Beware of this company's billing policies regarding debit cards. I received a quote for the job which I agreed to, (even though I'm sure it may easily have been done far less expensively had I had time in my favor), and I was told that since I'm a first time customer there would be a small discount applied. When I checked my bank account two days later there were two charges on my account for both the original quote and the discounted price. It resulted in an overdraft as the vender took too much time refunding the original amount. It's a ridiculous practice that results in confusion and an inability to access funds in your account. Why didn't they just charge the discounted rate? It's infuriating, especially at these prices. If you want to use a credit card for payment they charge a whopping 3% which is a rip off. Won't be using this plumber again. read more

When it rains it pours, is how the old saying goes and it's raining at our house right now. In the last 4-5 months, we've had issues with sump pump replacement, AC Fan/Capacitor, AC Fan and a few main line overflows which is how we found out about the Much Bigger problem called Main Line Sewer Liner to replace our 100 year old, original sewer line made of clay and Now, full of roots and partially collapsed!! We had two other companies bid on fixing the problem and Stephens got the job. They were the cheapest, and we trust this company, and have given them a lot of business in the last 4years. They answer their phones, they show up when they say they will, their technicians are knowledgeable, friendly & clean. It was on a Tuesday evening that I'd called many places before I got to Stephens. One place advertised that they provide emergency services but no one on call today. Another was booked all day tomorrow but had openings on Thursday. When I got to Stephens, I knew they would help because a dispatcher answered the phone. She took my information and said a technician would call me back. Within 10 minutes, Manny called me stating that he was finishing up a job and would help me in about 1.5 hour. He followed up by calling to let me know that he was on his way. When I met him, he said that the clock started at 7:50pm and he finished in about an hour. Also, he had suggested to replace all the toilets since they were old and wasting water. He even offered me a discount for a first time customer. I have used Stephens previously and they performed well. We live in a condo with our kitchen plumbing connected to the next door unit. A new renter moved in next door and apparently dumped a bunch of rice down the drain, and it got backed up. I called Stephens, and they came out pretty promptly, but the plumber seemed a bit overwhelmed. He tried to clean things out, but after a bit over an hour he gave up. But we still got a bill of about $340 for a failed job. I called the owner to question this, as it seemed outrageous. The dispatcher talked to me, and said that was the normal rate for services over an hour. I reluctantly paid the bill, but I will never use them again. A friend recommended a handyman who was able to take care of things. read more

Recently I had an issue with the wall heater in my house losing functionality. I called two companies to take a look, one of them being Stephens Plumbing and Heating. The first company was able to come out the same day while Stephens was booked until a few days later. The first company came out and after about 5 minutes they told me my heater needed $700 in repairs and provided me an itemized list of things that needed to be replaced. Feeling a bit cautious of this estimate I waited until Stephens Plumbing and Heating came out. Good thing I did, the Technician came out and after about 10 minutes or so of investigating my heater he discovered the issue was a couple of wires coming loose and was able to fix them and simply charge me for the diagnostic work. Freddy and Joey were excellent technicians. Freddy kept me informed as they went and were highly professional, with a really clean installation. Galan designed a pipe placement to save cost by shortening ca distance of one pipeline branching to the mainline the savings was over $2000 by that recommendation. Super professional work Galan wanted to speak to me before going ahead with the job because they didn't want to give impression of taking advantage of senior citizens. They have integrity. Their finished work on the project was something they were proud of by getting the right incline of the pipes to drain in the sewer line a lot of digging under the house, also did some other work on their toilets to make sure they were secured and didn't charge for that. I'll be fair here. They do solid work. I give them that. They've done work for us in the past. A pretty big job that involved digging up the lawn and we were satisfied customers (which is why we called them again). However, their prices...... We had a leaky kitchen drain and were quoted $180-$250. Eh seemed a bit much, but wanted it fixed and they were here so I just wanted it over with. Once the work was all said and done it jumped up to $400! How? That is almost double the estimated price! I mean the drain isn't leaking anymore, but that seems a little steep to add some plastic pipes. Next time I think I'll shop around before using them. $36 for parts and $360 for labor! They were here like an hour hour and a half tops! The audacity! If money is no object to you then sure they're great plumbers, but if you planned on having running water to go down your drains that month, maybe get another estimate? ‍LOL read more

I called Stephen Plumbing for a water leak that we noticed coming from an outside wall near an outside faucet on Saturday. They responded on Monday & said the estimate for the leak was $500.00. This seemed high but I needed to determine the source. They proceeded to breakdown the stucco & determined the leak was under the house from a pinhole in the copper pipe. They temporarily patched the leak but gave me an estimate of $2,800.00 for the repair. The $500 would not apply. I got another opinion from another company who said the wall should not have been destroyed until they checked under the house. The repairs were completed for less than half of Stephen's estimate but now we need to get the stucco repaired & painted. read more
