He said he could come and look at it, but that would cost me a $90 service call and probably yield nothing. He came out once and said the refrigerator was working. 24 hours later everything was thawed. He came back and looked at again and said the "closed compressor" was shot and said he was new and didn't know how to replace a closed compressor. He estimated a repair cost of $700. The refrigerator cast $700 new (9 years ago). $200 wasted and a whole freezer full of food gone. The tech was a nice guy. He recommended that I go to a used appliance store to buy one for less. I don't think I want someone else's problem. BTW Do not buy SAMSUNG. They don't stand behind their appliances. (Costco had the same size Whirlpool for $700 which is working perfectly.)
