This is not a sit-down restaurant so there's no indoor seating. It's literally you pick what you want and they put it in a styrofoam container to-go and weight it and charge per pound. They are located on the southwest corner of Ball and Western in this tiny strip mall, up the street from Disneyland and down the street from Knott's Berry Farm. There are limited parking spots out front, but there's more if you park to the right of the store. There's not that many Samoan food stores close by so this is a big deal to have one that's from Samoa, serves real Samoan food and it's good. It's like finding a unicorn! I brought food home from here and my parents approved which is all I need to know if it's good or not. My dad said their taro is really good and my mom enjoyed all of her go-to Samoan food staples. They also sell pastries and I'm not a German bun person, but I know from my cousin that their German buns are really good. My favorite is the Samoan bread and in particular the cinnamon bread because I literally have not had a good Samoan cinnamon bread since the late 90's! I got so happy when I saw they made this because I forgot about it all this time. My aunt's old store in Carson used to bake this and we would literally hound her and ask, "When are you making the cinnamon bread?!!" That store closed down a long time ago and we haven't seen her since. First time I came here was close to closing time and I knew I effed up because that means all the food is probably gone and I was right. Steven's son said a group of Samoan people from Utah and San Diego came by early in the morning and bought the place out. I was still able to get the corned beef, chop suey, turkey tail and Samoan curry and some oka to-go. I got a cinnamon bread, regular bread and pineapple pies as well. The pineapple pies were hitting! Those tasted authentic for real. The Samoan bread tasted exactly how I remembered it and it was so good! The cinnamon bread was bomb. It's the perfect amount of cinnamon swirl and it's so good toasted! Second time I was able to get the palusami or luau and it was bomb. That's my favorite Samoan dish then oka (raw fish in coconut milk/cream with chopped onion, cucumber, tomato, lemon/lime juice) I was also able to get taro this time around and it was perfect! The taro was cooked already with the sauce and it slapped. No complaints. My parents got the fried fish, octopus, turkey tails again, chop suey and sausage and ate it all over the next few days. They loved all of it and if they lived closer I know it would be over. Tupu and Hana are really nice and I'm grateful this place is here because I'm tired of Hawaiian BBQ. I'm not gatekeepy, but if you come here and you're not Samoan and you try the food and throw it away after one bite, a curse on both your houses! read more

Okay, I'm sharing my honest experience in hopes that the owner takes this as constructive feedback and makes some improvements. I was genuinely excited to see an establishment from American Samoa open here in Orange County, especially knowing their location back home in Nu'uuli. I came in looking forward to authentic, traditional food and that sense of home. At first, the pricing felt reasonable--around $40-$60 for one or two plates, some oka or sapasui, and dessert. But in a short amount of time, prices have increased significantly into the $100+ range, and unfortunately, the portions haven't matched that increase. The food itself has been hit or miss. It feels like there's experimentation happening in the kitchen, but those of us here stateside are really looking for the traditional foods we miss from back home--not new versions that don't quite land. There have been times when the food tasted fresh and enjoyable, but other times it felt like it may have been from the day before. Some dishes were very tough, almost like beef jerky. We all know the difference between freshly made food and leftovers--that part was disappointing. The kale mamoe didn't taste like the traditional version, and at times the food lacked seasoning and depth of flavor. As for the pies, the crust seems to have too much Crisco--it ends up crumbly instead of firm and crisp. To be fair, there are highlights--the chicken takes me back home, and so does the fai'ai fe'e. The kalo and bananas are also good. But even then, the pricing feels too high for what you're getting, especially for what are considered o mea'ai 'a'ago. If that's the case, sili ia ga fai sa'u ia saka i le fale. I truly want to support and see this place succeed, especially as it represents Samoa here. But at this point, I can't see myself or my family spending over $100 for what we receive. I honestly wouldn't mind driving out to Carson, where the value feels more fair and we don't feel like we're being taken advantage of. The distance isn't that big of a deal. You're going to lose people quickly when prices are this high. There are other options, and many of us are willing to make that drive--we've done it before and can do it again. What a breath of fresh air. Hear me out... I grew up going to the original Island Boutique since I was a child. My family and I were raised all around Orange County, so Island Boutique was always a regular stop for Samoan food. Over the years, though, it was no secret that the place slowly went downhill, year after year. Eventually, we just continued driving all the way out to Long Beach or Carson just to get good Samoan food. So having Steven & Sons Island Boutique take over and reopen has truly been a blessing. First off, the food was good, the place was extremely clean, and above all else, the hospitality was a solid 10/10. You could tell they're genuinely happy to be serving the community, smiles everywhere, laughter filling the air, and warm food coming out consistently. That kind of energy matters. My personal favorites were the mamoe and kale mamoe, so good. My family all had different favorites, which says a lot. We also enjoyed the fasipovi masima, though I do wish it came with cabbage. The sosisi was a miss for me personally, but everything else more than made up for it. The German buns were literally to die for, you can truly taste that they're using real, authentic ingredients in it, like straight from Samoa. I also can't get over how clean the place was. Fresh paint, refreshed space, it honestly felt good walking into somewhere I wouldn't mind sitting down and eating. They've done an amazing job fixing the place up. The minced beef pies and pineapple pies were also so good. We didn't even try everything, but we got a lot and genuinely enjoyed it. I'm excited to continue supporting this business and seeing what new items they bring in week after week. And honestly, one of the best parts? Driving home with our food and not having to sit in traffic for 30 minutes after going all the way to Carson. The convenience of having good Samoan food close to home means everything. I love the hot foods, flaky pies, and snacks here! They are all very fresh and high quality items. Try the New Zealand lamb if you are looking for something different and delicious. They also sell warm Polynesian pastries made with love. A boutique featuring traditional Samoan clothing, purses, and jewelry is also attached to the restaurant area. The meat pie was my favorite and the mini pie fala was delicious and hit the spot only thing is i told them id like the peanut butter and jelly german bun they forgot it the mamoe and the turkey tail were all tender but i prefer the marinated soy sauce bar b qued style versus the tomato bar b que sauce the meats taste good but they were bland under the sauce perhaps maybe could use some seasoning also the samoan sausage i had was not good bcuz it was really dry and had no taste unfortunately i had to throw it away because that was a first for me maybe i just had an old one the sapasui had tok much ginger it over powered the entire dish and i could not taste anything else but im happy they sell kava and koko samoa there on the brighter side! Went there again to support our people's.. frozen sea urchin $65 .. Dad said it had no taste and was still frozen. Very hard to support our people when you walk out with a bill like this. They do charge some things by the pound.they charged me $17 X2 for poly plate. Both had mamoe and povi masima . One plate had chicken thigh and turkey tail. The rest, you see are charged by the lbs. I Came into this place blind, not knowing what to expect and in all honesty... i was not let down at all. To begin with the service being extremely excellent and great. Accidentally came to this place thinking it was the old Samoan store. Didn't see any raw taro but asked the nice young lady behind the counter if she had any for sale and she asked if I wanted pieces or bags. Asked for 3 whole pieces and they were huge and fresh. Also noticed some bricks of Samoan cocoa and picked one up. The old store also had some but it was always grounded so finely that you couldn't enjoy the crunch but these bricks had the aroma, strength and big enough chunks for that crunch. Made some nice hot drink with no sugar and even better into that rice dessert. read more

Friggin love this place. A few days ago someone brought me some pineapple pies and they swore they had the best I judge hard on my pai falas but when I had theirs I agreed it's definitely one of THE BEST. Today my kids and I made the 1 hr drive to pick up some food and everything was solid. We got a small plate and tried a few key items, panipopo, German buns and also waited for some halfmoon pies everything was so good and worth it. If I had one critique (and this is only my opinion) the oka needed some more salt and lemon but that was an easy fix when I got home. They revived an old Samoan store that was just okay! This place though.....Great Samoan food!!! Usually we have to go Poly Grill in Carson to get good Samoan food. I must say what stuck out to me was the Crust on the Half moon Pineapple pies and the chicken pies!!! The Panipopo was good too again the bread was fresh! They didn't have palusami or chop suey but the rest of the plate was fire! Friendly staff with good customer service.
