What has happened to this Steve's? It used to be so good! We haven't been here for almost a year since our last terrible breakfast, and we were really hoping to see some kind of improvement. THE GOOD: Steve's dining area is nice and clean. THE BAD: We ordered a Pastrami PLAIN with no mustard or pickles. But we got a regular pastrami smothered in mustard. Then I order an Avocado Burger. I was charged for an Avocado Burger. A couple bites into the burger and I realized there was NO avocado. After having to take the pastrami back for a re-do, I said "Screw it." I'll just eat a regular burger. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone at Steve's reads these reviews. They get their regular business regardless and they just don't care anymore.h read more

We use to love this place and it just seems to be going down hill. The food use to be our local favorite. We recently got a breakfast burrito and cheese burger and there was a very long hair in the breakfast burrito . The salsa was watery. The fries were all soggy. The soda was flat. When you order a burrito you expect cheese. I knew it was a bad idea when she kept saying "uh huh". It's simple - add sour cream and leave out the onions. There were chopped onions throughout my burrito and there was no cheese. My work shares a wall with this establishment, I'm here all the time. Omg!! Today I was craving a sausage burrito so I stopped in to satisfy my craving. Well it's been so many years since I have been here and I can honestly say the burrito is not the same nor is the price. I use to eat these every morning before work and trust they were now they are less than average with no taste or breakfast aroma. I expected to leave there feeling satisfied and full, but that was not the case this time. I literally threw half of it away and just could not finish it I clearly felt like it was not a good day. Later that day I payed for it with an upset stomach so for that reason either something was bad or spoiled or it was not meant to be. This place is normally amazing but today has put a damper on the experience. We come normally as a group of 4-6 people and get a ton of food which is always delicious. Today I am giving this one star due to the fact that it is Friday and even though the hours say open till ten we were refused service at 8:55pm. We purposely drive out of our way to come to this location but not any more. The rude responses along with the incorrect times make it not worth the drive any longer. Why would I come any other day of the week if they just make up their own times now. Unreliable and disheartening. So sad. read more

The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. I have been going here for years. Every time I go home for a visit, this is the first place I go to. I love eating inside, as it's always clean and the food is nice and hot. I really miss those steak sandwiches and their yummy chili size. Might have to plan a visit home soon. read more

Update, 2/24/21 This morning I asked about bell peppers vs jalapenos with a little conversation this morning's huevos rancheros were good I could actually eat them without burning a hole on the roof of my mouth. Pretty sure this is the joint I got terrible food poisoning from 4 years ago or so. Gave it another chance but god everything is awful. Service, food, people. I clarified with the lady a no bacon avocado burger and I got only bacon and no avocado and she claimed the bacon price they charged me was equivalent to the avocado charge but no bacon is more expensive. Terrible staff. And no gloves on the cooks. This place needs new ownership and management. read more

This is a great lunch spot! I've had the chili cheese fries (which are amazing), their burgers (pretty tasty), and an Oreo milkshake (can't go wrong). Steve's definitely has great quality food. It's a bit on the pricey side, but the taste makes up for it. I've been going to this Steve's for 30 years and it's still great. When you are in the mood for a good old fashioned charbroiled burger this is the place! Most of the time that's what I get but everything is good, I've probably had half the menu thru the years. In addition to the burgers I want to call out the chili cheese fries (w/ onions & Tobasco) the biggest and best in the Southbay and the beef tacos! The fries in general (even if you don't add the chili) are great, nice and thick but perfectly cooked so they were crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. I like to dip mine in mayo - So Yummy! This place is a West Torrance institution so if you're a local you know all about it. But if not you should stop by, it's perfect for a before or after beach meal :) read more

Steve's still knows how to make a great burger after all of these years. As a former resident of West Torrance, Steve's brings me back to childhood. I really enjoy their burgers and the service is always good. They also make some of the best onion rings I've ever tasted. Yesterday I went through the drive thru and ordered a bacon cheeseburger. I didn't get the double, just a single patty. Alongside that I got a large order of onion rings. These two items came out to be $14.50. $14.50 for a single patty burger with a large order of onion rings. Now I will say they gave me a good amount of onion rings. But $14.50 for just those two things is a lil much. We can chalk this up to supply chain issues or inflation, but I remember the prices were increasing even before COVID. $14.50 for the two items I got would require a VERY good burger with a little more love. I love Steve's burgers but they aren't worth that price to me. I know of other business that are cheaper, that have burgers that taste just like Steve's, that are at a more reasonable price point. So relative to other do-it-all burger dives, this one is fine. I'd give it 3.5 stars with a round up to 4. The was my first time there, and the place looked newly renovated with a nice floor, quartz looking table tops, and new seats. Everything was clean, and while it wasn't busy the food came out quickly enough. The downside was the price. I got the two egg breakfast which had a pretty standard: 2 eggs (obviously), hash browns, 2 pieces of white toast, and about 5 short pieces of bacon. I also got a cup of coffee. That cost $10. Not exorbitant, but not cheap. They also had a Star Wars pinball machine; which was kind of awesome. read more

Why Steve, why?! I've been coming here since the 80's and all I can say is the food really hits the spot when you want a burger and fries. Why the 1 star you ask? Today I decided to splurge and get a bacon burger to go. Service was meh but whatevers, it's drive thru. Got home and no bacon to be seen. They charged me $3 extra for it! Around 4pm Friday 8/28. Cook is scrubbing grill. Grabbing water from soda fountain and THEN GRABS RAW MEAT and throws it on the grill with his same bare hands he used to clean without washing first. Then he drops a bottle inside cooked Pastrami - digs it out with his bare hands again. This place is disgusting. I will never step foot in here again.- read more

Torrance Food Crawl #62 This Steve's was once on my route home and I would frequently stop here for a quick trip through the drive thru. The Burgers and Chili Fries were frequently ordered and good enough that I ordered them many times. My all-time favorite item here was a Chunky Beef Burrito but evidently that was a specialty item and disappeared from the menu when the one cook who made it left for another job. Today I tried the Carne Asada Burrito. My first bite made me think I had been given a Taco Burrito because there was an instant taste of taco fillings like lettuce and tomato. But there turned out to enough finely sliced steak meat to entitle the name of Carne Asada Burrito. There is a little bit of added onion, but not much else. Its an OK burrito, but not a classic Carne Asada Burrito that you would get elsewhere. The Fried Zucchini is a nice alternative to French Fries. They are breaded and not greasy. There are two little containers of ranch dressing for dipping the fries. Well worth considering if you want something a 'little' healthier. read more

Ok so the food is good I've only had the burger and onion rings and zucchini fries. We started coming here since classic has gone downhill. Only reason I gave 3 stars is I GET the ranch is extra but when I order onion rings AND zucchini sticks I expect at least ONE but two is preferable since there was two orders ( onion rings and zucchini sticks) ranch and sure charge me for extra after that one ( or two) . But to outright charge for the first one doesn't sit well with me. We were regulars with classic and hoped to be here. They always gave us extra ranch and didn't charge because we were so regular .
