I had the Raspberry Swingle and while really good, I didn't get much of the key lime taste as the raspberry and chocolate overpowered the taste!

I was so excited to go here! And even more thrilled when I tasted the tart. The place is adorable with a pick up window. All 3 of us had the tarts. And since it was a cold day, my friend ordered a coffee too. You MUST go here! Even if it's a drive to get here-- worth it!

So mediocre! I'm confused how this place is famous! I would not get it again! The key lime pie did not have ANY lime flavor and left me feeling disappointed. I did enjoy the graham cracker crust which was tasty but overpowered each bite. We also got a chocolate dipped frozen raspberry key lime pie on a stick. It was refreshing on a hot day but again, there was no key lime pie flavoring. It tasted like a chocolate covered raspberry. The personal sided pie was $6.50 and the frozen chocolate one of a stick was $9. The line was about 10 people deep when I joined it and took about 10 min. There was only one person working behind the counter. They have picnic tables outside to eat at or you can walk over to the park and sit on a bench to enjoy your treat. No restrooms were available for customers.

Rating: 7.5/10 Date Last Visited: 9/6/2025 We ordered the Raspberry Chocolate Swingle ($9.50) and La Victoria Swingle ($9.50). The swingles are individual servings of key lime pie dipped and coated in chocolate. The raspberry swingle was delicious - there was a good balance between the raspberry jam and key lime pie plus chocolate. It tasted exactly like what you would expect a chocolate dipped key lime pie to taste like. The La Victoria had a spicy kick to it, and I personally was not a fan. It's takeout only but the surrounding area has nice views. Overall, if you're a fan of key lime pie and chocolate, this place is worth a visit.

I went to Red Hook Tavern twice since I needed to try the key lime pies at Steve's. The first time I went, I didn't realize that Steve's closed at 7pm, but we made sure not to make the same mistake twice. The key lime pies are all amazing, and the seasonal fruit flavored ones are even better! The crust is perfectly crumbly and the filling is tangy and sweet. I wish they had a regular frozen version without the chocolate coating since it is a bit too sweet, but the serving sizes are just right. If I had a car or if it wasn't so humid, I'd buy a full pie to go.

Steve's key lime pie is some of the best I've ever had! The shop is a walk-up with no indoor seating, so keep that in mind if you visit during the winter. You'll have to enjoy your pie outside, but there are plenty of benches available. The service was quick and easy, and I'd definitely come back in the summer to enjoy it in warmer weather. Still, it was well worth braving the cold!

Cute sign that directs people to the shop.

Absolutely incredible! The key lime pie is perfectly balanced, refreshing, and unique for a hot summers day. Service was quick, no line at noon on weekday day. The server also gave some great recommendations and answered all my families questions about their menu and store hours (Came back twice in one day because it was just so good). Laid-back vibe by the waterfront which makes this Red Hook gem the perfect spot for a sweet treat with a view.

I spent a day in RedHook and heard so much about this place I had to give it a try. I'm a big fan of key lime pie so I was looking forward to this. I got the small tart and the frozen pie with raspberry. Both pies lacked the tart like flavor I look for in the pie. The crust was standard but for the price I don't think it lived up to the hype.

I was really looking forward to key lime pie. Sadly, Steve's isn't quite what it used to be. The custard filling lacked the creamy texture and that signature balance of sweetness and tartness that makes key lime pie so deliciously satisfying. The graham cracker crust was crumbly and didn't hold together well, making it a bit tricky to enjoy each bite. The treat was edible, but definitely not the zesty dessert I had hoped for.

A cute, unassuming bakery serving up key lime pies -- for someone who doesn't love citrusy desserts... I liked this a lot. Swingle is popular but can be messy to eat -- I'd probably just get a small pie next time!

Abs love love loveeeeee! Menu is small and straight to the point. It's a little booth in a building with some parking spots. Great views. Service was great. Tried the classic swingle...omg...it was amazing! Served cold and that's best. I loved how the crust of the pie isn't thick, but still gives a nice crunch for each bite. It's perfectly portioned. I can't believe I missed out on this for so long. Prices are reasonable. This is a must try if you're in the red hook area or a visit in NYC. They also have coffee here which I didn't get to try as it was a hot summer day lol. I will be back to try more of the menu for sure! 10/10

yummy spot specializing in key lime pie! expect a line that moves quickly on the weekends. I will say, Cait's keylime will continue to have a hold on my heart, but I appreciate the ease of getting Steve's. It's a very cute location by the water, and you enjoy the pie at picnic tables outside (no inside seating). you order the pie at the window and the order gets to you super quick as everything is pre-made. I enjoyed the crust of the pie, and we got the mini and a swingle (dipped in chocolate with raspberry sauce). The swingle was served from the freezer and resembled a cake pop! Prices are a smidge high but definitely a treat

I love coming here so much that anytime we have family visiting us in Brooklyn - I feel it my duty to take them here. The key lime pie here is refreshing, tart, and oh so delicious. No matter the weather outside, these pies are such a great treat for when you're journeying through Red Hook. If there's a line on the day that you visit - just wait. It always moves super quickly. PS: If you're a chocolate fan - they have a chocolate dipped key lime pie that is so worth trying.

I'm wondering if this business is still open? Even if only for curbside pickup? No reviews since March 15th and the website is down, I'm worried they didn't survive this crisis :-( I would love to know if they are still operating!?

I went by about a month ago and they had just closed, siting they would open again after the city opened up a bit more. Send them an email, I might do the same.

Starting off with the baked goods, the brown butter corn cake may be the single best pastry I've had in my life. It has a great crispy exterior and a super moist and decadent interior that just makes it the best pastry you could ever ask for. I also think they have one of the best chocolate chip cookies in the city, and their cinnamon roll is light yet executed perfectly. In addition to their pastries, their sandwiches are amazing. My favorite is this chili crisp tofu sandwich. It is packed with great flavor, perfectly tender tofu, and is layered between two pieces of delicious bread. I also love their arugula burrata prosciutto sandwich that is paired so nicely with their focaccia, making each bite the ultimate experience. While I've never waited in a really long line, I can say that they do move pretty efficiently. Unfortunately, there isn't much room to eat inside, but on a nice day, if you can grab a table outdoors, it's a great experience in the lovely Greenpoint neighborhood.

There was basil in the first sandwich that cuts through the fattiness of the meat and cheese which was great. The second sandwich had this spicy sesame sauce which was so good - was not expecting to like the tofu one that much. Brown butter corn bread was the most moist one I've ever had and the top was so crispy. Rhubarb pastry was good but nothing special - didn't taste the rhubarb.

Even though there is a line, you do not feel rushed or pressured to order quickly. On this visit we ordered plain croissant, chocolate croissant-fresh out of the oven, rhubarb croissant, black forest pastry and brown butter corn cake. The chocolate croissant was amazing. It is triple chocolate and cocoa powder is in the dough. It is filled with milk and dark chocolate, so creamy. The plain croissant was flaky and light. The brown butter corn cake was crispy and caramelized on the outside and soft and moist. The Black Forest croissant is a seasonal offering. It is made with their Triple Chocolate Croissant filled with chocolate cake and sour cherries and topped with mascarpone cream , Rhubarb & Custard Croissant . It is tart and sweet. The rhubarb is roasted and complimented with sweet vanilla custard. They all were excellent. Each were about $8. Highly recommend and don't let the line deter you .
