoming and comfortable and the staff is amazing! It has a huge bar that wraps around and has about 8 tables I think - to order, you go up to the bar! I like the way the service flows. They have an incredible domestic and craft beer selection, both on draft and bottles. We had the Wicked Weed Golden Angel sour which was great. Now for the main event - THE FOOD. Wow. I had the chicken Philly which was truly remarkable. The fries were so good. My dad got the patty melt which he said was the best he has ever had - and he's had a few Highly recommend!!! read more

I love this place. I consider it to be a gem, and it's perfect how it is. Old Town goes back since the late 90s, with a bit of history in the local pub and brew scene. It's a local institution--a heavyweight. The service is amazing. Shoutout to David, Rita, Summer, and the rest of the crew who delivers every time. Their burgers are solid, sandwiches are exceptional, fries are hot, and they can pour a good beer. Their blue cheese dressing actually has blue cheese in it and pairs well with their wings. We have eaten here twice when we were at UNCG visiting our daughter. The food is very good and the portions are large. We have tried sandwiches, loaded tots, and wings. All of them were very good. The tots are especially good. We sat outside both times because inside only had high tables and some in our party were unable to get into those chairs. You order at the bar, but they bring the food out to you. Very nice staff. Great spot for lunch. read more

Bourbon Bee, bourbon sí!! This drink alone is worth 5 stars. We came in on a Wednesday evening around 6pm and were able to have a seat at the bar with no wait. We came at the right time because the Hurricanes game was about to start so it did get crowded fairly quickly. The bartenders were very attentive even with the large crowd. I wouldn't give it five stars for a couple of reasons. The bacon was left off the chicken club. The brisket grilled cheese did not have bbq sauce on it and when I asked for a side of it I was charged for it. Also, the parking situation is a bit hectic and we had to drive around a few times before finding a spot since most spaces are reserved for the restaurant next door. Realizing those issues are minor and the food was fixed once we brought attention the mistakes, I would absolutely return to this establishment. I've been to this place a long time ago when I was a student at UNCG. I don't remember them having food so I wanted to give them another try. So for the prices I can't complain, but honestly i should have went to Hops. My burger was cooked right, but the Burger meat was very basic, it had no flavor. They had a decent beer selection but I'm more of a whiskey gal and my old fashioned was mediocre. I didn't see what our bartender made the old fashioned with. Speaking of bartender, our service was okay. It kind of felt like other's service was made more a priority over ours. We would walk up to the bar from our table to place an order, but our order or service would be taken last even though we have been waiting longer than other people. I'm glad to say I tried it, but I hate to say that I probably wouldn't return. read more

I hate to do this and I rarely ever give a poor review, but after my latest experience at OTDH, I have to. We went for lunch a couple of Saturdays ago and the bartender/waitress was so completely rude that it was ridiculous. The food is still okay, I loved my sandwich but my mom didn't like hers as much as usual. The treatment given by the bartender, however, is what turned us away and we will not be back. First and foremost, I constantly give grace and try to be understanding. People have bad days, I get it! Kindness goes a long way and I really make it my mission to be as kind as possible. But she blatantly ignored us, threw the menus across the bar at us, then proceeded to go to the opposite side of the bar whenever we tried to order. Speaking of, the ordering system is horrific, and it needs to be fixed. If you're going to make people order at the bar, it should be an easy process, not an inconvenience to the customer. It's quite annoying as is, and then her attitude made it worse! Like we were doing something wrong wanting to order. I finally chased her down to ask if we could order to which she replied "ok". Barely acknowledged me as I told her. It was the easiest order in history, too! Two waters and two sandwiches. Only one modification of no mushrooms, nothing crazy or annoying. She was super nice to what I assume are her regulars, so her negativity toward us was obvious. Another bartender came and she was friendlier, at least. However, we didn't even get utensils or anything when the food came. It was totally bizarre. I'm hoping this is a one off, but I'm not going back for a while to find out. read more

During my time as a student at UNCG I only stopped by Old Town for a drink and food once, so I'm delighted to be back to give it another proper try. The ambiance around the place is amazing, great interior with a huge bar space and plenty of seating inside and outdoors. Sizable beer menu as well, plenty to accommodate all different tastes.  The meal started off with an order of chips and queso, which hit the spot. The perfect snackable appetizer. Queso was super hot and gooey. I was with a regular that said I absolutely MUST try the brisket grilled cheese. Wow, let me tell you - don't let the "grilled cheese" section fool you, they were absolutely stuffed with brisket. I was not expecting to see such a monster of a sandwich, it was heaven. Chips were perfectly cooked and crispy. After feeling like I was about to explode, I hit my second wind near time the kitchen was closing, but I was able to order a chocolate mousse after spotting it up on the wall as a dessert option. Super rich, great texture, it was fantastic. Service was great for the entire meal even after business picked up heavily, food and drinks came out super quick. Overall an amazing experience and I plan to make Old Town Draught House a regular stop. My only regret is that I didn't go more often during my college days! read more

We stopped in for lunch on Monday afternoon, the restaurant was only partially occupied by guests but there as no tables outside so we sat at one of the bar tables inside. The bartender / server, Alex (I think), was friendly and pretty much quickly took care of everything there. I ordered the classic Reuben a side of potato salad and a local stout. My sandwich along with each of my family's was on perfectly toasted bread. The corn beef was very good and had the right balance of ingredients. Would give 0 stars if I could. The service I received here was by far the worst I've ever had. I ordered a burrito and explicitly requested no tomatoes, just to receive it with tomatoes. I kindly let the server know, and didn't receive my replacement until everyone was already done eating. Shockingly, the Bartender/server questioned why I didn't tip her, and began berating me and my friends. Stating that "ya'll shouldn't eat out if you can't afford it", and tried to guilt trip us, even though they hadn't even paid yet. Completely disregarding the fact that I sat and waited over an hour for my entree. This experience felt nothing short of macro-aggression, she felt comfortable enough to publicly humiliate the only black people in a bar full of white customers, aggressively assuming that none of my other friends would tip before even giving them a chance to. I genuinely felt unsafe here. What a shame that a place like this sits on UNCG's campus. read more

I write this review fully anticipating that I will return to Old Town and try something else and update my review. Their phillys come highly recommended, and I did the dumb thing and didn't order one. My attention was drawn instead to their ramen daily special, which I believe is a newer addition to the menu. After noticing the bone broth is made by Kau (a place that I enjoy), I decided to take the plunge. I appreciated that when ordered to-go they pack all the components separately, which is critical for making sure you don't end up with soggy noodles. As far as flavor goes I found it to be pretty flat. It was just salty, and I do love salt, but I expected a little more complexity. There's also not a single vegetable to be found, so it's just a bowl of brown. It's only $7 without meat, so I suppose I got what I paid for. I also ordered some poutine to share with my friend, which was probably not a great idea in hindsight considering that fries just do not travel well. They were kinda soggy due to being packed with warm gravy. The gravy itself had great flavor though, so I'm sure under normal circumstances this is much more delicious when dining in at the restaurant. My friend was generous enough to let me try a bite of his Philly. It was the end piece, and it still tasted amazing, which tells you a lot. They have this awesome garlic aioli they put on it which really takes it to the next level. I will be returning shortly to try a Philly of my own because now I'm hooked. read more

Been here several times now and always been very favorably impressed. Cozy interior with efficient servers. They have a decent tap beer selection, but the pub grub is what really puts them over the top. It's your usual suspects, but with something that elevates each dish beyond the norm. Everything seems to be made from scratch and done well, then they have nice accents like plenty of freshly-grated Parmesan on the pasta salad. If something on the menu looks good to you, then you'll probably be happy with it. This is a real go-to for a comfort-food lunch or dinner. read more
