I'm very satisfied with the work Galan and Arturo from Stephens did to replace ancient cast iron drain pipes in my house. I had a leak under my house which, on inspection, was part of a much larger problem with old, corroded cast iron pipes. Galan did a great job patiently, and clearly explaining, then demonstrating out the problems. Although extensive pipe replacement work needed to be done, I felt no pressure to do anything I wasn't comfortable with, as Galan's explanation of what needed to be done and what could wait was very clear. Through the process, Galan and Arturo were very responsive and sensitive to my needs as well as the other tenants in the house. At various times, the water needed to be shut off, and they were very communicative about the timing as well as keeping the down time to a minimum. I've used Stephens before and had to call them out again for a malfunctioning furnace. Rob came out and diagnosed the problem and had to order a part. He said it would take about 2 days and right on time he called this morning to say he was coming out with the new part. Rob provided excellent service. In fact Rob was the technician that came out before to fix my other furnace. Very honest. The first time he found a stuck valve and only charged me for the service call. This place was disappointing despite its high reviews. I gave these guys a 1-star for the following reasons: 1. Time window was 8 - 12 in the morning and technician came at 3PM. They overbook themselves and has no respect of customer's time. 2. Technician was a cold and unfriendly person that stared at me like I'm an idiot when talking to me, I don't want to say one single extra word to him. 3. Moving forward, I will not be using nor will I recommend Stephens Plumbing and Heating. The manager (Jeanette) was misleading upon pricing and estimates. It was mentioned that it was free estimates. When I spoke with her after visit, she mentioned that it was miscommunication (on my end) and that she could not do anything more at this time. Also, I asked to escalate the issue, but that she was the highest of point of contact regarding customer issues. She apologized, but ultimately, there is a complete lack of accountability and transparency to the customer. I normally don't leave reviews even though i use yelp a lot for research when selecting a service. After reading all the great reviews i decided to call Stephens Pluming to help bring my furnace back from the dead. Steven was the first tech to arrive and literally tried res erecting my 30 year old furnace which hadn't worked in years back to life. Unfortunately after his efforts he told me what I already knew, I had a dead furnace. He was very honest and knowledgeable and gave me his best opinion and didn't force me into anything i wasn't comfortable doing. After some time i decided to just go ahead and replace my furnace with a new unit. Steven really made me feel confident in this decision. Now here's the really good part of this review. Stephens plumbing sent out a team 3 who were Steven, Trevor and Freddie. These guys all showed up on time and went right to work. Watching these guys work together was like watching your favorite band playing your favorite song live. They were all so efficient and thorough you could tell they all knew what they were doing and worked so well with each other. Each person was very respectful friendly and honest thru out the whole process which was quicker than i expected. I cant thank Steve, Trevor and Freddie enough they took out the old dinosaur dead furnace and installed my new unit and did it a very incredible job. They were extremely careful, skillful and mindful making sure everything was done while answering many of my questions at the same time. again these guys rocked. They did an amazing job and cleaned up any evidence of them even being there. I've called on this company twice in the past 9 months to inspect my DIY Mini-Split A/C installation once after my first unit install and again after I finished the 4th. They were one of the few companies that would give me a pretty detailed quote over the phone and they were by far the most affordable. I was pleased to see the same tech, Matt, return for my second call today. He inspected my system, topped off my refrigerant, and got my heating working again in under an hour. I called Stephens plumbing because they were recommended by a company who came into my house to detect a leak in my cement slab. This other company left detailed information of where they detected the leak and said that Stephens plumbing would know exactly what needed to be done. Stephens plumbing sent out a technician named Recco.I will not get into how my mother Inlaw feels about this technician and his rude conduct because I was not there. However, what I can speak about is the handwritten unintelligible note he left. I believe a company with high yelp reviews and a decent reputation would leave a hand written note for a quote. I called the company and requested a formal quote the following day. The said Recco would give me a call back. Well, he never did, and to this day I have not received a call back from Stephens plumbing or a formal quote. Long story short, I will not be using this company. Good luck. read more

Where my review took a turn was the quote received for the removal and install of new toilets. After our early mornjng site visit, we were later in the day quoted over $1,000 per basic toilet (purchase from their supply house, transport, install). This was not a Toto or bidet toilet. Not gold plated. A basic 2 piece toilet, nothing fancy. A toilet with these specs goes for $200 at Lowes or Home Depot. Decide for yourself if $1,000 per toilet, all in, is reasonable. We sure do not think so. We have found another local plumber who will do all required for install and all in cost (we are purchasing toilets for install ourself) will be less than half of this quote. read more

My furnace went out a few weeks ago, and my husband and I immediately went to YouTube to try and fix the problem ourselves. Unfortunately, we weren't able to figure it out, so we decided to call in a professional. I called a few companies and this company was able to get a technician out the soonest, which was the next day. The two other companies I called weren't able to get anyone out until the next week. The technician that came was Oscar. He showed up on time and was very friendly and professional. He listened to what our issue was and what we had already attempted to do. When it rains it pours, is how the old saying goes and it's raining at our house right now. In the last 4-5 months, we've had issues with sump pump replacement, AC Fan/Capacitor, AC Fan and a few main line overflows which is how we found out about the Much Bigger problem called Main Line Sewer Liner to replace our 100 year old, original sewer line made of clay and Now, full of roots and partially collapsed!! We had two other companies bid on fixing the problem and Stephens got the job. They were the cheapest, and we trust this company, and have given them a lot of business in the last 4years. They answer their phones, they show up when they say they will, their technicians are knowledgeable, friendly & clean. Anyway, this job is expensive to do and if you wait too long, it gets even MORE EXPENSIVE!!! Stephens Plumbing helped us with financing this project and now we're good and don't have to worry for a long time. Beware of this company's billing policies regarding debit cards. I received a quote for the job which I agreed to, (even though I'm sure it may easily have been done far less expensively had I had time in my favor), and I was told that since I'm a first time customer there would be a small discount applied. When I checked my bank account two days later there were two charges on my account for both the original quote and the discounted price. It resulted in an overdraft as the vender took too much time refunding the original amount. It's a ridiculous practice that results in confusion and an inability to access funds in your account. Why didn't they just charge the discounted rate? It's infuriating, especially at these prices. If you want to use a credit card for payment they charge a whopping 3% which is a rip off. Won't be using this plumber again. read more
